Electronic address:

Background: Although several studies have compared the efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) without immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and TACE with ICIs, there is still a lack of meta-analysis.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library were searched until July 2023 for studies comparing the efficacy and safety of TACE without ICIs (TACE ± molecular targeted therapies [MTTs]) and TACE without ICIs (TACE ± MTTs + ICIs). Outcomes included overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and adverse events (AEs).

Prone positioning is a therapeutic strategy for severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). In COVID-19-associated ARDS (CARDS), the application of prone position has shown varying responses, influenced by factors such as lung recruitability and SARS-CoV-2-induced pulmonary endothelial dysfunction. This study aimed to compare the early impact of pronation on lung ventilation-perfusion matching (VQmatch) in CARDS and non-COVID-19 ARDS patients (non-CARDS).

State Key Laboratory of Bioactive Substances and Function of Natural Medicine, Beijing Key Laboratory of Active Substances Discovery and Drugability Evaluation, Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, 100050, PR China. Electronic address:

In situ activation of prodrugs or photosensitizers is a promising strategy for specifically killing tumor cells while avoiding toxic side effects. Herein, we originally develop a bioorthogonally activatable prodrug and pro-photosensitizer system to synchronously yield an aggregation-induced emission (AIE) photosensitizer and a chemotherapeutic drug for synergistic chemo-photodynamic-immunotherapy of tumors. By employing molecular engineering strategy, we rationally design a family of tetrazine-functionalized tetraphenylene-based photosensitizers, one of which (named TzPS5) exhibits a high turn-on ratio, a NIR emission, a typical AIE character, and an excellent ROS generation efficiency upon bioorthogonal-activation.

Radioactive prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeting agents are clinically useful for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with PSMA-positive metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Neuroendocrine-differentiated prostate cancer (NEPC), a highly aggressive subtype that is strongly associated with a poor clinical prognosis, may present with reduced PSMA expression and evade detection with PSMA-targeted agents. Several studies have shown elevated uptake of somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) ligands in PSMA-negative NEPC.

Introduction: Preoperative patients with knee osteoarthritis have a significantly increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). While the Caprini risk assessment model offers some clinical guidance in predicting deep vein thrombosis (DVT), it has a relatively low predictive accuracy. Enhancing the model by integrating biomarkers, such as D-dimers, can potentially improve its accuracy.

Vitamin D receptor regulates methyltransferase like 14 to mitigate colitis-associated colorectal cancer.

J Genet Genomics

January 2025

Department of Gastroenterology, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, Beijing 100730, China. Electronic address:

Colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC), a serious complication of ulcerative colitis (UC), is associated with a poor prognosis. The vitamin D receptor (VDR) is recognized for its protective role in UC and CAC through the maintenance of intestinal barrier integrity and the regulation of inflammation. This study demonstrates a significant reduction in mA-related genes, particularly methyltransferase like 14 (METTL14), in UC and CAC patients and identifies an association between METTL14 and VDR.
