Background: During isotretinoin treatment, special attention is required to detect any symptom or change in the mental health of patients. The monitoring is complex for adolescents because of confounding factors such as mood changes associated with adolescence and puberty and the higher psychosocial impairment due to the acne itself.

Aim: To determine the utility of the Adolescent Depression Rating Scale (ADRS) for monitoring symptoms in adolescents before and during isotretinoin treatment in dermatology real-life practice.

Anti-programmed death ligand 1 immunotherapies in cancer patients with pre-existing systemic sclerosis: A postmarketed phase IV safety assessment study.

Objectives: Cancer patients with pre-existing autoimmune disease, such as systemic sclerosis (SSc), are excluded from clinical trials, so the data on tolerability and efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors in these patients are limited. This study investigated the tolerability and efficacy of anti-programmed death ligand 1 (PD (L)1) immunotherapies in patients with pre-existing SSc.

Methods: Scleronco-01 was a multicentre, nationwide, open-label, phase IV observational study, from 2019 to 2021.

Evaluation of urinary 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine level in experimental Alzheimer's disease: Impact of carvacrol nanoparticles.

The present study aimed to compare the effect of carvacrol essential oil and carvacrol nanoemulsion against experimental Alzheimer's (AD). Forty male albino rats were used and divided into four groups as follow: control, AlCl induced AD, carvacrol oil treated and carvacrol nanoemulsion treated groups. Brain nor-epinephrine, serotonin and dopamine were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Survey on Clinical Practice of Primary Prophylaxis in Portal Hypertension in Children.

Primary prophylaxis in portal hypertension in children is controversial, because there are few studies documenting its efficacy on the risk of bleeding. Twenty-eight centres out of the 38 we contacted returned a completed questionnaire about their clinical practices. More than 75% of the centres use endoscopy to screen patients diagnosed with portal cavernoma, biliary atresia, cystic fibrosis, and other fibrotic chronic liver diseases with suspected portal hypertension.

Therapeutic strategies focused on restoring immune tolerance remain the main avenue to prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). Because estrogens potentiate FoxP3+ regulatory T cells (Treg) and invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells, two regulatory lymphocyte populations that are functionally deficient in nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice, we investigated whether estradiol (E2) therapy influences the course of T1D in this model. To this end, female NOD mice were sc implanted with E2- or placebo-delivering pellets to explore the course of spontaneous and cyclophosphamide-induced diabetes.

The Short French Internet Addiction Test Adapted to Online Sexual Activities: Validation and Links With Online Sexual Preferences and Addiction Symptoms.

The goal of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of a French version of the short Internet Addiction Test adapted to online sexual activities (s-IAT-sex). The French version of the s-IAT-sex was administered to a sample of 401 men. The participants also completed a questionnaire that screened for sexual addiction (PATHOS).

A multifaceted intervention designed to improve medical management of moderate to advanced chronic kidney disease in HIV-infected patients: a cluster randomized trial.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is frequent in individuals infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Progression to end-stage renal disease can be slowed by appropriate medical management.

Methods: To assess whether active promotion of guidelines improves CKD management, we conducted a cluster randomized controlled trial within the French Hospital Database on HIV (FHDH-ANRS CO4).

Purpose: The bulbospongiosus muscle is part of the superficial muscular layer of the perineum and pelvic floor. Its morphology remains controversial in the literature. Therefore, we reinvestigated the fascial arrangement and fiber courses of the bulbospongiosus muscle and its topographical relation to the external anal sphincter.

Nano-Assemblies of Modified Cyclodextrins and Their Complexes with Guest Molecules: Incorporation in Nanostructured Membranes and Amphiphile Nanoarchitectonics Design.

A variety of cyclodextrin-based molecular structures, with substitutions of either primary or secondary faces of the natural oligosaccharide macrocycles of α-, β-, or γ-cyclodextrins, have been designed towards innovative applications of self-assembled cyclodextrin nanomaterials. Amphiphilic cyclodextrins have been obtained by chemical or enzymatic modifications of their macrocycles using phospholipidyl, peptidolipidyl, cholesteryl, and oligo(ethylene oxide) anchors as well as variable numbers of grafted hydrophobic hydrocarbon or fluorinated chains. These novel compounds may self-assemble in an aqueous medium into different types of supramolecular nanoassemblies (vesicles, micelles, nanorods, nanospheres, and other kinds of nanoparticles and liquid crystalline structures).

Inherited CARD9 deficiency in 2 unrelated patients with invasive Exophiala infection.

Background: Exophiala species are mostly responsible for skin infections. Invasive Exophiala dermatitidis disease is a rare and frequently fatal infection, with 42 cases reported. About half of these cases had no known risk factors.

High finesse pulsed optical cavity locking by tilt-locking technique.

We report the Tilt-Locking (TL) technique applied to lock a laser in pulsed regime to a 28,000 high finesse Fabry-Perot cavity. Preliminary experimental results show that TL technique is comparable with the well-known Pound-Drever-Hall technique. This study is the first to implement the TL technique to lock a pulsed laser to a high-finesse optical cavity.

MicroRNA-195-5p is a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target for breast cancer.

Determinants of infant formula use and relation with growth in the first 4 months.

The wide variety of infant formula available on the market can be confusing for parents and physicians. We aimed to determine associations between predominant type of formula used from birth to 4 months and parental and child characteristics and type of physician consulted, and then to describe relations between type of formula used and growth. Our analyses included 1349 infants from the EDEN mother-child cohort.

Internal anal sphincter parasympathetic-nitrergic and sympathetic-adrenergic innervation: a 3-dimensional morphological and functional analysis.

Background: Little detailed information is available concerning morphological and functional autonomic nerve supply to the internal anal sphincter. However, denervation of the sphincter potentially affects anal function after rectal surgery for cancer.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the location and type (nitrergic, adrenergic, and cholinergic) of nerve fibers in the internal anal sphincter and to provide a 3-dimensional representation of their structural relationship in the human fetus.

Rosiglitazone and metformin have opposite effects on intestinal absorption of oligopeptides via the proton-dependent PepT1 transporter.

The intestinal H(+)/peptide cotransporter 1 (PepT1) plays a major role in nitrogen supply to the body by mediating intestinal absorption of di- and tripeptides. Previous studies have reported that in animal models of type 2 diabetes/obesity, PepT1 activity and expression were markedly reduced. This prompted us to investigate the effects of two antidiabetic drugs, rosiglitazone and metformin, on PepT1 activity/expression in a murine diet-induced obesity model.

Preservation of genital innervation in women during total mesorectal excision: which anterior plane?

Background: Erectile dysfunction, principally related to injury of the autonomic nerve fibers in men, is a major cause of postoperative morbidity after anterolateral dissection during total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal adenocarcinoma. However, the autonomic innervation of erectile bodies is less known in women, and the anterolateral plane of dissection during TME remains unclear. The existence of the rectovaginal septum(RVS) is controversial.

¹³¹I-labeled lipiodol-induced interstitial pneumonia: a series of 15 cases.

Background: The drug (131)I-labeled lipiodol is used as internal radiotherapy for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. Although the drug was considered safe during preapproval studies, we observed several cases of interstitial pneumonia following its administration.

Methods: Cases were retrospectively identified through the drug safety unit database of Rennes University Hospital.
