Background: Cerebral complications are well-identified causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with infective endocarditis (IE). Few studies have analysed the impact of brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in IE patients with neurological manifestations.
Objectives: The aims of this study were to assess the MRI contribution to the management of patients with IE neurological manifestations and to compare cerebral CT and MRI findings.

Aims: Extracardiac complications of endocarditis influence diagnosis, therapeutic plans, and prognosis. The aim of this study was to assess how early combined cerebral and abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) affects the diagnosis and management of adults with endocarditis.
Methods And Results: In a single-centre prospective study, 58 patients with endocarditis underwent systematic cerebral and abdominal MRI within 7 days following admission.

Background: Neurologic complications of endocarditis can influence diagnosis, therapeutic plans, and prognosis.
Objective: To describe how early cerebral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) affects the diagnosis and management of endocarditis in hospitalized adults.
Design: Single-center prospective study between June 2005 and October 2008.

Background: Large-scale gene expression profiling of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) patients could provide a molecular description that reflects the contribution of diverse cellular responses associated with this disease. The aim of our study was to identify peripheral blood gene expression profiles for RA patients, using Illumina technology, to gain insights into RA molecular mechanisms.
Methodology/principal Findings: The Illumina Human-6v2 Expression BeadChips were used for a complete genome-wide transcript profiling of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from 18 RA patients and 15 controls.

Introduction: A candidate gene approach, in a large case-control association study in the Dutch population, has shown that a 480 kb block on chromosome 4q27 encompassing KIAA1109/Tenr/IL2/IL21 genes is associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Compared with case-control association studies, family-based studies have the added advantage of controlling potential differences in population structure. Therefore, our aim was to test this association in populations of European origin by using a family-based approach.
