Usefulness of indocyanine green in the laparoscopic Palomo technique: a comparative study.

Objective: To find out whether the use of indocyanine green for lymphatic sparing in the laparoscopic Palomo technique reduces the incidence of postoperative hydrocele.

Materials And Methods: A comparative cohort study of varicocele patients treated with the laparoscopic Palomo technique from 2008 to 2023 was carried out. Patients were divided into two groups according to whether fluorescence lymphography (intratesticular indocyanine green) had been performed or not.

Spanish primary care in pediatric trauma (AITP) consensus: An AITP checklist.

Introduction: The course in Primary Care in Pediatric Trauma (ATIP in Spanish) has been taught in Spain since 1997, and there are currently 9 accredited training centers. Care of polytraumatized pediatric patients often takes place in an environment conducive to errors resulting from forgetfulness, which is why checklists - mnemonic tools widely used in industry and medicine - are particularly useful to avoid such errors. Although several checklists exist for pediatric trauma care, none have been developed within the setting of our course.

Impact of digestive-surgical cross-disciplinary management in patients with esophageal atresia.

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze whether patients undergoing esophageal atresia (EA) surgery benefit from a cross-disciplinary follow-up program, based on current clinical guidelines, implemented in our institution.

Materials And Methods: An observational, analytical, retrospective study of patients undergoing EA surgery from 2012 to 2022 was carried out. The results of a joint pediatric surgery and gastroenterology consultation program -which was implemented in 2018 and applies a protocol based on the new ESPGHAN-NASPGHAN guidelines- were analyzed.

Conservative treatment of suprahepatic pseudoaneurysm in a pediatric patient.

Introduction: Suprahepatic and inferior vena cava (IVC) pseudoaneurysms are rare in children. Most cases in adults are treated surgically due to the high risk of rupture.

Endourological treatment of ectopic ureterocele. Our experience in the last 15 years.

Objective: To assess the efficacy of the endourological treatment of ectopic ureterocele in children in a large series and with a long-term follow-up.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective, descriptive study of patients with ectopic ureterocele who had undergone surgery in our institution in the last 15 years was carried out. All patients were treated using an endourological approach, both for ureterocele and postoperative vesicoureteral reflux (VUR).

Spiritual support for adolescent cancer patients: a survey of pediatric oncology centers in Italy and Spain.

Introduction: Spirituality is a fundamental aspect of the psychological well-being of adolescents with cancer. This study reports on a survey conducted at pediatric oncology centers in Italy and Spain to examine the situation concerning the provision of spiritual support.

Methods: An ad hoc questionnaire was distributed including multiple-choice questions on whether or not spiritual support was available; the spiritual counselor's role; how often the spiritual counselor visited the unit; and the type of training this person had received.
