Background: The internet provides valuable benefits in supporting our lives. However, concerns arise regarding internet addiction, a behavioural disorder due to excessive and uncontrolled internet use that has harmful effects on human health and wellbeing. Studies highlighted the potential of digital behaviour change interventions to address health behaviour problems.

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is an attractive building block for biobased chemicals. Typically, ketoses like d-fructose (FRC) are suitable starting materials and give good yields of HMF in a simple aqueous phase process with a Bro̷nsted acid catalyst. With aldoses, such as d-glucose (GLU), much lower yields were reported in the literature.

Background: In this digital age, children typically start using the internet in early childhood. Studies highlighted that young children are vulnerable to internet addiction due to personal limitations and social influence (eg, family and school). Internet addiction can have long-term harmful effects on children's health and well-being.

Introduction: Poor placental angiogenesis is associated with several pregnancy complications including fetal growth restriction (FGR), which causes low birth weight (LBW) babies to have a high risk of growth disorders and metabolic disorders in adulthood. Recent research using syncytin knock-out mice showed significant disruption in the growth of placental vascularization. Syncytin-1 which encoded by ERVW-1 gene, is proposed to have a role in placental angiogenesis, but its relationship with other proangiogenic factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the placenta of LBW babies has not yet been determined.

Background: Internet addiction is an emerging mental health issue in this digital age. Nowadays, children start using the internet in early childhood, thus making them vulnerable to addictive use. Previous studies have reported that the risk of internet addiction tends to be higher in lower-income regions with lower quality of life, such as Indonesia.

Through the graft polymerization of acrylic monomers onto starch, materials with interesting new properties can be synthesized. Fenton's chemistry, Fe/HO, is considered to be attractive for the initiation of graft polymerization with the monomer acrylic acid since it is cheap and reacts quickly at ambient conditions and should therefore be easy to scale up. However, the selectivity of the grafting versus the homopolymerization reaction poses a challenge with this monomer and this type of initiator.

Natto, known for its high vitamin K content, has been demonstrated to suppress atherosclerosis in large-scale clinical trials through a yet-unknown mechanism. In this study, we used a previously reported mouse model, transplanting the bone marrow of mice expressing infra-red fluorescent protein (iRFP) into LDLR-deficient mice, allowing unique and non-invasive observation of foam cells expressing iRFP in atherosclerotic lesions. Using 3 natto strains, we meticulously examined the effects of varying vitamin K levels on atherosclerosis in these mice.

With the continual increase in global cheese consumption, rennet, the traditional milk coagulant, is unable to meet the growing demand in cheese production. Although several proteases from other sources have been used for cheese-making, they suffer various shortcomings. The ocean is home to a huge and diverse range of life forms, which represent a vast potential source of proteases.

In recent years, utilization of polysaccharides as natural coagulant and coagulant-aid has become a topic of interest, due to the nature of biopolymers that are renewable, biodegradable, and non-toxic. In this study, Congo red, as a model dye substance, was treated using polyaluminium chloride (PAC) as the main coagulant and xanthan gum as the coagulant aid. For this purpose, the effect of pH (3-9), xanthan gum dose (0.

Mobility and out-of-home activities restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic have forced people to maximize their in-home activities. Considering the increase in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) adoption during the outbreak, this paper tries to shed light on the factors that influence changing travel behavior. For these purposes, the study uses data collected through an online questionnaire during the outbreak in Indonesia, which was then analyzed using cluster and discriminant analyses.

Extreme weather events cause stream overflow and lead to urban inundation. In this study, a decentralized flood monitoring system is proposed to provide water level predictions in streams three hours ahead. The customized sensor in the system measures the water levels and implements edge computing to produce future water levels.

There are five different forms of intervention presently realised by the Indonesian government in an effort to end the COVID-19 pandemic: vaccinations, social restrictions, tracings, testings, and treatments. In this paper, we construct a mathematical model of type SVEIQHR (susceptible-vaccinated-exposed-infected-quarantined-hospitalised-recovered) for the disease's spread in the country, which incorporates as parameters the rates of the above interventions, as well as the vaccine's efficacy. We determine the model's equilibria and basic reproduction number.

In this work, two novel routes to synthesis cross-linked polypropylene (PP) are introduced by using two different precursors (2-thiophenemethyl amine (TMA) and 1-(3 aminopropyl) imidazole (API)), both cross-linked with 1,1'-(methylenedi-4,1-phenylene) bismaleimide (BM) at two different annealing temperature values ( = 50 °C and = 150 °C). Both Diels-Alder (DA) and Michael addition reactions were successfully performed with TMA and API, respectively, albeit with different reactivity. Imidazole clearly shows a higher reactivity compared to thiophene.

This study is aimed at identifying and characterising the proteases we previously extracted from the red seaweed Gracilaria edulis with the potential as milk-clotting enzymes. The protease extract was first analysed by sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and zymography. Two protease bands with a molecular weight of 44 and 108 kDa were identified, and analysed using in-gel digestion and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).

In this work, the possibility of preparing cross-linked polypropylene (PP) via Diels−Alder (DA) chemistry is explored. The overall strategy involves reaction of maleated polypropylene (the starting material), furfuryl amine (FFA), and bismaleimide (BM) as the cross-linking agent. The occurrence of reversible cross-linking was studied by checking the presence of relevant peaks in FTIR spectra, i.

Background: Standards writers, national and international, have used different contrast calculations to set requirements in building elements for people with visual impairments. On the other hand, they have typically set a single requirement (30%) for specifying the minimum contrast. The systems are not linearly related and 30% means something rather different in each system.

We find a new class of exact solutions in the Einstein-Maxwell theory by employing the Ernst magnetization process to the Kerr-Newman-Taub-NUT spacetimes. We study the solutions and find that they are regular everywhere. We also find the quasilocal conserved quantities for the spacetimes, the corresponding Smarr formula and the first law of thermodynamics.

This study aimed at evaluating the performance of two process-driven conceptual rainfall-runoff models (HBV: Hydrologiska Byråns Vattenbalansavdelning, and NRECA: Non Recorded Catchment Areas) and seven hybrid models based on three artificial intelligence (AI) methods (adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), support vector machine (SVM), and group method of data handling (GMDH)) in simulating streamflow in four river basins in Indonesia. HBV and NRECA were developed based on precipitation data.
