Objective: This study aimed to analyze and compare the proportion of patients with different types of inflammatory arthritis and investigate the clinical characteristics, including symptoms and signs, medication choices, and disease activity, in the daily clinical practice of China.

Methods: Patients with inflammatory arthritis were recruited from 16 Grade-A tertiary hospitals between August 2021 and April 2022. The medical profiles, encompassing sociodemographic characteristics, clinical and laboratory date, were collected.

Introduction: Novel fluid biomarkers for tracking neurodegeneration specific to Alzheimer's disease (AD) are greatly needed.

Methods: Using two independent well-characterized cohorts (n = 881 in total), we investigated the group differences in plasma N-terminal tau (NT1-tau) fragments across different AD stages and their association with cross-sectional and longitudinal amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques, tau tangles, brain atrophy, and cognitive decline.

Results: Plasma NT1-tau significantly increased in symptomatic AD and displayed positive associations with Aβ PET (positron emission tomography) and tau PET.

Global burden of bacterial skin diseases from 1990 to 2045: an analysis based on global burden disease data.

Bacterial skin diseases are a category of inflammatory skin conditions caused by bacterial infections, which impose a significant global disease burden. However, they have not been well assessed or predicted on a global scale. It is necessary to update the estimates and forecast future trends of the global burden of bacterial skin diseases to evaluate the impact of past healthcare policies and to provide guidance and information for new national and international healthcare strategies.

Introduction: Delirium is a common acute cognitive impairment characterised by confusion, disorientation and attention deficits, particularly prevalent in intensive care unit (ICU) settings. Given its significant impact on patients, caregivers and healthcare resources, preventing delirium in patients in the ICU is of paramount importance. This is the first randomised-controlled trial designed to evaluate the effects of a virtual reality-based sensory stimulation intervention on preventing delirium in ICU patients.

This article reviews plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (ELNs), and highlights their potential in regenerative medicine. Various extraction techniques, including ultracentrifugation and ultrafiltration, and their impact on ELN purity and yield were discussed. Characterization methods such as microscopy and particle analysis are found to play crucial roles in defining ELN properties.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease that affects the entire joint and has been a huge burden on the health care system worldwide. Although traditional therapy and targeted cartilage cell therapy have made significant progress in the treatment of OA and cartilage regeneration, there are still many problems. Mesenchymal stem cells from various tissues are the most studied cell type and have been used in preclinical and clinical studies of OA, because they are more widely available, have a greater capacity for in expansion, and have anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties compared to autologous chondrocytes.

Aim: The aim of this systematic review is to present the pooled estimated prevalence and risk factors for cognitive impairment (CI) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Background: Patients with COPD suffer from progressive and irreversible airflow limitation, resulting in continuous impairment of lung function, which in addition to causing lesions in the lungs, often accrues to other organs as well. In recent years, a growing number of cross-sectional and longitudinal studies have shown that hypoxia is an important factor in causing CI and that there is an important link between them, but the assessment of co-morbid neurocognitive impairment and dysfunction is often overlooked.

Downregulated CCND3 Is a Key Event Driving Lung Adenocarcinoma Metastasis during Acquired Cisplatin Resistance.

Cyclin D3 (CCND3), a member of the cyclin D family, is known to promote cell cycle transition. In this study, we found that CCND3 was downregulated in cisplatin-resistant (-diamminedichloroplatinum, DDP) lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells. The loss of CCND3 indeed impeded cell cycle transition.

Exploring the potential association between serum selenium and hypertension in obese adult males in the United States.

Previous studies on the correlation between serum selenium and hypertension have yielded inconsistent results. Our previous analysis of participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2011-2018 indicated that elevated serum selenium concentrations were associated with an increased risk of metabolic abnormalities in obese individuals, with the primary effect being on blood pressure in males. The aim of this study was to further elucidate the relationship between serum selenium and the risk of hypertension in obese males.

Surgical correction of cavus foot may promote quality of life in patients with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease: A retrospective study.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is a hereditary peripheral neuropathy leading to neuromuscular impairments, muscle atrophy, and functional limitations. Currently, no specific treatment exists to restore muscle strength in patients with CMT, and the disease can be severely disabling.
