Early diagnosis and treatment are of great significance for hindering the progression of brain disease. The limited effects of available treatments and poor prognosis are currently the most pressing problems faced by clinicians and their patients. Therefore, developing new diagnosis and treatment programs for brain diseases is urgently needed.

Objective: An oncogenic protein, pituitary tumor transforming gene 1 binding factor (PTTG1IP, also called PBF), has been found to be expressed in various cancers. However, few studies have explored its prognostic significance and biologic function in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).

Methods: Based on the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, this study determined the differential expression of PBF at the mRNA level in EOC and normal tissues, which was then verified using real-time PCR and western blotting.

Background: This study was to explore the clinical efficacy and safety of darbepoetin alfa injection replacing epoetin alfa injection (recombinant human erythropoietin injection, rHuEPO) for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic kidney failure in Chinese patients undergoing hemodialysis.

Method: This study was a multicenter, randomized, open-label, intergroup parallel control phase III noninferiority trial from April 19, 2013 to September 9, 2014 at 25 sites. In this study, the members of the darbepoetin alfa group underwent intravenous administration once per week or once every two weeks.

Background: Erythropoietin is a glycoprotein that mainly regulates erythropoiesis. In patients with chronic renal failure with anemia, darbepoetin alfa can stimulate erythropoiesis, correct anemia, and maintain hemoglobin levels. This study was designed to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of darbepoetin alfa injections as being not inferior to epoetin alfa injections (Recombinant Human Erythropoietin injection, rHuEPO) when maintaining hemoglobin (Hb) levels within the target range (10.

College of Nursing, University of Illinois, Illinois 60607, USA.

Sleep health becomes an important component of global public health. The incidence of sleep disorders is increasing rapidly worldwide, which seriously affects people's quality of life. In China, the lack of professional sleep physicians and technicians, the distribution of sleep centers and the unbalanced development of medical resources have seriously restricted the development of sleep medicine and the improvement of sleep health guarantee level.

Recent studies have shown the involvement of exosomes in intercellular communication during tumor progression. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) can be packaged into exosomes for extracellular communication, however, the possible effects of exosomal circRNAs in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) cells with high metastatic potential have been rarely studied. In this study, we identified exosomal circRNA051239 from high-metastatic ovarian cancer SKOV3.

Identification of lncRNA-NR_104160 as a biomarker and construction of a lncRNA-related ceRNA network for essential hypertension.

Am J Transl Res

October 2020

Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, School of Public Health, Capital Medical University, Beijing Municipal Key Laboratory of Clinical Epidemiology Beijing 100069, People's Republic of China.

Objectives: To identify long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and construct a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network for essential hypertension.

Methods: An RNA microarray and two-step quantitative real-time PCR were applied to identify differentially expressed RNAs (DE-RNAs), and a luciferase assay was performed to explore the binding relationship between RNAs. A generalized linear model and logistic regression model were used to analyze the associations between different RNAs and of RNAs with hypertension.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of dental varnish containing fluoride either with casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate(CPP-ACP) or bioglass on root caries.

Methods: The active roots collected in Peking University People's Hospital from April 2017 to October 2018 were randomly divided into group A, group B, group C, and group D, each with 18 teeth. All groups received toothbrushing containing fluoride, in addition, group B received another 5% sodium fluoride, group C added 5% sodium fluoride + CPP-ACP, and group D added 5% sodium fluoride + bioglass.

Despite advances in surgical techniques, functional recovery following epineurial neurorrhaphy of transected peripheral nerves often remains quite unsatisfactory. Small gap tubulisation is a promising approach that has shown potential to traditional epineurial neurorrhaphy in the treatment of peripheral nerve injury. Thus, the goal of this study is to evaluate sciatic nerve regeneration after nerve transection, followed by small gap tubulization using a reduced graphene oxide-based conductive conduit.

Sodium foscarnet is an antiviral drug against cytomegalovirus retinitis, and clinically it is used frequent intravitreal injection which causes various ocular complications. Here we propose to use benzathine foscarnet in a new salt form with much lower aqueous solubility, and as a potential long-acting intravitreally injectable solid form for foscarnet. Benzathine foscarnet (1 : 1) microcrystals were synthesized and evaluated both and .

Objective: To investigate the feasibility and efficacy of sural nerve grafts for repairing sciatic nerve defects using a chitin biological absorbable tube bridge.

Methods: A sciatic nerve defect model in the rat was produced, and the sural nerve, cut from the ipsilateral leg, was used as a graft to repair the defect using chitin biological absorbable tube bridges. Then the number and morphology of regenerating myelinated fibers, nerve function index, nerve conduction velocity, and motor end plate and triceps surae muscle morphology were evaluated.

To evaluate the pharmacokinetics and bioequivalence of generic dasatinib in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia in the choronie phase (CML-CP). Using randomized, parallel, overlapping, self-control designed study, a 100 mg dose of the reference or test tablet was given to 12 CML-CP patients who were resistant or intolerant to Imatinib and Nilotinib in a randomized two-way crossover design, and the plasma concentration of the medicine was assayed by HPLC-MS-MS. The main pharmacokinetic parameters and bioequivalence of the two formulations were evaluated.

The associations between hyperhomocysteinaemia (HHcy), methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) C677T polymorphism, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) remain controversial, with only few studies focused on these associations within the Chinese population. We performed subgroup and interaction analyses in a Chinese Han population to investigate these associations. In all, 155 AAA patients and 310 control subjects were evaluated for serum total homocysteine levels and MTHFR C677T polymorphisms.

Evidence of a novel gene HERPUD1 in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy.

Int J Clin Exp Pathol

October 2016

Department of Ophthalmology, Peking University People's Hospital; Key Laboratory of Vision Loss and Restoration, Ministry of Education; Beijing Key Laboratory of Diagnosis and Therapy of Retinal and Choroid Diseases Beijing 100044, P. R. China.

Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is an exudative maculopathy, with clinical features distinct from neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) which is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the elderly. Our studies focused on the genetic background and function of a novel gene HERPUD1 in PCV. HERPUD1 has been reported to increase the level of amyloid β (Aβ), which is a component of drusen deposits underlying the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) layer.
