Background: This study aimed to investigate the roles and mechanisms of tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF)/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in treating liver fibrosis.
Methods: The effects of TAF/TDF on carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced liver fibrosis in C57BL/6 wild-type or nonstructural protein 5A transactivated protein 9 (NS5ATP9) knockout mice were studied. The differentiation, activation, and proliferation of LX-2 cells after TAF/TDF treatment were tested in vitro.
The effect of hepatitis C virus p7 trans-regulated protein 3 (P7TP3) in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the role and mechanism of P7TP3 in HCC. P7TP3 was significantly decreased in HCC tissues when compared with corresponding liver tissues immediately around the tumor (LAT) from seven HCC patients.

Hepatic fibrosis is a reversible pathological process in which the liver cells has been subjected to long periods of various acute and chronic injuries leading to the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), imbalance of extracellular matrix synthesis, degradation, and deposition. Among them, the activation of hepatic stellate cells is the key link for the occurrence of hepatic fibrosis, so intervention of HSCs activation and proliferation is expected to reverse the progression of liver fibrosis. Thus, this paper summarizes the signaling pathways involved in the liver fibrosis progression, with hepatic stellate cells as the center, to provide new ideas for the study of anti-fibrosis.

Collagen β (1‑O) galactosyltransferase 1 (GLT25D1) has been reported to transfer galactose to hydroxylysine residues via β (1‑O) linkages in collagen. The present study investigated the function of the collagen galactosyltransferase activity of GLT25D1 against carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)‑induced acute liver injury in vitro. Glt25d1+/‑ mice and wild‑type (WT) mice were injected intraperitoneally with the same dose of CCl4.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are crucial for control of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) virus infection. In this study, we evaluated the frequencies of pDCs and expression of functional molecules on pDCs in patients treated with PEG-IFN-α-2a or entecavir (ETV) and investigated changes during treatment. The mean fluorescence intensity of CD86 (CD86MFI) on the surface of pDCs and frequencies of pDCs and CD86 pDCs in peripheral blood were measured.

The present study was conducted to characterize the C6orf120 gene, by using C6orf120 gene-deleted rats (C6orf120), to determine its role in the development and severity of autoimmune hepatitis induced by concanavalin A (Con A), as well as the underlying mechanisms. We found that following Con A injection, C6orf120 rats were less susceptible to developing autoimmune hepatitis with low levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) post challenge. Additionally, C6orf120 deficiency increased the frequency of cluster of differentiation (CD)4 CD25 Forkhead box P3 regulatory T cells (Tregs) among intrahepatic lymphocytes, splenocytes, peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and CD4 T in vitro.

Sterol regulatory element-binding protein-1c (SREBP1c) plays an important role in triglyceride (TG) homeostasis. Although our previous study showed that hepatitis C virus core-binding protein 6 (HCBP6) regulates SREBP1c expression to maintain intracellular TG homeostasis, the mechanism underlying this regulation is unclear. In the present study, we found that HCBP6 increased intracellular TG levels by upregulating SREBP1c expression.
