Background: Sexual dysfunction is a common symptom in patients with schizophrenia, especially in chronically medicated patients. However, the relationship between sexual dysfunction and emotional response to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia remains unclear. This study aimed to assess the incidence, risk factors of sexual dysfunction in males, and their clinical correlations to sexual arousal in male patients with schizophrenia in China.

Background: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) fusions are rare genomic events in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Clinical support and evidence to guide management are absent for NSCLC patients harboring EGFR fusion.
Case Presentation: In this case report, we describe a 69-year-old female who received right lobectomy and was diagnosed with pathological stage IIIA lung adenocarcinoma harboring EGFR L858R.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for 70-85% of liver cancer, and about 85% of HCC are hepatitis B virus-related (HBV-HCC) in China. Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been reported as an effective treatment. Potential biomarkers to stratify patients who may benefit from this treatment are needed.

Background: Resistance development to paclitaxel (PTX) has become a major obstacle in the successful treatment of breast cancer (BC). Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified as essential regulators in PTX resistance of BC. Here, we explored the precise roles of circRNA homeodomain interacting protein kinase 3 (circHIPK3, circ_0000284) in PTX resistance of BC.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a serious public health problem worldwide and has high morbidity and mortality. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) exhibits anticancer effect on a variety of malignancies, but its anticancer function of DHM in HCC has been unclear. The aim of this study was designed to investigate the anticancer effect of DHM on cell apoptosis, proliferation, migration and invasion of hepatoma carcinoma cells.

Introduction: The mortality rate of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)continues to increase because sensitive, early and readily available diagnostic tools are lacking. To address this problem, we aimed to identify diagnosticbio markers to be used for early detection of HCC.
Materials And Methods: miR-93-5p was selected as a candidate biomarker based on the analyses of relevant Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets; it was validated using qPCR to quantify its expression levels in tissue, plasma and saliva sample sets.

Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) fragmentomics, which encompasses the measurement of cfDNA length and short nucleotide motifs at the ends of cfDNA molecules, is an emerging field for cancer diagnosis. The utilization of cfDNA fragmentomics for the diagnosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) is currently limited. In this study, we utilized whole-genome sequencing data of cfDNA in samples from patients with HCC (n = 197) and HBV (n = 187) to analyze the association of fragment size selection (< 150 bp) with tumor fraction (TF), copy number variation (CNV) alterations and the change in the proportion of 4-mer end motifs in HCC and HBV samples.

Cancer is a complex disease, driven by a combination of genetic and epigenetic alterations. DNA and RNA methylation modifications are the most common epigenetic events that play critical roles in cancer development and progression. Bisulfite converted sequencing is a widely used technique to detect base modifications in DNA methylation, but its main drawbacks lie in DNA degradation, lack of specificity, or short reads with low sequence diversity.

Xiyanping (XYP) is a Chinese herbal medicine used in the clinic to treat respiratory infection and pneumonia. Recent evidence identified XYP as a potential inhibitor of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, implying XYP as a possible treatment for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Here, we conducted a prospective, multicenter, open-label and randomized controlled trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of XYP injection in patients with mild to moderate COVID-19.

In view of the complicated pathophysiological process of vascular dementia (VD), drugs for the clinical treatment of VD mainly target related risk factors, while drugs with excellent efficacy in cognitive function are still relatively lacking. Imperatorin (IMP), an active constituent extracted from angelica dahuricae and notopterygium Notopterygii, which has anti-inflammatory, vasodilator, anticoagulant, block calcium channel, anticonvulsant, and anti oxygen free radical injury properties. Therefore, the present study examined its effects on VD rats and the underlying molecular mechanisms, in order to provide promising therapeutic methods.

Background: Patients with antipsychotic-naïve first-episode (ANFE) schizophrenia (SZ) can help clarify many confounding factors in determining sex differences in antipsychotic drug induced weight gain and its association with symptom improvement.
Methods: This 8-week longitudinal trial of ANFE patients with SZ enrolled 526 patients and 313 healthy controls. We evaluated bodyweight and the efficacy of antipsychotics on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) at baseline and at the end of week 8.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is a malignant tumor that not only negatively affects the physical and mental health but also the quality of life of the patients. Growth arrest-specific transcript 5 (GAS5) is a common long-chain non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that has been reported to participate in the development of various cancers. However, the biological functions of lncRNA GAS5 in the occurrence and development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are elusive.

This study intends to address the function of miR-301b/nuclear receptor subfamily 3 group C member 2 (NR3C2) in breast cancer. The Cancer Genome Atlas database was processed to investigate the expression of miR-301b/NR3C2 in breast cancer samples, as well as the relationship between their expression and the prognosis of the patients. Cox regression analysis was performed to determine whether miR-301b/NR3C2 was an independent predictor of the patient's prognosis.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a pandemic. Reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) has played a vital role in the diagnosis of COVID-19, but the rates of false negatives is not ideal in dealing with this highly infectious virus. It is thus necessary to systematically evaluate the clinical performance of the single-, dual-, triple-target detection kits to guide the clinical diagnosis of this disease.

Whether the expression status of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) receptor and Ki-67 show concordance between the primary tumors and the synchronous axillary lymph node (ALN) metastases has been discussed in numerous studies. However, to date, the results of these studies remain controversial. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate whether the expression of ER, PR, HER-2 and Ki-67 was in concordance between the primary tumors and synchronous ALN metastases in patients with operable breast cancer (BC).

Herein, a bovine serum albumin-stabilized gold clusters-MnO nanocomposite (BSA@AuNCs-MnO) was constructed. Manganese dioxide (MnO) was generated in situ on the gold clusters (BSA@AuNCs) based on the redox reaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and potassium permanganate (KMnO). The fluorescence of BSA@AuNCs can be quenched by the in-situ grown MnO, which has strong light absorption ability.
