Objectives: Programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) is the only Food and Drug Administration-approved biomarker for monitoring response to immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy in patients with lung adenocarcinoma. Understanding the nuances of molecular phenotypes, clinical attributes, and PD-L1 expression levels in primary and metastatic lung adenocarcinoma may help predict response to therapy and assist in the clinical management of lung adenocarcinoma.

Methods: A total of 235 primary and metastatic lesion specimens from patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) an institution in Shandong, China were analyzed.

Background: The genomic features of cancer cells may confer the metastatic ability of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) to metastasize to specific organs. We aimed to identify the differences in genomic alterations between patients with primary LUAD with and without metastases and to elucidate the metastatic biology that may help developing biomarker-directed therapies for advanced or metastatic disease.

Methods: A retrospective cohort of 497 patients with LUAD including 388 primary tumors (PR), 53 bone metastases (MT-bone), 30 liver metastases (MT-liver), and 26 brain metastases (MT-brain) was tested for genomic alterations by a next-generation sequencing assay.

Introduction: Gastric cancer is a frequently detected malignancy, and its incidence has increased over the past decades in East Asia. The present study investigated the effect of 5,7,2, 5-tetrahydroxy-8,6-dimethoxyflavone (THDMF) on gastric cancer cells and explored the underlying mechanism. The study analysed cell viability changes, apoptotic features, and metastasis potential of treatment with THDMF.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined microwave ablation (MWA) and osteoplasty as a palliative therapy for painful bone metastases.

Materials And Methods: As an extension of a previous limited single-center study, a retrospective review was conducted for 147 patients (77 male, 70 female) with painful bone metastases who underwent MWA combined with osteoplasty. In total, 102 (69.

Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is endowed with the oncolytic ability to kill tumor cells, while rarely causing side effects in normal cells. Both estrogen receptor α (ERα) and the G protein estrogen receptor (GPER) modulate multiple biological activities in response to estrogen, including apoptosis in breast cancer (BC) cells. Here, we investigated whether NDV-D90, a novel strain isolated from natural sources in China, promoted apoptosis by modulating the expression of ERα or the GPER in BC cells exposed to 17β-estradiol (E2).

MicroRNAs are reported as a vital important factor in cancer cell initiation and progression processes. MicroRNA-19-3p has drawn the attention of many researchers in recent years because of its wide expression and its key role in serious kinds of tumor cells. However, the detailed mechanism of microRNA-19a-3p in these tumors is still poorly understood.

Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to see if combining microwave ablation (MWA) with chemotherapy improves survival rates for patients with advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) compared to chemotherapy alone.
  • A total of 293 patients were randomly divided into two groups, with results showing that the MWA plus chemotherapy group had a significantly longer median progression-free survival (10.3 months) and overall survival (not yet reached) than the chemotherapy-only group (4.9 months and 12.6 months, respectively).
  • The combination treatment resulted in better survival outcomes without significantly increasing adverse events compared to chemotherapy alone.

Aims: Sepsis is defined as a life-threatening organ dysfunction that is caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Although much progress has been made in understanding the pathophysiology of sepsis, further discussion and study of the detailed therapeutic mechanisms are needed. Autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress are two pathways of the complicated regulatory network of sepsis.

MicroRNA-589-5p (miR-589-5p) has been recently reported to be aberrantly regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma, but its functional role and molecular mechanisms still remains unknown in the endometrial carcinoma (EC) as one of the most common female malignancies. EC tissues and adjacent tissues were collected to determine the expression of miR-589-5p and thyroid receptor interacting protein 6 (TRIP6) using quantitative real time-PCR. Subsequently, two EC cell lines HEC-1B and AN3CA were transfected with miR-589-5p to achieve miR-589-5p overexpression.

Correlation of xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group F (XPF) expression with gastric cancer and prognosis was investigated. We randomly selected 76 gastric cancer patients who were admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Dezhou City and received treatment, and detected XPF expression in gastric cancer tissues (observation group) and normal gastric mucosa adjacent to tumor (control group) via immunohistochemistry. Correlation between XPF expression and clinicopathological indicators of gastric cancer was verified via single-factor Chi-square test.
