Background: Tumor metastasis is one of the main causes of death in cancer patients; however, the mechanism controlling metastasis is unclear. The posttranscriptional regulation of metastasis-related genes mediated by AT-rich interactive domain-containing protein 4A (Arid4a), an RNA-binding protein (RBP), has not been elucidated.

Methods: Bioinformatic analysis, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, and immunoblotting were employed to determine the expression of Arid4a in breast tumor tissues and its association with the survival of cancer patients.

Visual acuities as measured with an automatic intelligent visual acuity chart projector and standard logarithmic visual acuity chart: a prospective comparative study.

Purpose: This study aimed to test the repeatability of visual acuity (VA) measurement using an novel intelligent projector visual acuity (IP) chart (LSJ-IVAC-6000A, Hunan Liangshi Jia Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) and the consistency of VA measurement between the IP chart and the 5 m standard logarithmic visual acuity (SL) chart (GB11533-2011).

3D bioprinted piezoelectric hydrogel synergized with LIPUS to promote bone regeneration.

Bone defects resulting from trauma, tumor resection, non-union of fractures, and infections present enormous challenges in treatment. Although three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting plays an important role in repairing bone tissues, the lack of mechanical properties and osteoinductive ability of the bioinks remains a barrier for the application of the technology. In this study, we used advanced 3D bioprinting technology to create a novel piezoelectric hydrogel scaffold (Gel/PBT@BMSCs) which consisted of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs), gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA), and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified barium titanate (BT) nanoparticles.

Biochemical remission, diagnostic delays, and comorbidities of acromegaly in China: a large single-centre retrospective study.

Introduction: Long-term biochemical nonremission and long-delayed diagnosis can increase the incidence of comorbidities of acromegaly and seriously affect patients' quality of life. To identify predictors of biochemical remission and quantify the relationship between delayed diagnosis and comorbidities, we performed a retrospective study of a large, single-centre cohort.

Methods: This retrospective cohort included 1692 hospitalised patients with acromegaly seen in a single referral centre between 2012 and 2020.

Introduction: This study aimed to explore changes in the venous return system in patients with Constrictive pericarditis (CP) after pericardial stripping and examine their value in predicting mortality.

Methods: An 8-year single-center retrospective cohort study including patients with CP after pericardial stripping surgery. Hemodynamic parameters were analyzed in 90 patients at 11 time points including before and after surgery and every 4 to 9 hours in the first 48 hours in the ICU (pre-operation, post-operation, 0h, t1, t2, t3, 24h, t4, t5, t6, 48h).

Aldosterone-to-Renin Ratio Changes in Patients With Renal Artery Stenosis and Aldosteronism.

We conducted a retrospective cohort study to investigate changes in the aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) and other influencing factors in patients with renal artery stenosis (RAS) and primary aldosteronism (PA). Patients with RAS and PA admitted to our hospital between January 2016 and December 2021 were retrospectively selected. Based on the standardized PA screening results, the patients were divided into aldosterone-to-renin ratio-positive and -negative groups.

Cystic fibrosis-causing variants in Chinese patients with congenital absence of the vas deferens: a cohort and meta-analysis.

Individuals with congenital absence of the vas deferens (CAVD) may transmit cystic fibrosis (CF)-causing variants of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene to their offspring through assisted reproductive technology (ART). We aimed to delineate the spectrum and estimate the prevalence of CF-causing variants in Chinese individuals with CAVD through a cohort analysis and meta-analysis. CFTR was sequenced in 145 Chinese individuals with CAVD.

Eosinophil-induced adverse events (Eo-irAEs) have been observed in patients treated with programmed cell death 1/ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) inhibitors. Surprisingly, the clinical features and outcomes of Eo-irAEs induced by PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors have not yet been elucidated. This study investigated the characteristics of and risk factors for Eo-irAEs induced by PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors.

Intense Uptake of 68Ga-exendin-4 in a Patient With WHO Grade 3 Insulinoma and Extensive Intrahepatic Metastases.

A 24-year-old woman with hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia was found with a pancreatic mass and multiple intrahepatic lesions in CT and MRI. 68Ga-exendin-4 PET/CT showed intense radioactivity in the pancreatic mass and all the intrahepatic lesions, suggesting a malignant insulinoma with multiple intrahepatic metastases. Subsequent fine needle biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of WHO grade 3 insulinoma.

Background: The 1550 nm and 1565 nm non-ablative fractional lasers (NAFL) have recently been introduced as treatments for periorbital photoaging. This prospective, randomized split-face trial aimed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of these NAFL treatments in addressing periorbital photoaging in Asian patients across various age groups.

Methods: Eighteen patients completed the study, with nine under 45 (Group A) and nine aged 45 or older (Group B).

Objectives: Auditory deprivation results in functional enhancement of the remaining intact visual modality, and the underlying mechanisms include cross-modal recruitment of additional resources from the auditory cortex and compensatory reorganization of the visual network in bilateral deafness. However, how resources are allocated between hearing and vision has not been determined in patients with partial auditory deprivation. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between functional plasticity of the visual and auditory pathways in patients with congenital single-sided deafness (SSD), a typical partial deprivation condition.

Background And Purpose: Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P)/S1P receptor signalling exerts cardioprotective effects. However, the effect of the selective S1P receptor agonist SEW2871 on myocyte necroptosis in heart failure and the underlying mechanisms are unknown. In the present study, we tested the hypothesis that SEW2871 attenuates myocyte necroptosis in heart failure through inhibition of oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines.

However, no study has explored their causal associations.

Background: Auricular fistulas, typically excised due to infection risk, consist of intact skin and soft tissue when uninfected. A large fistula cavity with sufficient tissue coverage over cartilage and no infection during stable periods may be viable for reuse. This article explores using non-infected fistulas as soft tissue sources for microtia reconstruction.

NEK2 inhibition reverses vascular remodeling in pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease.

Objective: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a serious consequence of congenital heart disease (CHD). NK-large granular lymphocytic leukemia (NK-LGLL) is a rare chronic lymphoproliferative disorder and displays heterogeneity that remains insufficiently defined. CD56 plays a pivotal role in NK-cell maturation linked to cytotoxicity. However, whether CD56 might be associated with distinctive characteristics in NK-LGLL has not been determined.

Patterns and outcomes of early and late recurrence after hepatectomy for hepatocellular carcinoma with microvascular invasion: a multicenter study in China.

Background: A few studies focus on the long-term outcomes and surveillance strategies for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and microvascular invasion (MVI) who experience postoperative recurrence. The aim of this study was to explore the patterns and prognosis of early and late recurrence (ER and LR) after hepatectomy of such patients.

Methods: Consecutive patients with HCC and MVI after hepatectomy from 26 centers in China from 2009 to 2020 were included.

The COMMODORE study demonstrated the efficacy and safety of gilteritinib versus salvage chemotherapy (SC) treatment in a predominantly Asian population with relapsed/refractory (R/R) FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3)-mutated() acute myeloid leukemia (AML); here we present an exploratory analysis of the study stratified by region (China, South-East Asia and Russia). COMMODORE was a Phase 3, open-label, randomized (1:1), multicenter trial. There were 151, 50, and 33 patients in the China, South-East Asia, and Russia cohorts, respectively.
