Urethroplasty for the management of long-segment urethral strictures associated with lichen sclerosus presents considerable clinical challenges. Oral mucosal grafts are commonly employed but are vulnerable to posttransplantation infection and recurrent stricture formation. Furthermore, the necessity for anesthesia and oral graft harvesting restricts their application in primary healthcare settings.

Reproductive Center, Taiyuan Central Hospital, Taiyuan, China; Reproductive Immunity and Heredity Departments and Cities Jointly Build Key Laboratory Training Bases of Shanxi Province, Taiyuan, China. Electronic address:

The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays an important role in reproductive function. Our previous study identified that angiotensin II type-1 receptor autoantibody (AT1-AA), an autoantibody that activates RAS, was closely associated with infertility. However, its distribution in different types of infertility remained unclear.

Mesoporous Graphene Oxide Nanocomposite Effective for Combined Chemo/Photo Therapy Against Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Int J Nanomedicine

Department of Medical Chemistry, School of Basic Medical Science, Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan, Shanxi, 030000, People's Republic of China.

Introduction: Lung cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, among which non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for about 80% of all lung cancers. Chemotherapy, a mainstay modality for NSCLC, has demonstrated restricted effectiveness due to the emergence of chemo-resistance and systemic side effects. Studies have indicated that combining chemotherapy with phototherapy, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT), can enhance efficacy of therapy.

Article Synopsis
  • Thymosin beta 10 (TMSB10) is often overexpressed in various cancers, including colorectal cancer (CRC), but its exact role in CRC is not well understood.
  • The study found that higher levels of TMSB10 are present in CRC tissues and serum of CRC patients compared to healthy individuals.
  • Knockdown of TMSB10 increased cancer cell death and hindered cell growth, suggesting TMSB10 could serve as a potential non-invasive tumor biomarker and a target for post-surgery chemotherapy in CRC treatment.

Rationale: Patients with schizophrenia with second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) treatment have shown an increased risk of bone fragility and susceptibility to fracture; however, it is still unclear whether this risk is derived from the effect of antipsychotics on balance of bone metabolism.

Objectives: We investigated the changes of two bone turnover biomarkers (BTMs) concentrations in people with schizophrenia receiving SGAs: procollagen type I aminoterminal propeptide (PINP) and C-terminal telopeptide of type I collagen (CTX-1) as BTMs of osteogenesis and bone resorption, respectively, to explore how antipsychotics contribute to bone fragility.

Methods: We recruited 59 Chinese male patients with schizophrenia (32 drug-naïve first-episode (DNFE) patients and 27 chronic patients) to undergo 8 weeks SGAs treatment.

Science and Technology Center of Fenyang College, Shanxi Medical University, No. 16 Xueyuan Road, Fenyang, Shanxi, 032200, People's Republic of China.

Background: Obesity is associated with a wide variety of metabolic disorders that impose significant burdens on patients and society. The "browning" phenomenon in white adipose tissue (WAT) has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy to combat metabolic disturbances. However, though the anti-diabetic drug dapagliflozin (DAPA) is thought to promote "browning," the specific mechanism of this was previously unclear.

is a common pathogen in humans and animals that causes food poisoning and infection, threatening public health safety. We aimed to investigate the genome structure, drug resistance, virulence characteristics, and genetic relationship of a strain isolated from patients with food poisoning. The pathogen strain 21A was collected from the feces of patients with food poisoning, and its minimum inhibitory concentration against commonly used antibiotics was determined using the strip test and Kirby-Bauer disk methods.

A new type of polyethyleneimine-protected copper nanoclusters (PEI-CuNCs) is favorably developed by a one-pot method under mild conditions. The obtained PEI-CuNCs is characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and other techniques. It is worth noting that the proposed PEI-CuNCs demonstrate a selective response to chromium(VI) over other competitive species.

Dopamine (DA) is the most abundant catecholamine neurotransmitter in the brain and plays an extremely essential role in the physiological activities of the living organism. There is a critical need for accurately and efficiently detecting DA levels in organisms in order to reflect physiological states. Carbon nitride quantum dots (CN) were, in recent years, used enormously as electrochemical and fluorescence probes for the detection of metal ions, biomarkers and other environmental or food impurities due to their unique advantageous optical and electronic properties.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2), characterized by its high fatality rate and contagious nature, has led to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide, significantly impacting both our daily lives and public health. The respiratory pathway serves as the primary route for SARS-CoV2 propagation within the human body, with the lung acting as the initial target organ. Simultaneously, the lung functions as a protective barrier, preventing the entry of viruses into the bloodstream through the alveolar-capillary barrier.

is a common human pathogen with a variety of virulence factors, which can cause multiple infectious diseases. In recent decades, due to the constant evolution and the abuse of antibiotics, was becoming more resistant, the infection rate of MRSA remained high, and clinical treatment of MRSA became more difficult. The genetic diversity of MRSA was mainly represented by the continuous emergence of epidemic strains, resulting in the constant changes of epidemic clones.

Background: Ground glass nodules (GGN) of the lung may be a precursor of lung cancer and have received increasing attention in recent years with the popularity of low-dose high-resolution computed tomography (CT). Many studies have discussed imaging features that suggest the benignity or malignancy of GGN, but the extent of its postoperative pathological infiltration is poorly understood. In this study, we identified CT imaging features that indicate the extent of GGN pathological infiltration.
