Cancer is a devastating disease worldwide with high mortality rates and is a foremost concern for society. Immunotherapy has emerged as a promising strategy for treating cancer, harnessing the power of immune system to recognize and kill tumor cells. Bacterial ghosts (BGs), a novel platform in cancer vaccination, are suitable for personalized and effective immunotherapeutic interventions.

Background: There are a myriad of ways patient partners can enact their roles on research teams. International guidelines emphasize the need for a collaborative approach to determining these roles to try to improve research impact and positive patient partner experience. The aims of this review were to: (1) describe how patient partners' roles as co-researchers in health research are determined; and (2) identify factors that influence how these decisions are made.

Introduction: As health systems strive to screen for and address social determinants of health (SDOH), the role of access to childcare and barriers to healthcare posed by childcare needs remains underexplored. A gap exists in synthesizing existing evidence on the role of access to childcare as a SDOH.
Methods: This scoping review aimed to examine and analyze existing literature on the role of childcare needs as a social determinant of access to healthcare.

Background: Racial and ethnic disparities have been reported for HCC prognosis, although few studies fully account for clinically important factors and social determinants of health, including neighborhood socioeconomic status.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicenter cohort study of patients newly diagnosed with HCC from January 2010 through August 2018 at 4 large health systems in the United States. We used multivariable logistic regression and cause-specific Cox proportional hazard models to identify factors associated with early-stage HCC presentation and overall survival.

Tuberculosis is one of the deadliest infectious diseases and continues to be a major health risk in many parts of the world. Even today, the century-old Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine is the only formulation on the market and is ineffective for several sections of the global population responsible for transmission. In the search for antigens that can mount a robust immune response, we have reported the recombinant expression and purification of two novel membrane proteins, the Cation transporter protein V (CtpV) and the Mycobacterial copper transporter B (MctB) present on the membrane surface of .

Objectives: Accumulating basic science data, early clinical findings and various feasibility considerations have provided rationales for administering ketamine as a proposed rescue medication for midazolam-resistant status epilepticus (SE) in the logistically challenging prehospital environment. This report details the multiyear experience of paramedics managing midazolam-resistant SE following the introduction of a ketamine-rescue protocol.
Design: A 7-year, population-based, observational study was conducted to evaluate outcomes of patients treated with IV, intraosseous, intramuscular, or intranasal ketamine for SE despite sufficient midazolam dosings.

Background: Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols have existed for the past three decades; these protocols may improve patient outcomes and healthcare costs. Yet, ERAS is difficult to implement, and there has been limited focus on processes used to promote ERAS use. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify and describe the barriers and enablers to implementing ERAS.

Background: Given the low levels of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine coverage in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA), despite high levels of natural severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) exposures, strategies for extending the breadth and longevity of naturally acquired immunity are warranted. Designing such strategies will require a good understanding of naturally acquired immunity.
Methods: We measured whole-spike immunoglobulin G (IgG) and spike-receptor binding domain (RBD) total immunoglobulins (Igs) on 585 plasma samples collected longitudinally over five successive time points within six months of COVID-19 diagnosis in 309 COVID-19 patients.

Introduction: cervical cancer is a significant health challenge in Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa, with high mortality linked to late presentation and low awareness. Despite its prevalence, preventive interventions like human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination face low utilization. Religious leaders play a pivotal role in influencing health decisions, yet their attitudes toward HPV vaccination remain understudied.

Background: This study investigated the cost-effectiveness of using fenofibrate to treat type 2 diabetes in Australia. The financial burden of type 2 diabetes mellitus is estimated to surpass AUD10 billion, mainly due to the cost of diabetic complications from diabetic neuropathy. Clinical evidence from the Fenofibrate Intervention and Event Lowering in Diabetes (FIELD) study demonstrated that fenofibrate can reduce the risk of amputation and other diabetes-related complications.

Objectives: Despite widespread efforts to reduce emergency department (ED) visits, patients newly diagnosed with cancer often use the ED for commonly anticipated acute care needs. Existing delivery innovations to reduce ED use are underused, and reasons for this are not understood. Patients who recently visited the ED may provide insights into these patterns of care.

Background & Aims: Despite a high prevalence of risk factors associated with hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection among safety-net populations, data evaluating HDV testing and prevalence are limited. We aim to evaluate HDV testing practices and HDV prevalence among an ethnically diverse, multi-center cohort of safety-net patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB).
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 13,218 patients with CHB (54.
