Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD), a developmental abnormality of the heart and vessels, is encountered in the pediatric age group frequently. Brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) are indicators of subclinical cardiovascular disease and are used as surrogate measures of subclinical atherosclerosis. The present study aimed to compare CIMT and FMD between children with acyanotic congenital heart disease (ACHD) and healthy controls.

Background: The authors aim to investigate the clinical implications of stent use for the management of CoA.
Methods: All observational studies on stent implantation for the treatment of aortic coarctation and the relevant RCTs were systematically retrieved. Outcomes included the immediate success rate, pre- and post-stent gradient, survival, minor and major complications, restenosis, post-stent systolic blood pressure, and reintervention rate.

Background And Aims: The contribution of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) to daily energy intake and, therefore, their health effects may vary between countries. We aimed to investigate the association between UPFs and the incidence risk of cardiovascular events (CVEs) and cardiovascular mortality in the Isfahan cohort study.
Methods And Results: In 2001, 6504 participants aged ≥35 years were enrolled and followed until 2017.

Background: The nursing process is a systematic method for identifying the patient's problems and planning to resolve them. It is also a crucial pillar of high-quality nursing care. Nursing internship students may lack the necessary skills to implement the nursing process due to the increased independence, the absence of constant professorial supervision, and limited experience.

Cardiovascular involvement in Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), a potential consequence of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19), is common. Conventional transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) provides primary data on the function of the left and right ventricles, while Speckle Tracking Echocardiography (STE) is more sensitive. This study aims to assess longitudinal cardiac function using STE in these patients.

Background: There is limited evidence regarding the evaluation of the association between the triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, an indicator of insulin resistance, and the incident risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Therefore, we aimed to examine the relationship between the TyG index and CVD incidence in a cohort of Iranian adults.
Methods: This study was performed in the framework of the Isfahan Cohort Study (ICS).

Background: The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is a new and low-cost marker to determine insulin resistant which may be a predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Although available evidence showed that its association with CVD mortality (CVM) and all-cause mortality (ACM) may differ in different populations, scarce data are available in this regard specially in low and middle-income countries.
Purpose: To examine the association between TyG index and risk of CVM and ACM in Iranians.

Background: Face masks have become an important tool for preventing the spread of respiratory diseases. However, we hypothesized that face masks with reduced nasal airflow may alter pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP).
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of face masks on PASP in children and adolescents.

Objective: The objectives of this study were: (1) to describe burden of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and trends from 1990 to 2019 using the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors Study (GBD) data, (2) to describe age and sex differences in RA and (3) to compare Canada's RA burden to that of other countries.
Methods: Disease burden indicators included prevalence, mortality, years of life lost (YLLs), years lived with disability (YLDs) and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs). GBD estimated fatal and non-fatal outcomes using published literature, survey data and health insurance claims.

Objective: The objective of this retrospective review was to evaluate whether or not pulsatile flow improves cerebral hemodynamics and clinical outcomes in pediatric congenital cardiac surgery patients.
Methods: This retrospective study included 284 pediatric patients undergoing congenital cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass support utilizing nonpulsatile (n = 152) or pulsatile (n = 132) flow. Intraoperative cerebral gaseous microemboli counts, pulsatility index, and mean blood flow velocity at the right middle cerebral artery were assessed using transcranial Doppler ultrasound.

Backgroud: Because of the important role of adhering to treatment to reduce major adverse cardiovascular events and mortality, studying the factors affecting treatment adherence (TA) is warranted. This study aimed to identify the impact of psychosomatic factors on adhering to treatment among patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Materials And Methods: This is a cohort study as a part of the Isfahan ST-segment-elevated Myocardial Infarction Cohort Study.

Purpose: Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are a group of rare genetic diseases and heart involvement is one of the important conflicts in most types, which may cause serious complications. We used M-Mode and two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) to explore cardiovascular involvements in MPS patients.
Method: The present cross-sectional study investigated the frequency of cardiac involvements in MPS patients.

Preterm infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) frequently encounter systemic hypertension, yet the underlying cause remains elusive. Given the absence of prior investigations concerning the correlation between systemic hypertension and aortic thickness, we undertook this study to assess and juxtapose diverse vascular indices amidst preterm neonates with BPD, preterm neonates lacking BPD, and healthy neonates, utilizing abdominal aorta ultrasonography. This cross-sectional study encompassed 20 preterm neonates, 20 preterm neonates with BPD, and 20 healthy neonates, meticulously matched for sex and postnatal age.

It has been estimated that in the next decade, IHD prevalence, DALYs and deaths will increase more significantly in EMR than in any other region of the world. This study aims to provide a comprehensive description of the trends in the burden of ischemic heart disease (IHD) across the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) from 1990 to 2019. Data on IHD prevalence, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), mortality, DALYs attributable to risk factors, healthcare access and quality index (HAQ), and universal health coverage (UHC) were extracted from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database for EMR countries.

Background: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), defined by thrombotic events or obstetric complications in the presence of persistently high antiphospholipid antibodies, is characterized by a wide variety of clinical presentations and the effects of vascular occlusion can impact almost any organ system or tissue. Since adult-onset APS classification criteria are not well verified in pediatrics (where pregnancy-related problems are rare), estimating childhood prevalence is challenging. Stroke and pulmonary embolism are thromboembolic events occurring in children that can cause considerable long-term morbidity.

Aims: This study was designed to explore the relationship between cardiovascular disease incidence and population clusters, which were established based on daily food intake.
Methods: The current study examined 5,396 Iranian adults (2,627 males and 2,769 females) aged 35 years and older, who participated in a 10-year longitudinal population-based study that began in 2001. The frequency of food group consumption over the preceding year (daily, weekly, or monthly) was assessed using a 49-item qualitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) administered a face-to-face interview conducted by an expert dietitian.

To investigate the longitudinal association of different phenotypes of diabetes and obesity with the incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD), CVD- and all-cause mortality. A total of 5432 adults, aged ≥ 35 years and free of CVD were included in this cohort study. Diabesity phenotypes were defined in six categories based on the presence of diabetes (normal (NG), prediabetes and diabetes) and obesity (obese, non-obese).
