Objective: To compare reintubation rates after planned extubation and unplanned extubation (UE) in patients in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), to analyse risk factors for reintubation after UE and to compare outcomes in patients with and without UE.
Design: Prospective, observational study nested in a randomised controlled trial (SEPREVEN/Study on Epidemiology and PRevention of adverse EVEnts in Neonates). Outcomes were expected to be independent of the intervention tested.
Introduction: Toxic gain-of-function () variants contribute to the development of proteinuric nephropathies collectively referred to as APOL1-mediated kidney disease (AMKD). Despite standard-of-care treatments, patients with AMKD experience accelerated progression to end-stage kidney disease. The identification of two variants as the genetic cause of AMKD inspired development of inaxaplin, an inhibitor of APOL1 channel activity that reduces proteinuria in patients with AMKD.

Pulmonary arterial (PA) hypertension (PAH) is a severe cardiopulmonary disease that may be triggered by exposure to drugs such as dasatinib or facilitated by genetic predispositions. The incidence of dasatinib-associated PAH is estimated at 0.45%, suggesting individual predispositions.

Late opportunistic infections (OI) occurring beyond the first year after kidney transplantation (KT) are poorly described and not targeted by prophylactic strategies. We performed a ten-year retrospective monocentric cohort study describing epidemiology, risk factors and impact of late OI occurring 1 year after KT. We included clinically symptomatic OI requiring treatment besides BK virus nephropathy.

Objective: To assess the effectiveness and safety of a rigorous short-term supine position in preventing inadvertent retinal displacement after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with gas tamponade for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational analysis of a case series at two ophthalmological surgical centers. We included eyes diagnosed with macula-off RRD that maintained a strict face-up position for three hours immediately after PPV with intraoperative perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) and 20% sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) tamponade.

Background: High circulating DPP3 (dipeptidyl peptidase 3) has been associated with poor prognosis in critically ill patients with circulatory failure. In such situation, DPP3 could play a pathological role, putatively via an excessive angiotensin peptides cleavage. Our objective was to investigate the hemodynamics changes induced by DPP3 in mice and the relation between the observed effects and renin-angiotensin system modulation.

Introduction: Patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) receiving immunosuppressive drugs are at substantial risk of colectomy. We aimed to assess the risk of postoperative complications of tofacitinib exposure before colectomy in comparison with biologics.
Methods: A multicenter, retrospective, observational study was conducted in patients with UC who underwent total colectomy for medically refractory disease, exposed to tofacitinib or a biologic before surgery.

Background: In recent years, Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex (ABC) infections have attracted attention, mainly because of the impact of carbapenem-resistant isolates in hospital-acquired infections. However, acute community-acquired ABC infections are not uncommon in warm and humid countries, where they are responsible for community-acquired infections with specific clinical features. To date, such infection has not been reported in France.

Advances in the management of sickle cell disease (SCD) have made it possible for most female patients (whether homozygous or compound heterozygous) to reach childbearing age and become pregnant. However, even in the less symptomatic forms of SCD a high risk of complications during pregnancy and the postpartum period can occur for both the mother (1% to 2% mortality) and the fetus. Coordinated care from the obstetrician and the sickle cell disease expert is essential, together with the active participation of the patient.

Introduction: Parents whom adolescents disclose sexual abuse face both a personal traumatic experience, and the need to support their child who is going through a grueling period and needs them. Many quantitative studies exploring the psychological impact of disclosure on parents have been conducted, but few have used qualitative methods. The objective of this study is to explore parents' experiences of their adolescent's disclosure of sexual abuse during psychiatric care, identify the possible beneficial factors and shortcomings, share this knowledge, and improve interventions for these families.
