This study aimed to investigate the current contract rate and residents' willingness to contract with general practitioner (GP) services in Guangzhou, China, during the policy trial phase, and also to explore the association of behavior contract and contract willingness with variables based on Andersen's Behavioral Model of Health Services Use (ABM). In total, 160 residents from community health centers (CHCs) and 202 residents from hospitals were recruited in this study. The outcome variables were behavior contract and contract willingness.

The early postnatal stage is a critical period of hippocampal neurodevelopment and also a period of high vulnerability to adverse life experiences. Recent evidence suggests that nectin-3, a cell adhesion molecule, mediates memory dysfunction and dendritic alterations in the adult hippocampus induced by postnatal stress. But it is unknown whether postnatal nectin-3 reduction alone is sufficient to alter hippocampal structure and function in adulthood.

What Is Known And Objective: Dopamine D receptor (DRD2) polymorphisms are inconsistently associated with elevated prolactin levels related to risperidone treatment. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate whether DRD2 polymorphisms could modulate prolactin levels in patients treated with risperidone.
Methods: Three electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library) were searched for studies investigating the effect of DRD2 polymorphisms on prolactin levels in patients treated with risperidone until May 2018.

Background: Exposure to adverse experiences in early life may profoundly reshape the neurodevelopmental trajectories of the brain and lead to long-lasting behavioral and neural alterations. One deleterious effect of early-life stress that manifests in later life is sleep disturbance, but this has not been examined in aged mice and the underlying neural mechanisms remain unknown. Considering the important role of the nucleus accumbens (NAc) in the sleep-wake regulation, this study aimed to assess the effects of early-life stress on the sleep behaviors in aged mice and the potential involvement of the NAc in stress-induced sleep abnormalities.

The electroencephalogram (EEG) is an informative neuroimaging tool for studying attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); one main goal is to characterize the EEG of children with ADHD. In this study, we employed the power spectrum, complexity and bicoherence, biomarker candidates for identifying ADHD children in a machine learning approach, to characterize resting-state EEG (rsEEG). We built support vector machine classifiers using a single type of feature, all features from a method (relative spectral power, spectral power ratio, complexity or bicoherence), or all features from all four methods.

Recent large-scale genetic approaches, such as genome-wide association studies, have identified multiple genetic variations that contribute to the risk of mental illnesses, among which single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within or near the vaccinia related kinase 2 () gene have gained consistent support for their correlations with multiple psychiatric and neurological disorders including schizophrenia (SCZ), major depressive disorder (MDD), and genetic generalized epilepsy. This study estimated the prevalence, correlates, severity and functional impairment of disabilities attributed to neurotic disorders in the Chinese population. Data from a representative national sample of 2,526,145 non-institutionalized residents were obtained from the Second China National Sample Survey on Disabilities (CNSSD) in 2006. The data were analyzed to estimate prevalence, correlates, severity and functional impairment of disability attributable to neurotic disorders by gender, age, region, and other key socio-demographic and economic factors.

Objective: To discover genes and gene sets harboring rare variants associated with short-term antipsychotic medication efficacy.
Design, Setting, And Participants: In this multicenter, open-label, randomized clinical trial conducted between July 6, 2010, and December 31, 2011, 3023 patients recruited in China of Chinese Han descent with schizophrenia with total Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) score ≥ 60 received a 6-week treatment of antipsychotic medications randomly chosen from 5 atypical and 2 typical antipsychotic medications.

Adolescence is a critical period with ongoing maturational processes in stress-sensitive systems. It remains unknown how adolescent individuals would be affected by chronic exposure to corticosterone (the major stress hormone in rodents, CORT) at the doses that are usually not detrimental in adults. In this study, male Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with CORT (5 mg/kg) or vehicle for 21 days during adolescence (postnatal day (PND) 29-49) or adulthood (PND 71-91) and then subjected to behavioral testing or sacrifice for neurobiological analyses.

Multimodal fusion has been regarded as a promising tool to discover covarying patterns of multiple imaging types impaired in brain diseases, such as schizophrenia (SZ). In this article, we aim to investigate the covarying abnormalities underlying SZ in a large Chinese Han population (307 SZs, 298 healthy controls [HCs]). Four types of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features, including regional homogeneity (ReHo) from resting-state functional MRI, gray matter volume (GM) from structural MRI, fractional anisotropy (FA) from diffusion MRI, and functional network connectivity (FNC) resulted from group independent component analysis, were jointly analyzed by a data-driven multivariate fusion method.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCross-sectional and longitudinal studies have identified widespread and progressive grey matter volume (GMV) reductions in schizophrenia, especially in the frontal lobe. In this study, we found a progressive GMV decrease in the rostral medial frontal cortex (rMFC, including the anterior cingulate cortex) in the patient group during a 6-week follow-up of 40 patients with schizophrenia and 31 healthy controls well-matched for age, gender, and education. The higher baseline GMV in the rMFC predicted better improvement in the positive score on the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), and this might be related to the improved reality-monitoring.
