A hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection can progress to chronic hepatitis, leading to liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. CX3CL1/Fractalkine plays a crucial role in recruiting immune cells that are responsible for protecting against HBV infection. The aim of this study was to measure CX3CL1/Fractalkine concentrations in the blood plasma of individuals infected with HBV and to evaluate the role of this chemokine in the development of liver tissue fibrosis.

Landouzy-Dejerine myopathy (Facial-shoulder-shoulder myodystrophy) is a disease which causes weakness of the muscles of the shoulder girdle, back and hip muscles, which predisposes patients to an increased risk of injury and disability. The article presents a clinical observation of non-ischemic priapism, which developed as a result of perineal trauma with the formation of a fistula of the right cavernous body in a patient against the background of facial shoulder-shoulder myodystrophy. Methods for the differential diagnosis of this condition are also discussed.

This study is a successor of our previous work concerning changes in the chemokine profile in infection that are associated with different SARS-CoV-2 genetic variants. The goal of our study was to take into account both the virus and the host immune system by assessing concentrations of cytokines in patients infected with different SARS-CoV-2 variants (ancestral Wuhan strain, Alpha, Delta and Omicron). Antitumor therapy, including adoptive immunotherapy, inevitably faces powerful counteraction from advanced cancer. If hematological malignancies are currently amenable to therapy with CAR-T lymphocytes (T-cells modified by the chimeric antigen receptor), solid tumors, unfortunately, show a significantly higher degree of resistance to this type of therapy. As recent studies show, the leading role in the escape of solid tumors from the cytotoxic activity of immune cells belongs to the tumor microenvironment (TME).

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is multifactorial disease, which is characterized by airflow limitation and can be provoked by genetic factors, including carriage of the PiZ allele of the protease inhibitor (Pi) gene, encoding alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT). Both homozygous and heterozygous PiZ allele carriers can develop COPD. It was found recently that normal A1AT regulates cytokine levels, including IL-17, which is involved in COPD progression.

The purpose of the work on normotensive rats of different age groups (3, 15 and 22 months) to study the synchronism between the functioning of the cardiovascular system and the locomotor activity of animals in the «open field» test by a single injection of exogenous melatonin in different doses (1 and 10 mg/kg). Studies have revealed the unidirectional dose-dependent effect of exogenous melatonin on the locomotor activity of rats of different ages and the age-dependent effect of melatonin on the parameters of the cardiovascular system. It shows the possibility desynchronization of the circadian rhythms of locomotor activity and the functioning of the cardiovascular system with aging, which can lead to a discrepancy between hemodynamic parameters and the level of locomotor activity.
