Background: Although the advent of new therapeutics for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) patients has considerably lessened the impact of the disease and reduced its sequelae, the outcomes of JIA remain important in their lives. Disease repercussions and side effects of treatments may affect sexual health and cause psychological distress. This aim of the study was to determine the expectations of adolescent JIA patients and the perceptions of their parents regarding knowledge and communication with healthcare providers (HCPs) in the field of sexual health (SH).

Aims: The risk factors for abnormal spinopelvic mobility (SPM), defined as an anterior rotation of the spinopelvic tilt (∆SPT) ≥ 20° in a flexed-seated position, have been described. The implication of pelvic incidence (PI) is unclear, and the concept of lumbar lordosis (LL) based on anatomical limits may be erroneous. The distribution of LL, including a unusual shape in patients with a high lordosis, a low pelvic incidence, and an anteverted pelvis seems more relevant.

Background And Importance: Ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block (FNB) could be used as part of a multimodal preoperative pain management for patients with hip fracture. Evidence of the effects of its early implementation in the emergency room as an immediate alternative to intravenous morphine titration is sparse.
Objective: To investigate the effect of an early ultrasound-guided FNB performed by emergency physicians on preoperative opioid consumption, compared to standard pain management.

Background: The effect on obstetrical outcomes of closed- or open-glottis pushing is uncertain among both nulliparous and parous women.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the association between open- or closed-glottis pushing and mode of delivery after an attempted singleton vaginal birth at or near term.
Study Design: This was an ancillary planned cohort study of the TRAAP (TRAnexamic Acid for Preventing postpartum hemorrhage after vaginal delivery) randomized controlled trial, conducted in 15 French maternity units from 2015 to 2016 that enrolled women with an attempted singleton vaginal delivery after 35 weeks' gestation.

Background: Several cancer immunotherapies that target the PD-L1/PD-1 pathway show promising clinical activity in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the standard of care in first-line treatment with atezolizumab (anti-PD-L1 therapy) in combination with bevacizumab is associated with a limited objective response rate. Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) activation meets the criteria of oncogenic addiction in HCC and could be actionable therapeutic target and a relevant tumor antigen.

Purpose: To compare the oncological and perioperative outcomes of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RPN) and percutaneous thermal ablation (PTA) for treatment of T1 renal cell cancer (RCC) in patients older than 75 years.
Materials And Methods: Retrospective national multicenter study included all patients older than 75 years treated for a T1 RCC by RPN or PTA between January 2010 and January 2021. Patients' characteristics, tumor data, and perioperative and oncological outcomes were compared.

Autophagy is a highly conserved and natural degradation process that helps maintain cell homeostasis through the elimination of old, worn, and defective cellular components, ensuring proper cell energy intake. The degradative pathway constitutes a protective barrier against diverse human diseases including cancer. Autophagy basal level has been reported to be completely dysregulated during the entire oncogenic process.

Over the last years, there has been a considerable expansion of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for discovering biological pathways underlying pathological conditions or disease biomarkers. These GWAS are often limited to binary or quantitative traits analyzed through linear or logistic models, respectively. In some situations, the distribution of the outcome may require more complex modeling, such as when the outcome exhibits a semicontinuous distribution characterized by an excess of zero values followed by a non-negative and right-skewed distribution.

Background: Literature focusing on migration and maternal health inequalities is inconclusive, possibly because of the heterogeneous definitions and settings studied. We aimed to synthesize the literature comparing the risks of severe maternal outcomes in high-income countries between migrant and native-born women, overall and by host country and region of birth.
Methods And Findings: Systematic literature review and meta-analysis using the Medline/PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for the period from January 1, 1990 to April 18, 2023.

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common, multi-causal disease with potentially serious short- and long-term complications. In clinical practice, there is a need for improved plasma biomarker-based tools for VTE diagnosis and risk prediction. Here we show, using proteomics profiling to screen plasma from patients with suspected acute VTE, and several case-control studies for VTE, how Complement Factor H Related 5 protein (CFHR5), a regulator of the alternative pathway of complement activation, is a VTE-associated plasma biomarker.

Purpose: There is an increasing interest in the role of sex and gender in cancer patients. The impact of sex differences in oncological systemic therapies is still unknown, and there is a lack of evidence specially in uncommon neoplasms like neuroendocrine tumours (NET). In the present study, we combine the differential toxicities by sex in five published clinical trials with multikinase inhibitors (MKI) in gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) NET.

Introduction: Despite the increasing importance of digital resources in modern life over the past decades, little is known about the impact of internet-based solutions on patient's health. We aimed to study the potential benefit of a digital platform helping patients to deal with abnormal chest CT scan revealing possible lung cancer.
Methods: We set up a fast-track lung cancer diagnosis pathway through a secure online platform.

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers worldwide and pathologists are closely involved in establishing a diagnosis. Tools to assist in making a diagnosis are required to manage the increasing workload. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) and deep-learning based tools may be used in daily pathology practice.

Background: Since the latest 2017 French guidelines, knowledge about idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis has evolved considerably.
Methods: Practical guidelines were drafted on the initiative of the Coordinating Reference Center for Rare Pulmonary Diseases, led by the French Language Pulmonology Society (SPLF), by a coordinating group, a writing group, and a review group, with the involvement of the entire OrphaLung network, pulmonologists practicing in various settings, radiologists, pathologists, a general practitioner, a health manager, and a patient association. The method followed the "Clinical Practice Guidelines" process of the French National Authority for Health (HAS), including an online vote using a Likert scale.

Background: For emergency physicians (EPs), acute vertigo is a challenging complaint and learning a reliable clinical approach is needed. STANDING is a four-step bedside algorithm that requires (1) identifying spontaneous nystagmus with Frenzel glasses or, alternatively, a positional nystagmus; (2) characterizing the nystagmus direction; (3) assessing the vestibuloocular reflex (head impulse test); and (4) assessing the gait. The objective was to determine its accuracy for diagnosing central vertigo when using by naïve examiners as such as interns and its agreement with senior EPs.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge to propose efficient therapies. Because severe SARS-CoV2 infection is a viral sepsis eventually followed by an immunological autoinflammatory phenomenon, many approaches have been inspired by the previous attempts made in bacterial sepsis, while specific antiviral strategies (use of interferon or specific drugs) have been additionally investigated. We summarize our current thinking on the use of SARS-CoV-2 antivirals, corticosteroids, anti-IL-1, anti-IL-6, anti-C5a, as well as stem cell therapy in severe COVID-19.
