Biological Effects and Clinical Application of the Anti-Immunoglobulin E Antibody.

Int Arch Allergy Immunol

November 2024

Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Background: Immunoglobulin E (IgE) plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases by engaging with FcεRI and FcεRII receptors, triggering allergic responses. The development of anti-IgE antibodies, such as omalizumab, has introduced a targeted approach to allergy treatment by neutralizing free IgE and dampening the allergic cascade.

Summary: This review synthesizes the current understanding of IgE's role in allergic diseases and evaluates the clinical utility of omalizumab.

A study of the biological effects of low-level light.

Lasers Med Sci

February 2024

Hair Medical Research Center, Department of Dermatology and Venereology, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Capital Medical University, No. 31 of Xinjiekou East Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, 100035, China.

Low-level light therapy (LLLT), also known as photo biomodulation (PBM), is a type of optical therapy that uses red or near-infrared lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for medical treatment. The laser wavelengths involved in PBM typically range between 600-700 nm and 780-1100 nm, with power densities ranging between 5 mW/cm and 5 W/cm. PBM is a series of biochemical cascades exhibited by biological tissues after absorbing a certain amount of energy from light.

Purpose: To evaluate the three symptom indicators of scalp seborrheic dermatitis (SSD), namely scalp flaking, maximum erythema area, and pruritus, to develop a "16-point scale," to explore its relationship with the severity of SSD, and verify the reliability of the 16-point scale.

Method: A dermatologist evaluated patients with SSD using a 16-point scale, and statistically analyzed the collected data with the help of SPSS 26.0 software.

Immunotherapy is a vital treatment for patients with cutaneous melanoma (CM), but effective predictors to guide clinical immunotherapy are lacking. Cuproptosis is a newly discovered mode of cell death related to tumorigenesis. Exploring the relationship between the mode of cuproptosis and the effect of immunotherapy on CM could better guide clinical management.

As the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death worldwide, colorectal cancer (CRC) poses a serious threat to people's health. In recent years, circRNA has been widely reported as a new biomarker in CRC, but a comprehensive summary and analysis is lacking. This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic significance of circRNAs in CRC by systematically analysing their expression patterns, biological functions and clinical significance in CRC.

Clinical significance and immune landscape of KIR2DL4 and the senescence-based signature in cutaneous melanoma.

Cancer Sci

November 2022

The center of Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery, Department of General Surgery, The Third People's Hospital of Chengdu, College of Medicine, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China.

Senescence is an effective barrier to tumor progression. Mutations that inhibit senescence and promote cell division are mandatory for the development of cancer. Therefore, it is particularly important to explore the differences between cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients with severe and mild degrees of senescence.

Landscape and Clinical Significance of Immune Checkpoint in Cutaneous Melanoma.

Front Immunol

February 2022

Department of Dermatology, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, China.

Background: The incidence of cutaneous melanoma (CM) is increasing, and its prognosis is not optimistic. Although immune checkpoint (ICP) inhibitors are effective in the treatment of CM patients, they are not effective for all CM patients. There is an urgent need for a marker to predict both the prognosis and the immunotherapy effect in patients with CM.

Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a heterogeneous blood disease with poor treatment effect and high recurrence rate. With the deepening of non-coding RNA research, more and more miRNAs have been found to participate in various physiological processes of tumors. In this study, we tried to find the miRNA related to the prognosis of AML.

The microRNA miR-124 suppresses seizure activity and regulates CREB1 activity.

Expert Rev Mol Med

March 2016

Department of Neurology,Chongqing Key Laboratory of Neurology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University,1 Youyi Road,Chongqing 400016,China.

miR-124, a brain-specific microRNA, was originally considered as a key regulator in neuronal differentiation and the development of the nervous system. Here we showed that miR-124 expression was suppressed in patients with epilepsy and rats after drug induced-seizures. Intrahippocampal administration of a miR-124 duplex led to alleviated seizure severity and prolonged onset latency in two rat models (pentylenetetrazole- and pilocarpine-induced seizures), while miR-124 inhibitor led to shortened onset latency in pilocarpine-induced seizure rat models.

Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is known to promote neurogenesis and survival. However, recent studies have suggested that IGF-1 regulates neuronal firing and excitatory neurotransmission. In the present study, focusing on temporal lobe epilepsy, we found that IGF-1 levels and IGF-1 receptor activation are increased in human epileptogenic tissues, and pilocarpine- and pentylenetetrazole-treated rat models.
