Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the malignant tumor of the digestive system with the highest incidence and mortality rate worldwide. Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) of the large intestine have unique morphological characteristics, special growth patterns and higher malignant potential. Therefore, LSTs are a precancerous lesion of CRC that could be easily missed.

Inflammatory response mediated by M1 microglia is a crucial factor leading to the exacerbation of brain injury after ischemic stroke (IS). Under the stimulation of IS, vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) switch to the synthetic phenotype characterized by exosome secretion. Previous studies have shown that exosomes play an important role in the regulation of microglial polarization.

Purpose: Both glucose and albumin are associated with chronic inflammation, which plays a vital role in post-contrast acute kidney injury (PC-AKI). To explore the relationship between random glucose to albumin ratio (RAR) and the incidence of PC-AKI after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
Patients And Methods: STEMI patients who underwent PCI were consecutively enrolled from January, 01, 2010 to February, 28, 2020.

Objectives: To evaluate the effects of repeated cut-off and rescan procedures on the trueness of three intraoral scanners (IOS).
Methods: A tooth model (#16) with a standard class II cavity was prepared, and the complete-arch was scanned using a laboratory scanner (D2000, 3Shape A/S) to obtain a reference scan. Then the typodont was scanned with three IOSs (3Shape TRIOS 3, CEREC Omnicam, and Medit i500) under two rescanning strategies (full-cut and partial-cut), with varying numbers of repeated cut-off and rescanning procedures (0, 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10).

Adverse cardiac mechanical remodeling is critical for the progression of heart failure following myocardial infarction (MI). We previously demonstrated the involvement of RIP3-mediated necroptosis in the loss of functional cardiomyocytes and cardiac dysfunction post-MI. Herein, we investigated the role of RIP3 in NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3)-mediated inflammation and evaluated the effects of RIP3 knockdown on myocardial mechanics and functional changes after MI.

. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most malignant tumours, demonstrating a poor prognosis and nearly identically high mortality and morbidity, mainly because of the difficulty of early diagnosis and timely treatment for localized stages.o develop a noncontrast CT (NCCT)-based pancreatic lesion detection model that could serve as an intelligent tool for diagnosing pancreatic cancer early, overcoming the challenges associated with low contrast intensities and complex anatomical structures present in NCCT images.

Aim: To investigate the association between cognitive function and body composition in older adults.
Methods: We collected data on 2080 older adults (>60 years of age) from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) for the years 1999-2000 and 2001-2002. Candidate variables included: demographic data (sex, age, race, education level, marital status, poverty-to-income ratio), alcohol consumption, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, total bone mineral density, and total fat mass.

Background: It is unclear whether serum calcium on admission is associated with clinical outcomes in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). In this study, we conducted a retrospective study spanning a decade to investigate the prognostic value of baseline calcium in elderly patients with DCM.
Methods: A total of 1,089 consecutive elderly patients (age ≥60 years) diagnosed with DCM were retrospectively enrolled from January 2010 to December 2019.

The activation Gq protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) is a crucial factor contributing to maladaptive cardiac hypertrophy, and dysregulation of autophagy is implicated in its prohypertrophic effects. Previous studies have shown that diacylglycerol kinase zeta (DGKζ) can suppress cardiac hypertrophy by inhibiting the diacylglycerol (DAG)-PKC pathway in response to mechanical strain or growth agonists such as endothelin-1 (ET-1). However, the involvement of DGKζ in autophagy regulation remains poorly understood.

Background: Previous models for predicting delirium after cardiac surgery remained inadequate. This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning-based prediction model for postoperative delirium (POD) in cardiac valve surgery patients.
Methods: The electronic medical information of the cardiac surgical intensive care unit (CSICU) was extracted from a tertiary and major referral hospital in southern China over 1 year, from June 2019 to June 2020.

Background: As an indicator of arterial stiffness, there is controversy over whether estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) add additional prognostic information other than cardiovascular risk factors or traditional risk estimation model in general population.
Methods: Data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 1999-2018 was analyzed. Cardiovascular risk factors were collected and Framingham Risk Score (FRS) was calculated.

In a recent reclassification, adenocarcinoma has been redefined as a glandular precursor lesion (GPL), alongside adenomatous hyperplasia. This updated classification necessitates corresponding adaptations in clinical diagnostic and therapeutic protocols. Consequently, the present study aimed to construct and validate a nomogram utilizing computed tomography (CT) texture features to effectively discriminate between minimally invasive adenocarcinoma (MIA) and GPL within sub-centimeter pulmonary ground glass nodules (GGNs).

Background: The benefits and safety of intensive blood pressure treatment in elderly hypertensive patients have been proved in the STEP trial. However, relevant mechanisms for intensive treatment are lacking.
Hypothesis: We aimed to explore whether intensive blood pressure treatment is associated with left ventricular systolic function changes as evaluated by myocardial work (MW) parameters in elderly hypertensive patients compared to the standard.

The most notable side-effect of apatinib, a novel antiangiogenic agent for the treatment of cancer, is hypertension, but there are few published studies regarding the use of apatinib to treat patients with cancer and severe hypotension. Here, the cases of three patients with tumours and severe hypotension are described: case 1, a 73-year-old male patient with lung squamous cell carcinoma who initially received radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and developed pneumonia and severe hypotension after 6 months; case 2, a 56-year-old male patient with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who was treated with chemotherapy and presented with fever and persistent hypotension; and case 3, a 77-year-old male patient with oesophageal cancer who was admitted with deglutition difficulty and severe hypotension. Apatinib was added to the treatment regimen of all three patients for antitumor therapy.

Background: The immune infiltration and molecular mechanisms underlying septic cardiomyopathy (SC) have not been completely elucidated. This study aimed to identify key genes related to SC and elucidate the potential molecular mechanisms.
Methods: The weighted correlation network analysis (WGCNA), linear models for microarray analysis (LIMMA), protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, CIBERSORT, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway (KEGG), and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were applied to assess the key pathway and hub genes involved in SC.
