The main objective of the study was to assess the occurrence of non-aids-related comorbidities typical of aging in people living with HIV diagnosis 20 years ago or more and under treatment with antiretroviral drugs for a long time. The associations between the same age group in people living with HIV with reported ART use 20 + years and people living with HIV with reported ART use between two and five years in relation to the risk of comorbidities studied, there was a predominance of metabolic alterations in the 50-60 and 60 + age groups (p < 0.003).

Fifteen physically active subjects were submitted to incremental running test on a treadmill and two random HIIE (10 × 1 min at maximal aerobic speed with 1 min of passive recovery) in the following conditions: sodium nitrate (SN) or Placebo (PL). Repeated measure ANOVA was used to compare C, and C within the 10 efforts.

The resistance of pest insects to biopesticides based on the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is normally associated with changes to the receptors involved in the mechanism of action of the pesticidal proteins produced by Bt. In some strains of Plutella xylostella (the diamondback moth) resistance has evolved through a signalling mechanism in which the genes encoding the receptor proteins are downregulated whereas in others it has been linked to structural changes in the receptors themselves. One such well characterized mutation is in the ABCC2 gene indicating that changes to this protein can result in resistance.

Urban activities pollute aquatic ecosystems, and the integrity of organisms such as fish. The use of cytological techniques, such as the analysis of blood cellular integrity using the Micronucleus test, can help detect mutagenic damage as a result to urban effluents exposure. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the frequency of micronucleus and other nuclear abnormalities in Oreochromis niloticus fish environmentally exposed to urban effluents in relation to their erythrocyte recovery capacity when exposed to clean water (30 and 45 days).

Copper(II) complexes have become a potential alternative to the use of platinum drugs in cancer therapy due to their multi-target mode of action. In this context, we report the syntheses of new mononuclear and dinuclear coordination compounds of this element, 1 and 2, derived from the ligand 5-methylsalicylaldehyde 2-furoyl hydrazone (H2L). All three compounds were structurally and spectroscopically characterized, both in the solid state and in solution.

The use of ChatGPT as a tool for writing and knowledge integration raises concerns about the potential for its use to replace critical thinking and academic writing skills. While ChatGPT can assist in generating text and suggesting appropriate language, it should not replace the human responsibility for creating innovative knowledge through experiential learning. The accuracy and quality of information provided by ChatGPT also require caution, as previous studies have reported inaccuracies in references used by chatbots.

Doxorubicin is associated with cardiotoxicity, and physical exercise seeks to minimize the toxic effects of doxorubicin through physiological cardiac remodeling, as well as the reduction of oxidative stress, evidenced by previous studies. This study aimed to analyze whether running training before treatment with doxorubicin influences tolerance to physical exertion and cardiotoxicity. Thirty-nine male Wistar rats, aged 90 days and weighing between 250 and 300 g, were divided into 4 groups: Control (C), Doxorubicin (D), Trained (T), and Trained + Doxorubicin (TD).

In this study, a lichen-like structure was obtained through the production of a unique biomass, formed by algae cells of adhering to the mycelium of filamentous fungal This structure was composed in two steps; in the first one, microalgal cells and spores were incubated separately, and in the second one, after 72 h of growth, isolated, mature mycelium was harvested and added to cell culture. For spores' incubation, a culture medium containing only 2 g·L of glucose and minerals was used. This culture medium, with low sugar content, provided a fungal biomass to the anchorage of microalgae cells.

Free-living birds play an important role as bioindicators in natural environments. In this study, we used the micronucleus test and nuclear erythrocyte abnormalities to investigate the difference in the genotoxic damage frequency between animals in agricultural areas (soybean planting) in relation to the conserved area. It was also discussed the bird's eating habits, which are important for ecotoxicological analysis.

Bioinsecticides based on Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) Berliner, 1915 are widely used to control lepidopteran in several crops. However, surviving insects exposed to the sub-lethal concentration of Bt-based bioinsecticides can suffer a multitude of effects on the biological conditioning known as hormesis. Here, we aimed to provide a clearer understanding of the biological conditioning of Anticarsia gemmatalis (Hübner, 1818), exposed to different concentrations of a Bt-based bioinsecticide, by assessing life table parameters over three generations.
