Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a prevalent complication among critically ill patients, constituting around 10% of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions and mortality rates ranging from 35 to 46%. However, ARDS is frequently underdiagnosed or delayed, and its heterogeneity diminishes the clinical utility of ARDS biomarkers.

Mindfulness-based interventions for improvement of lifestyle behaviors and body mass index in children with overweight or obesity: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Unlabelled: This study aimed to synthesize evidence from primary studies on the acceptability and effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) for improving lifestyle behaviors and body mass index (BMI) in children with overweight or obesity. We conducted a meta-analysis or followed the Synthesis Without Meta-analysis (SWiM) guidelines to synthesize study findings. The analysis included both mindfulness-only interventions and comprehensive behavioral interventions incorporating mindfulness components.

Oncogenic role of RARG rearrangements in acute myeloid leukemia resembling acute promyelocytic leukemia.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) featuring retinoic acid receptor-gamma (RARG) rearrangements exhibits morphological features resembling those of acute promyelocytic leukemia but is associated with drug resistance and poor clinical outcomes. However, the mechanisms underlying the role of RARG fusions in leukemogenesis remain elusive. Here, we show that RARG fusions disrupt myeloid differentiation and promote proliferation and self-renewal of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) by upregulating BCL2 and ATF3.

Early detection of lung function impairment is crucial. However, the sensitivity of spirometry in detecting early lung function deterioration is limited. In this study, lungs of 3180 healthy participants scheduled for annual health check were screened.

The study employed network Meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicines combined with recombinant human interferon α-2b(interferon) in the treatment of cervical human papillomavirus(HPV) infections. The relevant randomized controlled trial(RCT) published from inception to May 8, 2024 were retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMbase, and Web of Science. The modified Jadad scale and the Cochrane risk of bias tool were used to evaluate the quality of the included studies, and RevMan 5.

Primary Care Physicians' Responses to Treatment Burden in People With Type 2 Diabetes: A Qualitative Video Analysis in China.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the approaches general practitioners (GPs) use to respond to the treatment burden faced by people with type 2 diabetes.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 29 videos of GP-patient consultations in an academic general practice clinic in China. Thematic analysis and a framework matrix approach were used to identify patterns in GPs' responses to the identified issues.

Prevalence of congenital heart defects in people with Down syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: The prevalence of congenital heart defects (CHD) in Down syndrome (DS) varies considerably across studies (from 16% to 84%). This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of CHD in people with DS (CHD-DS).

Methods: PubMed, Web of Science and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases were searched through to 5 January 2023.

Retinal vascular fingerprints predict incident stroke: findings from the UK Biobank cohort study.

Objective: To investigate the associations between a comprehensive set of retinal vascular parameters and incident stroke to unveil new associations and explore its predictive power for stroke risk.

Methods: Retinal vascular parameters were extracted from the UK Biobank fundus images using the Retina-based Microvascular Health Assessment System. We used Cox regression analysis, adjusted for traditional risk factors, to examine the associations, with false discovery rate adjustment for multiple comparisons.

Application of machine learning algorithms in predicting new onset hypertension: a study based on the China Health and Nutrition Survey.

Background: Hypertension is a serious chronic disease that can significantly lead to various cardiovascular diseases, affecting vital organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys. Our goal is to predict the risk of new onset hypertension using machine learning algorithms and identify the characteristics of patients with new onset hypertension.

Methods: We analyzed data from the 2011 China Health and Nutrition Survey cohort of individuals who were not hypertensive at baseline and had follow-up results available for prediction by 2015.

Clinical features and prognostic nomogram for therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML), which develops after cytotoxic therapy, has a poorer prognosis. Although allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is a potential cure, its efficacy varies among patients. In this retrospective study, we analyzed 154 patients with t-AML who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) at our institution to determine their clinical characteristics and develop a prognostic nomogram.

AMPK: an energy sensor for Non-small cell lung cancer progression and treatment.

Lung cancer (LC) is the leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality in China, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for 85% of the overall lung cancer cases. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a key regulator of energy balance and homeostasis, and its dysregulation is a common feature in various malignancies, particularly in NSCLC with mutations in Liver kinase B1 (LKB1). Studies have shown that the AMPK signalling pathway has a dual role in NSCLC progression, both inhibiting and promoting the progression of malignant tumours.

Background: HIV/AIDS remains a significant global challenge, and with the rapid advancement of technology, there has been an increasing number of interventions aimed at improving HIV/AIDS cognition and self-management behaviors among patients. However, there is still a lack of detailed literature integrating relevant evidence.

Objective: This study aims to comprehensively review existing research on interventions using modern information methods to improve HIV/AIDS cognition and enhance self-management behaviors among patients.

Background: Platelet recovery was an important prognostic indicator in severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). This study focused on risk factors affecting platelet recovery in surviving SFTS patients, which can assist clinicians in the early screening of patients associated with a greater risk of mortality.

Objectives: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is recommended as the first-line treatment for insomnia disorders, yet its clinical application rate ranges from 1% to 29%. This study evaluated medical doctors' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the use of CBT-I in treatingpatients with insomnia.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from May 8 to 26, 2021.

Analysis of Dynamic Mandibular Movement of Patients With Condylar Hyperplasia Treated With Orthognathic Surgery and Condylectomy.

Objective: To assess the dynamic mandibular movement of patients with condylar hyperplasia before and after simultaneous orthognathic surgery and condylectomy through an intraoral approach.

Methods: Two groups of patients diagnosed with unilateral condylar hyperplasia were studied: the preoperative group consisted of 23 patients and the postoperative group consisted of 13 patients who had undergone simultaneous orthognathic surgery and condylectomy through an intraoral approach with follow-up for more than 1 year. The normal reference value was obtained from 11 individuals without oral and maxillofacial diseases.

The oral microbiota: new insight into intracranial aneurysms.

Background: Intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are a significant clinical concern, with detection rates increasing due to advances in imaging technologies. However, precise mechanisms underlying their pathophysiology remain incompletely understood. Recent evidence suggests a pivotal role of oral microbiota dysbiosis, particularly periodontal pathogens, in systemic inflammation that may contribute to IA development and rupture.

Background: We previously described the enrichment of plasma exosome metabolites in CRPC, PCa, and TFC cohorts, and found significant differences in pyrimidine metabolites. The PMGs is associated with the clinical prognosis of several cancers, but its biological role in PCa is still unclear.

Methods: This study extracted 98 reliable PMGs, and analyzed their somatic mutations, expression levels, and prognostic significance.
