A 50-year-old man was admitted to the hospital with a chief complaint of long-standing cold-induced numbness in the fingers for more than a year, accompanied by persistent hand pain and fingertip ulceration for 3 months. On physical examination, radial and ulnar artery pulsation was absent in both limbs, and pale skin color, low skin temperature, and limited finger range of motion were noted. Gangrene was detected in the fingertips of the left index and middle fingers, and the right middle and ring fingers.

Near-infrared (NIR) light, compared with ultraviolet (UV) light, has a stronger tissue penetration ability and is widely used in the medical field. However, few hydrogels can be triggered by NIR. Here, a modular polymer-nanosheet (metal disulfide) (PNS) hydrogel system was proposed, which can be photo-crosslinked through photothermal conversion under NIR light.

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a serious disorder characterized by the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and cascade activation of macrophages. Ferroptosis, a form of iron-dependent cell death triggered by intracellular phospholipid peroxidation, has been implicated as an internal mechanism underlying ALI. In this study, we investigated the effects of mA demethylase fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) on the inhibition of macrophage ferroptosis in ALI.

Cisplatin (DDP) based combination chemotherapy is a vital method for the treatment of bladder cancer (BLca). Chemoresistance easily occurs in the course of cisplatin chemotherapy, which is one of the important reasons for the unfavorable prognosis of BLca patients. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are widely recognized for their role in the development and advancement of BLca.

Atherosclerosis (AS) is the main pathological basis of cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease. Black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs) are a novel nanomaterial with good optical properties and biocompatibility, which was applied in the treatment of AS in mice, with good results shown in our previous study. In this study, BPQDs were injected into high-fat diet-fed apolipoprotein E knockout mice as a preventive drug for 12 weeks.

Functional roles of SIGLEC15 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were not clear, which was recently found to be an immune inhibitor with similar structure of inhibitory B7 family members. SIGLEC15 expression in HCC was explored in public databases and further examined by PCR analysis. SIGLEC15 and PD-L1 expression patterns were examined in HCC samples through immunohistochemistry.

Cancer immunotherapy harnesses the body's immune system to combat malignancies, building upon an understanding of tumor immunosurveillance and immune evasion mechanisms. This therapeutic approach reactivates anti-tumor immune responses and can be categorized into active, passive, and combined immunization strategies. Active immunotherapy engages the immune system to recognize and attack tumor cells by leveraging host immunity with cytokine supplementation or vaccination.

Background: To compare the efficacy and safety of total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) in the treatment of middle and low locally advanced rectal cancer. Our study will systematically collect and integrate studies to evaluate the ability of these two treatments to improve tumor shrinkage rates, surgical resection rates, tumor-free survival, and severe adverse events.
Aim: To provide clinicians and patients with more reliable treatment options to optimize treatment outcomes and quality of life for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two treatment options.

Background: Alport syndrome (AS) is an inherited nephropathy caused by mutations in the type IV collagen genes. It is clinically characterized by damage to the eyes, ears and kidneys. Diagnosis of AS is hampered by its atypical clinical picture, particularly when the typical features, include persistent hematuria and microscopic changes in the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), are the only clinical manifestations in the patient.

Tumor-stromal interactions and stromal heterogeneity in the tumor microenvironment are critical factors that influence the progression, metastasis, and chemoresistance of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Here, we used spatial transcriptome technology to profile the gene expression landscape of primary PDAC and liver metastatic PDAC after bioactive black phosphorus nanomaterial (bioactive BP) treatment using a murine model of PDAC (; ; and mice). Bioinformatic and biochemical analyses showed that bioactive BP contributes to the tumor-stromal interplay by suppressing cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) activation.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized primarily by cognitive impairment. Recent investigations have highlighted the potential of nutritional interventions that target the gut-brain axis, such as probiotics and prebiotics, in forestalling the onset of AD. In this study, whole-genome sequencing was employed to identify xylan as the optimal carbon source for the tryptophan metabolism regulating probiotic ().

Brain function is vulnerable to the consequences of inadequate sleep, an adverse trend that is increasingly prevalent. The REM sleep phase has been implicated in coordinating various brain structures and is hypothesized to have potential links to brain variability. However, traditional imaging research have encountered challenges in attributing specific brain region activity to REM sleep, remained understudied at the whole-brain connectivity level.
