Microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) is a critical biomarker for immunotherapy, yet primary resistance remains a significant challenge. Current MSI-H detection methods evaluate the proportion of MSI-H loci, termed molecular MSI-H score, which can be affected by intratumoral heterogeneity (ITH). To address this limitation, we propose evaluating MSI-H at the cellular level to improve the prediction of immunotherapy outcomes.

As a rising star among metal oxide nanomaterials, titanium dioxide (TiO) has been widely investigated and employed in optical applications because of its excellent optical properties. In this work, we demonstrate the efficient and broadband nonlinear photonic properties of methylene blue (MB)-loaded reduced TiO (TiO-MB) and explore the performance of a TiO-MB-microfiber photonic device in broadband ultrafast photonics. Within an erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) system, utilizing the TiO-MB-microfiber photonic device as a saturable absorber (SA), steady mode-locked pulses together with chaotic pulses were successfully achieved at the wavelength of 1.

Studies have demonstrated that the tumour microenvironment is hypoxia and that hypoxia can induce hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) expression and mediate tumour chemoresistance, which leads to a very poor prognosis for cancer patients. In this study, an economical and practical HIF-1α inhibitor, plasma-activated medium (PAM), was prepared, and its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) was investigated and . We found that HIF-1α expression significantly increased under hypoxia in CRC cells followed by decreased chemosensitivity to oxaliplatin (OXA).

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) can infect the majority of the human population with no obvious symptoms and is associated with tumor development, although the mechanism is still largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the role and the underlying mechanism of EBV nuclear antigen 2 (EBNA2) in tumorigenesis. We found that the infection of EBNA2 in human B lymphocytes (HBL) upregulated the expression of activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4).

Objective: To explore whether METTL3 was involved in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by modulating the m6A level of USP7.

Methods: We performed qRT-PCR and western blot assays to detect the expression level of METTL3 in HCC tissues and paired adjacent normal tissues, as well as HCC cell lines. The level of m6A in HCC tissues and cells was quantitatively analyzed by m6A RNA Methylation Quantitative Kit.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical performance of chairside monolithic lithium disilicate glass-ceramics computer-aided design(CAD)-computer aided manufacturing(CAM) crowns, and to analyze the influencing factors of cumulative survival rate.

Methods: Two hundred and fourteen patients who had chairside posterior lithium disilicate glass-ceramic CAD-CAM crowns in Peking University Shenzhen Hospital from March 2015 to March 2017 were enrolled. The crown preparations were milled using Cerec Omnicam system.

Guangdong and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Male Reproductive Medicine and Genetics, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Shenzhen 518036, Guangdong, P. R. China.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the function and prognostic value of miR-638 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Methods: Expression of miR-638 in RCC tissues and corresponding noncancerous tissues were examined by reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). To explore the effects of miR-638 on cell migration, invasion, viability, and apoptosis of RCC cells, wound scratch, transwell, MTT, CCK-8, and flow cytometry assays were performed.

Tumor suppressor miR-33b-5p regulates cellular function and acts a prognostic biomarker in RCC.

Am J Transl Res

July 2020

Guangdong and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Male Reproductive Medicine and Genetics, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital Shenzhen 518036, Guangdong, P. R. China.

Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a renal parenchyma neoplasm with a 30% recurrence rate even when treated properly. MicroRNAs are noncoding small RNAs that are involved in cellular communication and may participate in cancer development. This study aimed to explore the relationship between miR-33b-5p expression and RCC progression and prognosis.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a common cancer that accounts for about 1.6% of all malignancies. Accumulating evidence has shown that miRNAs may play important roles in the development of cancers and that these same miRNAs may serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists found that tiny particles called berberine nanoparticles (BBRNPs) can be used to help treat cancer with a method called sonodynamic therapy (SDT).
  • They tested this treatment on HeLa cells (a type of cancer cell) in a lab and also used mice with tumors to see how effective it was.
  • The study showed that the BBRNPs worked by blocking blood supply to the tumor and releasing energy that damages the tumor, which helps make the tumors shrink.

Background: RCC is a malignant tumor that originates from renal tubular epithelial cells, accounting for nearly 90% of renal malignancies and 3% of adult malignancies. It was reported that more than 30-40% of patients with early localized RCC still have recurrence and metastasis after receiving radical surgery. miRNAs are an endogenous non-coding small RNAs that play an important role in the regulation of tumor cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis.
