Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) acts as a fatal malignant tumor among human beings and is marked by late-stage diagnosis, frequent recurrence, metastasis, and therapy resistance. Tumor abnormal protein (TAP) remarkably affects cancer development and progression of human cancers. TAP has been shown to be a biomarker for gastric and lung cancer progression.

Tumour-associated macrophages (TAMs) can be divided into M1 and M2 TAMs. M2 TAMs play an important role in tumor progression, promoting a pro-angiogenic and immunosuppressive signal in the tumor. Previous studies have shown a correlation between schistosomiasis and colorectal cancer (CRC), but the specific mechanism has not been clarified.

Department of Oncology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Hefei, Anhui 230022, People's Republic of China.
Background: In China, gastric cancer (GC) ranks second in incidence and mortality. Over 80% of patients with GC were diagnosed at an advanced stage with poor clinical outcome. Chemotherapy was the mainstream treatment with limited benefit.

Department of Thoracic Surgery, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University, Suzhou 215004, China.
Background: The radial artery (RA) is increasingly being used for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy (ETS) has been shown to block innervation of sympathetic nerves of upper limbs, which reduces sweating of hands and dilates blood vessels. The modified Allen's test (MAT) is one of the commonest methods of assessing collateral arm flow prior to RA harvest, though it has limitations.

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, People's Hospital of Chizhou, Chizhou, People's Republic of China.
Background: The most common cancer among humans is lung cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) comprises the majority of these cases. In the development and progression of cancers across the spectrum, tumor abnormal protein (TAP) plays crucial roles.

Numerous acquired molecular and cytogenetic abnormalities are strongly associated with hematological malignancies. The breakpoint cluster region-ABL proto-oncogene 1 () rearrangement leads to a p210 chimeric protein in typical chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), whereas 17-25% of patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia and 0.9-3% patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) carry a p190 fusion protein.

A series of 17β-amide-2-methoxyestradiol compounds were synthesized with an aim to enhance the antiproliferative effect of 2-methoxyestradiol. The antiproliferative activity of 2-methoxyestradiol analogs against human cancer cells was investigated. 2-methoxy-3-benzyloxy-17β-chloroacetamide-1,3,5(10)-triene (5e) and 2-methoxy-3-hydroxy-17β-butyramide-1,3,5(10)-triene (6c) had comparable or better antitumor activity than 2-methoxyestradiol.

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been suggested to be involved in the development and progression of malignancies. However, the investigation of small nucleolar RNA host gene 20 (SNHG20) on cancer progression remains unknown. The present study aims to explore the clinical significance of SNHG20 and its potential molecular mechanism in colorectal cancer (CRC).

The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical significance of SPRY4-IT1 in patients with malignant melanoma. The relative expression levels of SPRY4-IT1 were measured in plasma samples from 70 patients and 79 healthy controls by quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction.

A recently invented duodenal-jejunal bypass sleeve (DJBS) implanted in the duodenum and proximal jejunum has exhibited good glycemic control in diabetes mellitus. However, the specific mechanism by which DJBS placement induces the remission of diabetes is not well known. Previous studies have indicated that changes in the pattern of gut hormone secretion may play a role.

Background: The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the necessity of nasogastric or nasojejunal decompression after gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
Methods: Medline, Embase and the Cochrane Library were searched. Only prospective randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared subjects with and without nasogastric or nasojejunal decompression after gastrectomy were eligible in this meta-analysis.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in the peripheral blood could serve as a surrogate marker for the diagnosis of cancer metastasis and for therapeutic evaluation. However, the separation and characterization of CTCs is technically challenging owing to the extremely low number of CTCs present. Here we developed a size-based and high-throughput microfluidic chip, which exploits filtration microchannels to isolate the relatively larger CTCs from the rest of the blood constituents.

Objective: To understand the major viral pathogens for infant diarrhea in Chizhou, Anhui.
Methods: Fecal specimens were collected from 428 infants hospitalized with diarrhea in People's Hospital of Chizhou, Anhui between January 2005 and December 2006. Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were performed to detected specific antigens of rotavirus, astrovirus, adenovirus or calicivirus.
