Artesunate (ATS) is considered the most widely employed artemisnin derivative in the treatment of malaria. However, poor solubility and low bioavailability of ATS limit its further clinical application. Herein, we developed a new strategy based on the exosome (exo) - drug conjugation (EDC) using the milk-derived exosomes for ATS delivery.

An 80-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital due to recurrent lymphedema, ulcers, and lymphorrhea in the right lower limb for 7 years. The physical examination revealed changes after the Charles procedure below the right knee joint plane, with a 7 × 7 cm lymphorrhea area in the lower one-third plane of the anterior tibia area. Continuous lymphatic exudation and scattered ulcers could be seen.

Background: Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS), is a rare autosomal dominant hereditary disease characterized by an elevated risk of various cancers. Serine/Threonine Kinase 11 (STK11) gene is a major tumor suppressor crucial for immune evasion with and beyond tumorigenic cells. It has garnered increasing attention in the realm of oncology treatment, particularly in the context of immunotherapy development.

Previous observational studies have identified a link between obesity, adiposity distribution, type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM), type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), and the risk of pressure ulcers (PUs). However, the definitive causality between obesity and PUs, and potential DM mediators remains unclear. Univariable, multivariable, and mediation Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were conducted to explore the mediating role of T1DM or T2DM in the association between obesity, adiposity distribution, and PUs.

Background: Numerous approaches have been utilized to optimize mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) performance in treating osteoarthritis (OA), however, the constrained diminished activity and chondrogenic differentiation capacity impede their therapeutic efficacy. Previous investigations have successfully shown that pretreatment with nanosecond pulsed electric fields (nsPEFs) significantly enhances the chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs. Therefore, this study aims to explore nsPEFs as a strategy to improve OA therapy by enhancing MSCs' activity and chondrogenic differentiation and also investigate its potential mechanism.

Currently, no therapy is proven to effectively improve heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). Although stem cell therapy has demonstrated promising results in treating ischemic heart disease, the effectiveness of treating HFpEF with human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hucMSCs) remains unclear. To answer this question, we administered hucMSCs intravenously (i.

Salvianolic acid A (SalA), a bioactive compound extracted from Salvia miltiorrhiza, has garnered considerable interest for its potential in ameliorating the post-stroke neuroinflammation. This review delineates the possible molecular underpinnings of anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective roles of SalA, offering a comprehensive analysis of its therapeutic efficacy in preclinical studies of ischemic stroke. We explore the intricate interplay between post-stroke neuroinflammation and the modulatory effects of SalA on pro-inflammatory cytokines, inflammatory signaling pathways, the peripheral immune cell infiltration through blood-brain barrier disruption, and endothelial cell function.

Alveolar bone loss is a main manifestation of periodontitis. Human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) are considered as optimal seed cells for alveolar bone regeneration due to its mesenchymal stem cell like properties. Osteogenic potential is the premise for PDLSCs to repair alveolar bone loss.

The clinical diagnosis of pathogen infectious diseases increasingly requires sensitive and rapid RNA detection technologies. The RNA-guided clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas13a system has shown immense potential in molecular diagnostics due to its trans-cleavage activity. However, most Cas13a-based detection methods require an amplicon transcription step, and the multi-step open-tube operations are prone to contamination, limiting their widespread application.

Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) has emerged as a promising tool for monitoring the spread of COVID-19, as SARS-CoV-2 can be shed in the faeces of infected individuals, even in the absence of symptoms. This study aimed to optimize a prediction model for estimating COVID-19 infection rates based on SARS-CoV-2 RNA concentrations in wastewater, and reveal the infection trends and variant diversification in Shenzhen, China following the lifting of a strict COVID-19 strategy. Faecal samples (n = 4337) from 1204 SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals hospitalized in a designated hospital were analysed to obtain Omicron variant-specific faecal shedding dynamics.
