The study of longevity and its determinants has been revitalized with the rise of microbiome scholarship. The gut microbiota have been established to play essential protective, metabolic, and physiological roles in human health and disease. The gut dysbiosis has been identified as an important factor contributing to the development of multiple diseases.

Educational interventions are considered an important component of antibiotic stewardship, but their effect has not been systematically evaluated in outpatient settings in China. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions for health workers on antibiotic prescribing rates in Chinese outpatient settings. Eight databases were searched for relevant randomized clinical trials, non-randomized trials, controlled before-after studies and interrupted time-series studies from January 2001 to July 2021.

To examine the effectiveness and safety of application of the ureteral access sheath in the treatment of middle or lower ureteral calculi in patients with large-volume benign prostatic hyperplasia above grade Ⅲ, which is expected to avoid the simultaneous or staged treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia via eliminate the difficult angle and resistance of ureteroscopy caused by severe prostatic hyperplasia. From April 2018 to December 2020, the clinical data of 27 patients with massive benign prostatic hyperplasia above grade Ⅲ and middle and lower ureteral calculi treated with indwelling ureteral access sheath plus ureteroscopy holmium laser lithotripsy at Department of Urology, Zhejiang Quhua Hospital were retrospectively analyzed and followed up. All the patients were male, aged (69.

Background: To investigate the effects of small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE)-derived decellularized lenticules on intraocular pressure (IOP) and conjunctival scarring in a rabbit model of glaucoma filtration surgery.
Methods: Trabeculectomy was performed on both eyes of New Zealand rabbits. A decellularized lenticule was placed in the subconjunctival space in one eye of the rabbits (the decellularized lenticule group), and no adjunctive treatment was performed in the fellow eye (the control group).

Background: Tears in Schwartz-Matsuo syndrome are generally confirmed by preoperative ophthalmoscopic examination. A case of Schwartz-Matsuo syndrome with a tear detected by ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) and treated by UBM-guided scleral buckling was reported, and its mechanism was analysed.
Case Presentation: A 40-year-old Chinese man presented with blurry vision and intermittent eye pain in his left eye for three days.

We developed the 3D-printed poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate)/calcium sulfate hemihydrate (PHBV/CaSH) scaffolds by using fused deposition modelling (FDM) technique and then coated the scaffolds with chitosan (CS) acetic acid solution. After drying and neutralization, CS hydrogel was formed on the surface of the scaffolds. The resultant PHBV/CaSH/CS scaffolds could promote the adhesion and proliferation of rat bone marrow stromal cells (rBMSCs) and enhance the osteogenesis of rBMSCs by up-regulating the expression level of osteogenic genes compared to the PHBV and PHBV/CaSH scaffolds.

Aims: The purpose of this study was to identify the genetic causes of a family presenting with multiple symptoms overlapping Usher syndrome type II (USH2) and Waardenburg syndrome type IV (WS4).
Methods: Targeted next-generation sequencing including the exon and flanking intron sequences of 79 deafness genes was performed on the proband. Co-segregation of the disease phenotype and the detected variants were confirmed in all family members by PCR amplification and Sanger sequencing.

Objective: Duct-to-mucosa and invagination are two commonly used techniques of pancreaticojejunostomy (PJ) after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Previously, we conducted a systematic review comparing the safety and efficacy of the two PJ techniques. Here, we added new evidence and updated our previous conclusion.

Purpose: To explore the genetic etiology of deafness in a dominant family with late-onset, progressive, nonsyndromic hearing loss.
Methods: Genome-wide linkage analysis was performed for 21 family members. Candidate pathogenic variants were identified by whole-exome sequencing of selected family members and confirmed by Sanger sequencing of all family members.

Objective: To investigate the clinical and genetic characteristics of a large family with late-onset, progressive autosomal dominant non-syndromic hearing loss.
Methods: Collections of detail history hereditary features, physical and audiological examination were performed. After mutation screening of GJB2, SLC26A4, MTRNR1 (12SrRNA) genes by Sanger sequencing, the proband was investigated by targeted next-generation sequencing of 79 deafness genes.
