Introduction: It is estimated that there are nearly 40 million people with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) worldwide. Due to the advent of antiretroviral drugs, it has been observed increasing in obesity and metabolic rates among patients undergoing treatment. Thus, numerous surgical therapies for weight loss are proposed for continuous improvement in health of patients with HIV, being the vertical gastrectomy an option for intact intestinal transit.

Tertiary hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is a rare condition that affects patients with secondary HPT, which develop hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands, thus causing an increase in parathyroid hormone levels. Bone alterations are the main consequences of this condition including the development of osteolytic lesions called brown tumor. This article reports an unusual case of brown tumors located in the maxilla and mandible in a 19-year-old man with chronic renal failure with hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands.

Dentigerous cyst (DC) is the second most common odontogenic cyst with greater incidence in young patients. It presents as a unilocular, asymptomatic radiolucency involving the crown of an impacted tooth, commonly noticed in X-rays to investigate absence, wrong tooth position, or delay in the chronology of eruption. Decompression/marsupialization (D/M) is the most implemented treatment, especially when preserving the tooth involved is advised.

Methods: Placebo-controlled double-blind randomized study with 84 climacteric outpatients attended in the Lauro Wanderley University Hospital in Joao Pessoa (PB), Brazil. In the assessment of the depressive symptoms, the Brazilian version of the Center of Epidemiologic Studies of Depression (CES-D) scale was used, on the pre-treatment visits (VT1), 8th (VT2) and 16th (VT3) weeks after treatment.
