The classification of thyroid nodules, particularly those with a follicular growth pattern, has significantly evolved. These tumors, enriched with RAS or RAS-like mutations, remain challenging for pathologists due to variables such as nuclear atypia, invasion, mitotic activity, and tumor necrosis. This review addresses the histological correlates of benign, low-risk, and malignant RAS-mutant thyroid tumors, as well as some difficult-to-classify follicular nodules with worrisome features.

Background: Differentiated high-grade thyroid carcinoma (DHGTC) is recently recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a subgroup of thyroid carcinomas with high-grade features while retaining the architectural and/or cytologic features of well-differentiated follicular-cell-derived tumors. The cytomorphology of DHGTC is not well documented despite potential implications for patient triage and management.

Methods: The pathology archives of six institutions were searched for cases diagnosed on resection as "high-grade thyroid carcinoma" using WHO criteria.

Enfortumab is a monoclonal antibody directed against nectin-4 and, when combined with vedotin, is an antibody-drug conjugate approved for the treatment of locally advanced or metastatic urothelial cancers. A 75-year-old woman with stage IV papillary urothelial carcinoma of the bladder who completed cycle 2 of enfortumab vedotin (EV) infusions presented to our dermatology department for new-onset symmetric and painful dusky erythematous patches on the extremities and trunk without mucosal involvement. Two biopsies were obtained, which revealed an interface dermatitis with notable ring mitoses within the basal and suprabasal layers of the epidermis without epidermal necrosis.

The latest update in 2022 classifies all renal cell carcinomas into six categories according to their morphology or the detection of specific molecular alterations. To develop and validate a 3D simulation model to calculate laser ablation (LA) zone size and estimate the volume of treated tissue for thyroid applications, a model was developed, taking into account dynamic optical and thermal properties of tissue change. For validation, ten Yorkshire swines were equally divided into two cohorts and underwent thyroid LA at 3 W/1,400 J and 3 W/1,800 J respectively with a 1064-nm multi-source laser (Echolaser X4 with Orblaze technology; ElEn SpA, Calenzano, Italy).
