Effectiveness and safety of biosimilars in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases: an observational longitudinal study on the French National Health Data System.

Background: Data on biosimilar use in pediatric inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are scarce compared to the status of studies in adults, resulting in limitations in its treatment. We compared effectiveness and safety of biosimilars versus originators in this population.

Methods: We used data from the French National Health Data System to identify children (less than 18 years old at treatment initiation) initiating treatment with a biosimilar or the originator infliximab or adalimumab for Crohn's disease (CD) or ulcerative colitis (UC), from first biosimilar launch (January 2015 and October 2018, respectively) to 31 December 2022.

Biliary diffusion and antifungal activity of caspofungin and fluconazole in liver transplant recipients: A pilot study.

Invasive candidiasis, including intra-abdominal candidiasis (IAC), is a common complication after liver transplantation. Antifungal drugs such as echinocandins and fluconazole (FCZ) are frequently used to prevent or treat such fungal infections. The diffusion of these antifungals within abdominal body sites has been rarely reported, in particular, in liver transplant recipients.

Prognosis Associated with Complete Pathological Response Following Neoadjuvant Treatment for PancreaTic AdenOcarciNOma in the FOFLIRINOX Era: the Multicenter TONO Study.

Background: The use of multiagent FOLFIRINOX chemotherapy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma in a neoadjuvant setting has been associated with an increased rate of complete pathological response (CPR) after surgery. This study investigated the long-term outcomes of patients with CPR in a multicenter setting to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined biopsy-proven pancreatic adenocarcinomas with CPR after neoadjuvant chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy and surgery, between January 2006 and December 2023 across 22 French and  2 Belgian centers.

Subtrochanteric shortening osteotomy in adult sickle cell disease patients with cemented total hip arthroplasty for hip deformities secondary to childhood osteonecrosis: is healing a challenge?

Purpose: Hip deformity is frequent after childhood osteonecrosis in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD). When they are adults, they present a challenge as candidates for total hip arthroplasty (THA) because of abnormal bone development, their relative youth, and also because of their disease. Performing subtrochanteric osteotomy associated with THA is technically challenging, and healing of osteotomies has never been reported in this population with frequent osteonecrotic bone, whether using cemented or uncemented arthroplasties.

The design of a new visible-light methacrylated-based kraft lignin photosensitizer (MAcL) of iodonium salt (Iod) for the free-radical polymerization (FRP) of polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate (PEGDMA) under LEDs@405, 455, 470, 505, and 530 nm is reported. Meta-analytic results have revealed a significant influence of stress on a wide array of psychological and behavioral markers, underscoring its considerable clinical importance. Providing a simple and cost-effective tool assessing stress for the Arabic-speaking population would be immensely beneficial. Therefore, our research objective was to examine the psychometric properties of an Arabic version of the Stress Numerical Rating Scale-11 (Arabic SNRS-11), including its reliability, and construct validity.

Effects of cardiologic magnetic and optical stimulation on quality of life in patients receiving systemic treatment for cancer: a pilot study.

Background: Oncological systemic treatments such as cytotoxic chemotherapy, radiation therapy or treatment with biological response modifiers can alter the quality of life (QoL) of cancer patients.The aim of this study is to assess the effects of cardiologic magnetic and optical stimulation (CMOS) on QoL in patients with advanced cancer receiving systemic treatment. For this purpose, we designed a non-invasive device that can reproduce and dynamically modulate stimulations of the same nature as the biological electromagnetic emissions specific to the body (cardiac).

Drug Survival and Safety of Biosimilars Compared with Originator Adalimumab for Psoriasis: A Multinational Cohort Study.

Background: The lack of evidence under routine clinical settings limited the widespread adoption of adalimumab biosimilars for psoriasis treatment.

Objective: This study compared the drug survival and safety of adalimumab biosimilars to Humira for psoriasis treatment.

Methods: We conducted a prevalent new-user cohort study using data from the French National Health Data System (SNDS), the British Association of Dermatologists Biologics and Immunomodulators Register (BADBIR), and the Spanish Registry of Systemic Therapy in Psoriasis (BIOBADADERM).

Clinical outcomes in patients in any phase of CML treated with ponatinib in France-Data from the TOPASE observational study.

The TOPASE study was set up to evaluate the outcomes of chronic myeloid leukaemia [CML] patients treated with ponatinib (PON) in a real-world setting in France. One hundred and twenty CML patients, 105 in chronic phase (CP), 8 in accelerated phase (AP) and 7 in blastic phase (BP) were included. Fifty-one (49%) of the CP-CML patients were in third line of treatment.

Prolonged use of chlormadinone acetate and risk of intracranial meningioma: A population-based cohort study.

Background And Purpose: Chlormadinone acetate (CMA) is a synthetic progestin for which cases of intracranial meningioma have been reported following prolonged exposure.

Method: An observational cohort study was conducted based on the French national health data system. Women aged 10-70 years and who started CMA between 2007 and 2017 were included.

Mitochondria at the crossroad of dysregulated inflammatory and metabolic processes in bipolar disorders.

In last few decades, considerable evidence has emphasized the significant involvement of mitochondria, often referred to as the "powerhouse of the cell," in the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder (BD). Given crucial mitochondrial functions in cellular metabolism and inflammation, both of which are compromised in BD, this perspective review examines the central role of mitochondria in inflammation and metabolism within the context of this disorder. We first describe the significance of mitochondria in metabolism before presenting the dysregulated inflammatory and metabolic processes.

Deep learning enabled label-free microfluidic droplet classification for single cell functional assays.

Droplet-based microfluidics techniques coupled to microscopy allow for the characterization of cells at the single-cell scale. However, such techniques generate substantial amounts of data and microscopy images that must be analyzed. Droplets on these images usually need to be classified depending on the number of cells they contain.

Diagnostic performance and relationships of structural parameters and strain components for the diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis with MRI.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance and relationships of cardiac MRI structural parameters and strain components in patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA) and to estimate the capabilities of these variables to discriminate between CA and non-amyloid cardiac hypertrophy (NACH).

Materials And Methods: Seventy patients with CA (56 men; mean age, 76 ± 10 [standard deviation] years) and 32 patients (19 men; mean age, 63 ± 10 [standard deviation] years) with NACH underwent cardiac MRI. Feature tracking (FT) global longitudinal strain (GLS), radial strain (GRS), circumferential strain (GCS), strain AB ratio (apical strain divided by basal strain), myocardial T1, myocardial T2 and extracellular volume (ECV) were calculated.
