In recent years, the mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) has not been fully elucidated. The balance between mitochondrial fission and fusion is important for PSCI. Our previous research demonstrated that electroacupuncture can improve learning and memory in middle cerebral artery ischemia reperfusion (MCAO/R) rats.

A high-sensitivity, low-cost, self-powered biomass electrochemical biosensor based on the "evaporating potential" theory is developed for protein detection. The feasibility of experimental evaluation methods was verified with a probe protein of bovine serum albumin. The sensor was then used to detect lung cancer marker CYFRA21-1, and the potential of our sensor for clinical diagnosis was demonstrated by serum analysis.

The use of two-dimensional heterostructure composite as electrode modification material has become a new strategy to improve the electrocatalytic activity and electroactive sites of electrochemical sensor. Herein, a soluble heterostructure, namely rGO-PSS@MXene, was designed and synthesized by integrating poly (sodium p-styrenesulfonate)-functionalized reduced graphene oxide into MXene nanosheets via ultrasonic method. The interactive heterostructure can effectively alleviate the self-stacking of MXene and rGO, endowing them with superior electron transfer capacity and large specific surface area, thereby producing prominent synergistic electrocatalytic effect towards rutin.

Background: Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) have become firmly established in treatment algorithms and national guidelines for improving glycemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).To report the findings from a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial, which was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of a novel DPP-4 inhibitor fotagliptin in treatment-naive patients with T2DM.

Methods: Patients with T2DM were randomized to receive fotagliptin (n = 230), alogliptin (n = 113) or placebo (n = 115) at a 2:1:1 ratio for 24 weeks of double-blind treatment period, followed by an open-label treatment period, making up a total of 52 weeks.

This research aimed to investigate whether melatonin affected sensitivity to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in colorectal cancer (CRC) as well as to show the underlying molecular mechanism. Melatonin and 5-FU were added to CRC cells at varying doses. The effect of melatonin on sensitivity to 5-FU was investigated by measuring cell activity and apoptosis, and the potential underlying mechanism was further explored by detecting miR-532-3p expression and the associated pathway proteins.

As alcohol consumption increases, alcoholic liver disease (ALD) has become more popular and is threating our human life. In this study, we found mulberry fruit extract (MFE) repaired alcohol-caused liver diseases by regulating hepatic lipid biosynthesis pathway and oxidative singling in alcoholically liver injured (ALI) rats. MFE administration inhibited hepatic lipid accumulation and improved liver steatosis in ALI rats.

Objective: Basic scientific studies have demonstrated positive effects of platelet-rich therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), on tendon repair. However, clinical evidence indicating improved prognosis is controversial. In this study, we aimed to determine whether augmentation of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with PRP and PRF improves outcomes compared to arthroscopic repair alone.

Lenvatinib was approved in 2018 as a first-line treatment for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to provide the most updated evidence about the efficacy and safety of lenvatinib as a first-line treatment for unresectable HCC. An electronic search of the PubMed database, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library was undertaken to identify all relevant studies up to May 2022.

A novel SnO quantum dots (SnOQDs)-functionalized TiC MXene nanocomposite was prepared via in situ synthesis method, resulting in well-regulated the nucleation and growth of SnOQDs to evenly distribute onto MXene nanosheets. Ultra-small size SnOQDs decorated on the surface of TiC MXene nanosheets can effectively prevent the restacking of MXene and remarkably increase the electroactive surface area of the electrode, which can further increase electrocatalytic activity toward dopamine. Then, an ultrasensitive electroanalytical method based on SnOQDs-functionalized TiC MXene nanocomposite for dopamine monitoring was developed, and the effects of experimental condition were investigated systematically.

Background: Ferroptosis, a form of cell death driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, may be a potential treatment for many cancers, including cervical cancer (CC). However, the regulation of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in the process of ferroptosis and whether ferroptosis inducers could increase the cytotoxicity of conventional chemotherapy drugs remain to be further elucidated.

Methods: We analyzed the variation of 55 differentially ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) and the influence of mutations in CC patients.

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is one of the most usual types of adult lymphoma with heterogeneousness in histological morphology, prognosis, and clinical indications. Prior to this, several studies were carried out to determine the DLBCL subtype based on the analysis of the genome profile. However, classification based on assessment of genes related to the immune system has limited clinical significance for DLBCL.

Background And Objectives: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS)/acne inversa is an intractable skin disease that is characterized by destructive lesions - primarily on the flexural areas. Although its etiology is unknown, genetics is considered to be a factor of its pathology - mutations in γ-secretase genes have been identified in certain familial HS patients, and follicular occlusion is widely accepted as the primary cause of HS. But, no relationship between these mutations and the components of hair follicles has been reported.

Metformin is a first-line anti-diabetic agent with a powerful hypoglycemic effect. Several studies have reported that metformin can improve the prognosis of stroke patients and that this effect is independent of its hypoglycemic effect; however, the specific mechanism remains unclear. In this research, we explored the effect and specific mechanism of metformin in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury by constructing a transient middle cerebral artery occlusion model and a glucose and oxygen deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) model .
