Introduction: Depression is the most common mental illness among older adults, with substantial and persistent mood depression as the main clinical feature, which is unfavorable for improvement. The clinical manifestations can range from melancholy to grief or even numbness. Approximately one-third of older adult patients exhibit physical discomfort as the first symptom; dysgeusia as the first symptom, is very rare in clinical practice.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a major contributor to cancer-related deaths, distinguished by its pronounced tumor heterogeneity and persistent challenges in overcoming drug resistance. In this study, we utilized single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to dissect the roles of programmed cell death (PCD) pathways, including apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis, in shaping LUAD heterogeneity, immune infiltration, and prognosis. Among these, ferroptosis and pyroptosis were most significantly associated with favorable survival outcomes, highlighting their potential roles in enhancing anti-tumor immunity.

Sex differences in schizophrenia have been noted across domains such as alexithymia and cognitive function; however, how they interact remains unclear. This study aimed to explore sex differences in the relationship between alexithymia and cognitive function in patients with chronic schizophrenia. A total of 695 patients (464 males and 231 females) who met the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia were recruited in this cross-sectional study.

Objective: Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5-positive dermatomyositis-associated interstitial lung disease (MDA5DM-ILD) often leads to acute respiratory failure and endangers lives. This study quantitatively analysed chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) images to assess MDA5DM-ILD and establish a risk prediction model for severe ILD within six months.
Methods: We developed a 'Standardized Threshold Ratio Analysis & Distribution' (STRAD) to analyse lung HRCT images.

Patients with schizophrenia with early onset age have been shown to exhibit more severe negative symptoms. Genetic, biomarker, postmortem brain, and imaging studies indicate the involvement of immune abnormalities in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. In this study, we examined the moderating role of early onset on the associations between clinical symptoms and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in medication-naïve first-episode schizophrenia (MNFES).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumours in China, at high annual incidence and mortality. Chronic hepatitis B virus infection (CHB) is considered as a leading cause to bring about HCC in China. Serum albumin (ALB) level has been adopted to verify its risk with HCC development as a combination variable with other factors.

Despite significant advancements in surgical instruments and operation skills, short- and long-term outcomes following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) remain unsatisfactory, as many patients fail to return to their pre-injury level of sports. Inadequate ACL rehabilitation is the primary cause of poor outcomes. Nurses have become a crucial element in the rehabilitation process.

Differential activation of macrophages is associated with poor progression of breast cancer (BC). Many reports have elucidated the important involvement of exosomes produced by cancer cells in remodeling the macrophage activation phenotype to promote tumor expansion and invasion. However, the underlying mechanisms by which exosomes secreted by BC cells facilitate macrophage M2 polarization remain enigmatic and worth exploring.

Adolescent mood disorders (MD) have become an important public health problem worldwide. However, the psychopathological mechanisms underlying the occurrence of adolescent MD remain poorly elucidated. Therefore, in this study, we explored the mediating role of psychological resilience in the effects of rumination on depression in Chinese adolescents with MD.

Circular RNA (circRNA) is involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis (AS). The present work analyzed the RNA expression of circ_0113656, microRNA-188-3p (miR-188-3p), and insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The protein expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), matrix metalloprotein 2 (MMP2), and IGF2 was detected by Western blotting.

Imperatorin, an active ingredient extracted from Angelica and Qianghuo, has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative stress damage, blocking calcium channels, and other properties. Our preliminary findings revealed the protective role of imperatorin in the treatment of vascular dementia, we further explored the underlying mechanisms concerning the neuroprotection function of imperatorin in vascular dementia. The cobalt chloride (CCl2)-induced chemical hypoxia and hypoglycemia of hippocampal neuronal cells was applied as in vitro vascular dementia model.

The present study aimed to explore the biological functions of microRNA (miR)-146b-5p and homeodomain interacting protein kinase 1 (HIPK1) in the progression of hepatic fibrosis (HF) and to identify the underlying mechanism. A rat HF model was established by administering a subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride (CCl). Relative levels of miR-146b-5p and HIPK1 in fibrotic rat liver tissues and the rat hepatic stellate cell (HSC) line HSC-T6 were measured by quantitative reverse transcription PCR, western blotting and immunohistochemistry.

Osteosarcoma is one of the commonest metastatic tumor in children and teenagers, and has a hopeless, prognosis. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) acts momentous roles as a regulator on the proliferation and migration of cancer. Here, we performed GEO database analysis and qPCR to identify differentially expressed lncRNAs in osteosarcoma cells.

Background: Resistance development to paclitaxel (PTX) has become a major obstacle in the successful treatment of breast cancer (BC). Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified as essential regulators in PTX resistance of BC. Here, we explored the precise roles of circRNA homeodomain interacting protein kinase 3 (circHIPK3, circ_0000284) in PTX resistance of BC.

This study intends to address the function of miR-301b/nuclear receptor subfamily 3 group C member 2 (NR3C2) in breast cancer. The Cancer Genome Atlas database was processed to investigate the expression of miR-301b/NR3C2 in breast cancer samples, as well as the relationship between their expression and the prognosis of the patients. Cox regression analysis was performed to determine whether miR-301b/NR3C2 was an independent predictor of the patient's prognosis.
