Unlabelled: Children obesity is a serious public health problem drawing much attention around the world. Recent research indicated that gut microbiota plays a vital role in children obesity, and disturbed gut microbiota is a prominent characteristic of obese children. Diet and exercise are efficient intervention for weight loss in obesity children, however, how the gut microbiota is modulated which remains largely unknown.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of fast-track surgery combined with a clinical nursing pathway on the recovery and complications of congenital pseudarthrosis of tibia.
Methods: 82 children with congenital pseudarthrosis of tibia admitted from January 2019 to December 2020 were selected as the study subjects. The control group received routine clinical nursing pathway while the intervention group received a fast-track surgery combined with a clinical nursing pathway.

Objectives: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of open reduction through anterior minimally invasive approach in the treatment of children with developmental dysplasia of the hip.
Method: A total of 23 patients (25 hips) less than 2 years with developmental dysplasia of the hip treated by open reduction through anterior minimally invasive approach were treated in our hospital from August 2016 to March 2019. Through the anterior minimally invasive approach, we enter from the gap between sartorius muscle and tensor fasciae lata without cutting off rectus femoris muscle, which can effectively expose the joint capsule and reduce the damage to medial blood vessels and nerves.

Background: The traditional pixel value ratio (tPVR) is subject to disuse osteopenia of the adjacent bone in distraction osteogenesis (DO). Therefore, a modified PVR (mPVR) based on the contralateral normal bone was developed and validated to address this issue.
Methods: A total of 79 bone lengthening subjects were recruited in this retrospective study.

Purpose: To evaluate the outcomes of distal femoral, proximal tibial, and distal tibial physeal bar resection combined with or without the Hemi-Epiphysiodesis procedure and provide a better understanding of the application of physeal bar resection combined with Hemi-Epiphysiodesis procedure in the treatment of physeal bar growth arrest.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the patients who suffered physeal bar and underwent physeal bar resection with or without the Hemi-Epiphysiodesis technique during 2010-2020. All were followed up for at least 2 years or to maturity.

Delayed fracture union and nonunion are common complications of fracture encountered, while Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) can stimulate bone regeneration. Still, the underlying mechanism of LIPUS on bone regeneration has been poorly understood, which resulted in varied outcomes in the clinic. Therefore, figuring out the mechanism of LIPUS on bone regeneration can lay the foundation for better use of LIPUS in clinical bone regenerative therapies.

Distraction osteogenesis (DO) is an approach for bone lengthening and reconstruction. The pixel value ratio (PVR), an indicator calculated from X-ray images, is reported to assess the final timing for the external fixator removal. However, the early PVR and its potential influencing factors and the relationship between the early PVR and clinical outcomes are rarely discussed.

Objective: There has been a lack of suitable epiphysis blocking materials due to the characteristics of less tissue coverage and narrow epiphysis in children's distal tibial medial malleolus. Therefore, this study is to investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of a new "U"-shaped staple in the treatment of postoperative ankle valgus of congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT).
Method: According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 33 patients with postoperative ankle valgus of CPT were treated with new "U"-shaped staples from May 2013 to September 2019.

Background: Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) is a complex and serious disease in orthopaedics which often requires multiple operations for treatment. Postoperative ankle valgus deformity is easily seen after the operation of CPT. The aim of this study is to retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of three different implants for treating postoperative ankle valgus after CPT.

The emergence, in recent decades, of an entirely new area of "Mitochondrial dynamics", which consists principally of fission and fusion, reflects the recognition that mitochondria play a significant role in human tumorigenesis and response to therapeutics. Proteins that determine mitochondrial dynamics are referred to as "shaping proteins". Marked heterogeneity has been observed in the response of tumor cells to chemotherapy, which is associated with imbalances in mitochondrial dynamics and function leading to adaptive and acquired resistance to chemotherapeutic agents.

Background: The current surgical treatment of choice is the combination surgical technique, involving tibial intramedullary fixation to maintain the mechanical axis and mechanical stability of tibial pseudarthrosis. In traditional combined surgery, the Williams rod is often used. Long-term intramedullary fixation of the foot and ankle will affect the ankle joint function of children.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS), a novel gaseous signaling molecule, is a vital physiological signal in mammals. HS protects the cardiovascular system via modulation of vasodilation, vascular remodeling, and inhibition of vascular calcification, and also has anti-atherosclerosis properties. Autophagy is a lysosomal-mediated intracellular degradation mechanism for excessive or abnormal proteins and lipids.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide. Previous studies have shown that inflammatory chemokines are involved in the physiological functions of cytoskeletal reorganization, cell migration, adhesion and immune responses. However, in the past decade, there have been studies showing that inflammatory chemokines play a key role in CVD.

It has been reported that bupivacaine, the most widely used local anesthetic to relieve discogenic back pain in clinical settings, is cytotoxic to intervertebral disc (IVD) cells in vitro; however, the precise mechanisms of cytotoxicity induced by bupivacaine remain unclear. Autophagy is an intracellular lysosomal degradation process that is important for cellular survival. The present study investigated the role of autophagy in the survival of IVD cells subjected to bupivacaine treatment.

Rationale: Spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma (SSDH) without an underlying pathology is a very rare condition. The treatment protocol for SSDH is early diagnosis and treatment before irreversible damage to neural tissue. However, there is no agreement on the etiopathogenesis, as well as the need for surgery to treat spontaneous SSDH.

Back pain is a common clinical symptom. Degeneration of intervertebral discs is one of the most important factors leading to back pain, namely, discogenic back pain. However, at present, the understanding of lumbar intervertebral discs causing back pain is confined to biomechanical and histological studies.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between postoperative complications and fibular integrity in congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) in children.
Methods: A retrospective study was performed in 59 patients with Crawford type IV CPT who were treated with combined surgical technique from 2007 to 2011. The patients were divided into two groups, the CPT with fibular pseudarthrosis (group A) and CPT with intact fibula groups (group B), on the basis of fibula status after the union of CPT.

Cardiovascular disease is a growing major global public health problem. Oxidative stress is regarded as one of the key regulators of pathological physiology, which eventually leads to cardiovascular disease. However, mechanisms by which FGF-2 rescues cells from oxidative stress damage in cardiovascular disease is not fully elucidated.
