Gliomas are a type of malignant central nervous system tumor with poor prognosis. Molecular biomarkers of gliomas can predict glioma patient's clinical outcome, but their limitations are also emerging. C-X-C motif chemokine ligand family plays a critical role in shaping tumor immune landscape and modulating tumor progression, but its role in gliomas is elusive.

Tumor-infiltrating immune cells (TIICs) have become an important source of markers for predicting the clinical outcomes of cancer patients. However, measurements of cellular heterogeneity vary due to the frequently updated reference genomes and gene annotations. In this study, we systematically collected and evaluated the infiltration pattern of 65 immune cells.

The latest research confirms that cytotoxic lymphocytes rely on pyroptosis to kill tumor cells, suggesting that pyroptosis plays a vital role in immune response. However, the influence of pyroptosis on tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling and immunotherapy is still unclear. We analyzed the variations in the expression of 28 pyroptosis-related molecules in pan-cancer tissues and normal tissues and the influence of genome changes.

Immune-checkpoint blockade (ICB) has been routinely implemented to treat bladder cancer; however, most patients have little or no clinical benefit. In this study, 348 pretreated metastatic urothelial cancer samples from the IMvigor210 cohort were used to identify important genes significantly associated with CD8+ T effector and immune checkpoint signatures. The immune checkpoint inhibitor score (IMS) scoring system was constructed to predict the immunotherapy responsiveness.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating disease, and there is currently no specific pharmacological treatment that can improve clinical outcomes. Y-2 sublingual tablets, each containing 30 mg edaravone and 6 mg (+)-borneol, is undergoing a phase III clinical trial for treatment of ischemic stroke in China. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the efficacy and potential mechanism of Y-2 in a rat model of collagenase IV injection induced ICH.

Though promoting ferroptosis can reduce cisplatin resistance in tumor cells, ferroptosis and cisplatin resistance in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BUC) following long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is largely unknown. Here, we found the highly expressed lncRNA MAF transcription factor G antisense RNA 1 (MAFG-AS1) in BUC, and its inhibition increased the sensitivity of BUC cells to cisplatin by promoting ferroptosis. Mechanically, binding to iron chaperone poly(rC)-binding protein 2 (PCBP2) facilitated the recruitments of MAFG-AS1 to deubiquitinase ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L5 (UCHL5), thus stabilizing PCBP2 protein itself.

Sepsis is a life-threatening inflammatory syndrome secondary to infection. Thanks to the advances of antibiotics and life-supporting techniques, the mortality of sepsis has been decreasing in recent decades. Nevertheless, sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is still common in septic patients, which promotes the mortality of septic patients and results in cognitive dysfunction in survivors.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) on cell apoptosis and oxidative stress in HO‑induced vertebral endplate chondrocytes (EPCs), and to assess the associated mechanisms involved. Cell viability and apoptosis were evaluated using the Cell Counting Kit‑8 method and TUNEL assay, respectively. In addition, the scavenging capability was detected using various enzymatic assays, and the quantity of nitric oxide (NO) and malondialdehyde (MDA), and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were assessed.

Background: Gliomas are one of the most common types of primary tumors in central nervous system. Previous studies have found that macrophages actively participate in tumor growth.
Methods: Weighted gene co-expression network analysis was used to identify meaningful macrophage-related gene genes for clustering.

Uveal melanoma (UVM) is an intraocular malignancy in adults in which approximately 50% of patients develop metastatic disease and have a poor prognosis. The need for immunotherapies has rapidly emerged, and recent research has yielded impressive results. Emerging evidence has implicated ferroptosis as a novel type of cell death that may mediate tumor-infiltrating immune cells to influence anticancer immunity.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) has the highest mortality rate among gynecologic malignancy. Hypoxia is a driver of the malignant progression in OC, which results in poor prognosis. We herein aimed to develop a validated model that was based on the hypoxia genes to systematically evaluate its prognosis in tumor immune microenvironment (TIM).

Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (HIRI) is a complex pathophysiological process that may develop after liver transplantation and resection surgery, as well as in uncontrolled clinical conditions. Bone marrow‑derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM‑MSCs) are potential targets for liver diseases. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the effects of superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) overexpression in BM‑MSCs on HIRI by constructing a HIRI rat model.

Background: A series of studies showed that endocardial radiofrequency ablation (ERFA) could reduce the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) gradient in patients with septal hypertrophy. This study aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of a modified ERFA approach guided by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) as an alternative to ablation performed under a three-dimensional (3D) electroanatomical system or intracardiac echocardiography (ICE).
Methods: Twenty-five patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) underwent ERFA of septal hypertrophy, guided by echocardiography.

Background: Chromobox family genes (CBXs) are known to play roles in numerous modifications of the chromatin in order to inhibit the transcription of target genes. CBXs have been shown to be expressed at high levels in many types of cancer and can also serve as a target gene for therapeutic purposes. However, little is known about the expression and prognostic value of CBXs in human sarcomas.
