Background: The study was conducted to retrospectively evaluate the safety and effectiveness of computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) for peripheral non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in 11 patients with a single lung after pneumonectomy.

Methods: From May 2011 to March 2015, 11 single-lung patients (8 men and 3 women; mean age 60.3 years, range 46-71) with peripheral NSCLC underwent 12 sessions of MWA.

Aberrant sylvian vein: A newly described cause of pulsatile tinnitus.

J Int Med Res

October 2017

3 Department of Radiology, Capital Medical University, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Xicheng District, Beijing, China.

We herein report a newly described cause of venous pulsatile tinnitus: protrusion of an aberrant sylvian vein into the tympanum. A 60-year-old woman presented with a 4-month history of objective persistent pulsatile tinnitus in the right ear with no other complaints. The pulsatile tinnitus diminished with rotation of the head to the right side or by compression of the right cervical vascular structures.

Objective: To evaluate the changes in cerebral hemodynamics of patients with different degrees of cerebral vasospasm before and after the nimodipine treatment using transcranial two-dimensional and color Doppler ultrasonography (TCCS).

Patients And Methods: A total of 77 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage was collected; and the maximum peak systolic velocity (Vs), end diastolic velocity (Vd), time averaged maximum velocity (Vm), pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) of middle cerebral artery (MCA) were measured by spectral Doppler technique. The standard-dose nimodipine was given for clinical treatment, and changes in blood flow velocity of MCA were monitored by TCCS, and the therapeutic effect was observed.

The present study aimed to investigate the protective effects of rAAV9-CyclinA2 combined with fibrin glue (FG) in vivo in rats after myocardial infarction (MI). Ninety male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into 6 groups (15 in each group): sham, MI, rAAV9-green fluorescent protein (GFP) + MI, rAAV9-CyclinA2 + MI, FG + MI, and rAAV9-CyclinA2 + FG + MI. Packed virus (5 × 10vg/ml) in 150 µl of normal saline or FG was injected into the infarcted myocardium at five locations in rAAV9-GFP + MI, rAAV9-CyclinA2 + MI, and rAAV9-CyclinA2 + FG + MI groups.

Fluorescence in situ hybridization is superior for monitoring Epstein Barr viral load in infectious mononucleosis patients.

BMC Infect Dis

May 2017

The Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis of the Chinese Ministry of Health, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China.

Background: Epstein Barr virus (EBV) plays a causal role in some diseases, including infectious mononucleosis, lymphoproliferative diseases and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Detection of EBV infection has been shown to be a useful tool for diagnosing EBV-related diseases. In the present study, we compared the performance of molecular tests, including fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and EBV real-time PCR, to those of serological assays for the detection of EBV infection.

SDF-1/CXCR7 axis regulates the proliferation, invasion, adhesion, and angiogenesis of gastric cancer cells.

World J Surg Oncol

October 2016

Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, People's Hospital of Dezhou, 1751 Xin Hu Road, Dezhou, Shandong Province, 253014, People's Republic of China.

Background: More recent studies have revealed that chemokine receptor CXCR7 plays an important role in cancer development. However, little is known about the effect of CXCR7 on the process of gastric cancer cell invasion and angiogenesis. The aim of this study is to investigate the expression of CXCR7 in gastric cancer cell lines and to evaluate the role of CXCR7 in the proliferation, invasion, adhesion, and angiogenesis of gastric cancer cells.

Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cisplatin with pemtrexed or vinorelbine and concurrent late course accelerated hyperfractionated radiotherapy (LCAHRT). Patients with unresectable stage III non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were randomly assigned to two regimens. The experimental (PP) arm included cisplatin, pemtrexed and concurrent LCAHRT based on bilateral lung V20 = 33%.

Cadmium, a highly toxic environmental pollutant, is reported to induce toxicity and apoptosis in multiple organs and cells, all possibly contributing to apoptosis in certain pathophysiologic situations. Previous studies have described that cadmium toxicity induces biochemical and physiological changes in the heart and finally leads to cardiac dysfunctions, such as decreasing contractile tension, rate of tension development, heart rate, coronary flow rate and atrioventricular node conductivity. Although many progresses have been made, the mechanism responsible for cadmium-induced cellular alternations and cardiac toxicity is still not fully understood.

The aim of this study was to investigate the pathogenesis of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection and its association with cardiac and hepatic damage. Between March 2013 and March 2014, 59 children with MP pneumonia (MPP) and 30 healthy children were enrolled. Serum titers of TLR4, T cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain (TIM) 3, IL-10, TNF-α, and IFN-γ were measured both in children with MPP and healthy children.
