Case report: Depression in an older patient with dysgeusia as the initial symptom.

Introduction: Depression is the most common mental illness among older adults, with substantial and persistent mood depression as the main clinical feature, which is unfavorable for improvement. The clinical manifestations can range from melancholy to grief or even numbness. Approximately one-third of older adult patients exhibit physical discomfort as the first symptom; dysgeusia as the first symptom, is very rare in clinical practice.

Programmed cell death pathways in lung adenocarcinoma: illuminating tumor drug resistance and therapeutic opportunities through single-cell analysis.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a major contributor to cancer-related deaths, distinguished by its pronounced tumor heterogeneity and persistent challenges in overcoming drug resistance. In this study, we utilized single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) to dissect the roles of programmed cell death (PCD) pathways, including apoptosis, necroptosis, pyroptosis, and ferroptosis, in shaping LUAD heterogeneity, immune infiltration, and prognosis. Among these, ferroptosis and pyroptosis were most significantly associated with favorable survival outcomes, highlighting their potential roles in enhancing anti-tumor immunity.

Sex difference in alexithymia and cognitive impairment in chronic schizophrenia: a large sample study based on Chinese Han population.

Sex differences in schizophrenia have been noted across domains such as alexithymia and cognitive function; however, how they interact remains unclear. This study aimed to explore sex differences in the relationship between alexithymia and cognitive function in patients with chronic schizophrenia. A total of 695 patients (464 males and 231 females) who met the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia were recruited in this cross-sectional study.

Severe interstitial lung disease risk prediction in anti-melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 positive dermatomyositis: the STRAD-Ro52 model.

Objective: Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5-positive dermatomyositis-associated interstitial lung disease (MDA5DM-ILD) often leads to acute respiratory failure and endangers lives. This study quantitatively analysed chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) images to assess MDA5DM-ILD and establish a risk prediction model for severe ILD within six months.

Methods: We developed a 'Standardized Threshold Ratio Analysis & Distribution' (STRAD) to analyse lung HRCT images.

The present work analyzed the RNA expression of circ_0113656, microRNA-188-3p (miR-188-3p), and insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The protein expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), matrix metalloprotein 2 (MMP2), and IGF2 was detected by Western blotting.

Prevalence and Related Factors of Insomnia Among Chinese Medical Staff in the Middle and Late Stage of COVID-19.

The outbreak of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has brought serious psychological pressure to people, especially medical health staff. At present, there are few studies on insomnia and related factors of medical health staff in the middle and late stage of the epidemic of COVID-19. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of insomnia and its related risk factors among medical workers in China in the middle and later stage of COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the relationship between insomnia and psychological resilience.

miR-301b and NR3C2 co-regulate cells malignant properties and have the potential to be independent prognostic factors in breast cancer.

This study intends to address the function of miR-301b/nuclear receptor subfamily 3 group C member 2 (NR3C2) in breast cancer. The Cancer Genome Atlas database was processed to investigate the expression of miR-301b/NR3C2 in breast cancer samples, as well as the relationship between their expression and the prognosis of the patients. Cox regression analysis was performed to determine whether miR-301b/NR3C2 was an independent predictor of the patient's prognosis.
