Purpose: The systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) has been reported to have prognostic ability in various solid tumors but has not been studied in gallbladder cancer (GBC). We aimed to determine its prognostic value in GBC.

Materials And Methods: From 2003 to 2017, patients with confirmed GBC were recruited.

The existing models for antitumor drug screening have great limitations. Many compounds that inhibit 2D cultured cells do not exhibit the same pharmacological effects , thereby wasting human and material resources as well as time during drug development. Therefore, developing new models is critical.

Three-dimensional bioprinted hepatorganoids prolong survival of mice with liver failure.

Objective: Shortage of organ donors, a critical challenge for treatment of end-stage organ failure, has motivated the development of alternative strategies to generate organs in vitro. Here, we aim to describe the hepatorganoids, which is a liver tissue model generated by three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting of HepaRG cells and investigate its liver functions in vitro and in vivo.

Design: 3D bioprinted hepatorganoids (3DP-HOs) were constructed using HepaRG cells and bioink, according to specific 3D printing procedures.

Phosphoproteomics Reveals Key Regulatory Kinases and Modulated Pathways Associated with Ovarian Cancer Tumors.

Background: Ovarian cancer (OC) is the seventh most common cancer worldwide for women. However, there are no sufficient diagnostic methods and few treatment options available due to poor understanding of its pathogenic mechanisms.

Methods: To comprehensively analyze the phosphoproteomic characterization for OC, we took advantage of a quantitative global phosphoproteomics method, titanium(IV) immobilized metal affinity chromatography (Ti-IMAC) coupled to nanoscale liquid chromatography and quadrupole time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometry (nanoLC/Q-TOF-MS/MS) on ovarian tissue samples obtained from five OC patients and five matched controls.

Albumin binding function is a novel biomarker for early liver damage and disease progression in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Purpose: Indicators to assess early liver damage and disease progression in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) remain unsatisfactory. Albumin binding function has been reported to be an early indicator of liver damage in hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. However, its role in NAFLD patients is unknown.

Background: Caudate lobectomy via laparoscopic surgery has rarely been described. This multicenter, propensity score-matched study was performed to assess the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic caudate lobectomy (LCL).

Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was performed including all patients who underwent LCL and open caudate lobectomy (OCL) in four institutions from January 2013 to December 2018.

Intense 68Ga-Pentixafor Activity in Aldosterone-Producing Adrenal Adenomas.

Ga-pentixafor, a ligand of CXCR4 (CXC chemokine receptor type 4), has been reported as a potential PET tracer to evaluate a variety of pathological entities. We report intense Ga-pentixafor activity on PET/CT in 2 patients in the histopathologically confirmed adrenal adenomas, which were the cause of their Conn syndrome.

Air in the biliary duct as an indicator of Type V Mirizzi syndrome: a case report.

Mirizzi syndrome, known as extrinsic bile compression syndrome (EBCS), is difficult to diagnose without surgery. To the best of our knowledge, our case shows that air in the biliary duct may indicate Type V Mirizzi syndrome. A 48-year-old Chinese male, complaining of anorexia with weight loss and jaundice, showed decreased bilirubin for two months after being diagnosed with gallbladder stones.

Portal pressure monitoring-state-of-the-art and future perspective.

Portal hypertension is a serious symptom of chronic liver diseases, which can lead to many critical complications, such as the formation of varices related to upper digestive bleeding, ascites, infection, hepatic encephalopathy, renal failure, and even death. As a result, portal pressure monitoring has important prognostic and clinical implications. The hepatic venous pressure gradient measurement, a gold-standard method applied to monitor portal pressure, is invasive and only available in experienced centers.

Magnesium and liver disease.

Magnesium is a vital cation that takes part in many cellular processes. Magnesium balance can be disturbed in multiple conditions, and differences in magnesium concentration can be responsible for numerous physiological and pathological processes. Magnesium deficiency is commonly associated with liver diseases, and may result from low nutrient uptake, greater urinary secretion, low serum albumin concentration, or hormone inactivation.

Background: Circulating extracelluar vesicles (EVs) in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients emanate from multiple cells. These EVs are emerging as a new type of biomarker as they can be obtained by non-invasive approaches. The aim of this study was to investigate circulating EVs from EOC patients and healthy women to evaluate their biological function and potential as diagnostic biomarkers.

Impaired albumin function: a novel potential indicator for liver function damage?

Albumin is the most abundant plasma protein and albumin infusion is commonly used. Conventionally, the biologic and therapeutic effects of albumin have been thought to be due to its oncotic properties. However, albumin has a variety of biologic functions, including molecular transport, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, endothelial stabilisation, anti-thrombotic effects, and the adjustment of capillary permeability.

99mTc-Labeled Native RBC Scintigraphy in Distinguishing Polysplenia From Abdominal Masses in a Patient With Situs Inversus Totalis.

A 39-year-old previously healthy woman presented possible hematuria. An ultrasound examination showed right adrenal mass and suggested pheochromocytoma. A Tc-HYNIC-TOC SPECT/CT was performed, which incidentally detected situs inversus totalis and suspicion of polysplenia without definite normal spleen in the right upper abdomen.

Identification of Radioactive Iodine Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer.

Most differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) patients have an excellent prognosis. However, about one-third of DTC patients with recurrent or metastatic disease lose the hallmark of specific iodine uptake initially or gradually and acquire radioactive iodine-refractory DTC (RAIR-DTC) with poor prognosis. Due to the potentially severe complications from unnecessarily repeated RAI therapy and encouraging progress of multiple targeted drugs for advanced RAIR-DTC patients, it has become crucial to identify RAIR-DTC early.

In this paper, we performed a bibliometric analysis, aiming to determine the most influential studies within the field.

Fruits and vegetables consumption and the risk of gallstone diasease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: The role of fruit and vegetables (FVs) consumption in decreasing gallstone disease risk remains contradictory. We performed a meta-analysis to analyze this potential correlation, followed by investigation of dose-response relationship of FVs consumption with gallstone disease.

Materials And Methods: PubMed, Embase, as well as Web of Science were searched to determine all published researches about the connection of FVs consumption with gallstone disease before March 2018.

Evaluation of Lung Cancer and Neuroendocrine Neoplasm in a Single Scan by Targeting Both Somatostatin Receptor and Integrin αvβ3.

Purpose: This pilot study aimed to prove the complementary value of a novel Gallium-labeled heterodimeric peptide, Ga-NOTA-3P-TATE-RGD, in detection and evaluation of tumors with somatostatin receptor subtype 2 or integrin αvβ3 overexpression, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), neuroendocrine tumor (NET), and neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC).

Methods: With institute review board approval and written informed consent, 32 patients with pathologically diagnosed lung cancer (18 NSCLC, 14 SCLC) and 12 patients with neuroendocrine neoplasm (8 NET, 4 NEC) patients were recruited to undergo Ga-NOTA-3P-TATE-RGD PET/CT. For comparison, the NSCLC patients also underwent Ga-NOTA-TATE PET/CT, the SCLC patients underwent Ga-NOTA-RGD PET/CT, and the neuroendocrine neoplasm patients underwent F-FDG PET/CT within 3 days.

Ga-NOTA-Aca-BBN(7-14) PET imaging of GRPR in children with optic pathway glioma.

Purpose: Optic pathway glioma (OPG) is a rare neoplasm that arises predominantly during childhood. Its location in a sensitive region involving the optic pathways, onset in young patients and controversial therapy choice make the management of OPG a challenge in paediatric neuro-oncology. In this study we assessed gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR)-targeted positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in children with OPG, and the application of a PET/MRI imaging-guided surgery navigation platform.
