Background: Extracorporeal life support (ECLS) provides organ perfusion in refractory cardiac arrest but during the initiation of ECLS mean arterial pressure (MAP) and carotid flow may be suboptimal due to hypotension and/or insufficient flow. We hypothesized that cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in addition to ECLS may increase carotid flow and MAP compared to ECLS alone.

Methods: Observational pilot study comparing hemodynamic parameters before and after CPR cessation in pigs supported by ECLS for experimental refractory cardiac arrest.

Meta-analyses of the effects of high-intensity interval training in elite athletes-part I: mean effects on various performance measures.

Introduction: Meta-analysts have found that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) improves physical performance, but limited evidence exists regarding its effects on highly trained athletes, measures beyond maximum oxygen uptake ( O), and the moderating effects of different types of HIIT. In this study, we present meta-analyses of the effects of HIIT focusing on these deficits.

Methods: The effects of 6 types of HIIT and other moderators were derived from 34 studies involving highly trained endurance and elite athletes in percent units via log-transformation from separate meta-regression mixed models for sprint, time-trial, aerobic/anaerobic threshold, peak speed/power, repeated-sprint ability, O, and exercise economy.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of the spinal cord is relevant for studying sensation, movement, and autonomic function. Preprocessing of spinal cord fMRI data involves segmentation of the spinal cord on gradient-echo echo planar imaging (EPI) images. Current automated segmentation methods do not work well on these data, due to the low spatial resolution, susceptibility artifacts causing distortions and signal drop-out, ghosting, and motion-related artifacts.

Accurate diagnosis and personalized management are crucial for supporting patients through complex decisions, such as those related to gender identity. This study represents the first comprehensive investigation into DSD in Iran, analyzing patient's clinical and genetic data between 1991 and 2020.

A scoping review was conducted to provide an overview of the extent of sex-disaggregated data and gender analysis in outbreak response within low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Introduction: Spinopelvic kinematics, reflected by the change in spinopelvic tilt (ΔSPT) from a standing position to a flexed seated position, has been associated with the risk of prosthetic impingement and hip dislocation. Some studies have suggested changes in spinopelvic mobility after total hip arthroplasty (THA), but none have explored changes in mobility in the first three months following THA using a direct anterior approach.

Hypothesis: Our hypothesis was that changes in spinopelvic mobility occur in the first 3 months postoperatively, leading to increased hip mobility and increased spinopelvic kinematic abnormalities.
