Pregnancy and Urology Residency: Towards Equity-centred Practice.

For urology to be truly inclusive in the future, an equity-centred approach to pregnancy is required. Conditions for pregnant women and those caring for a newborn must be optimised to achieve this goal. The European Association of Urology could play a role in addressing the key issues and priorities and set an example for national urological associations.

Assessment of biological effect of nab-paclitaxel combined with gemcitabine, using contrast enhanced ultrasonography and elastography, in advanced pancreatic ductal carcinoma: A single-center pilot study.

EUS associated with contrast-enhanced harmonic EUS (CH-EUS) and EUS elastography (EUS-E) are used in clinical practice to assess pancreatic tumor at the diagnosis. In case of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) with liver metastasis, nab-paclitaxel combined with gemcitabine is a first-line treatment option. We aimed to assess the modification of PDAC microenvironment induced by the combination of nab-paclitaxel with gemcitabine, by endoscopic ultrasonography techinics.

Lymph node dissection in uterine leiomyosarcomas: A matched-pair study.

Objective: To assess the impact of the lymph node dissection (LND) in the disease-free (DFS) and overall survival (OS) of the women treated surgically of uterine leiomyosarcoma (ULMS).

Material And Methods: A multicentric retrospective study was conducted among European countries collecting patients diagnosed of uterine sarcoma (SARcoma of the UTerus - SARCUT study). A total of 390 ULMS were selected for the present study to compare patients who underwent LND and those who did not.

Survival after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) for severe idiopathic aplastic anemia (SAA) has improved in recent years, approaching 75% at 5 years. However, an SAA-adapted composite endpoint, graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) and relapse/rejection-free survival (GRFS), may more accurately assess patient outcomes beyond survival. We analyzed GRFS to identify risk factors and specific causes of GRFS failure.

Endoscopic Ultrasound-guided Radiofrequency Ablation Versus Surgical Resection for Treatment of Pancreatic Insulinoma.

Background & Aims: Endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) is emerging as a safe and effective treatment for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. We aimed to compare EUS-RFA and surgical resection for the treatment of pancreatic insulinoma (PI).

Methods: Patients with sporadic PI who underwent EUS-RFA at 23 centers or surgical resection at 8 high-volume pancreatic surgery institutions between 2014 and 2022 were retrospectively identified and outcomes compared using a propensity-matching analysis.

PET-MRI for evaluation of response to radiochemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.

Objective: We aimed to analyze the diagnostic test accuracy of positron emission tomography and a magnetic resonance imaging scan (PET-MRI) fusion in evaluating tumor response after radiochemotherapy in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer.

Methods: Patients treated at two institutes between January 2008 and December 2016 were studied retrospectively. Re-evaluation by positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed in a non-concurrent way 4-8 weeks after treatment.

Our primary objective was to analyze variations in tumor stage and subtype over time. Secondary objectives included analyses of type of surgery and pathological response, from January 2005 to May 2021, 1623 patients receiving NAC were identified.

Machine-learning approach for prediction of pT3a upstaging and outcomes of localized renal cell carcinoma (UroCCR-15).

Objectives: To assess the impact of pathological upstaging from clinically localized to locally advanced pT3a on survival in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC), as well as the oncological safety of various surgical approaches in this setting, and to develop a machine-learning-based, contemporary, clinically relevant model for individual preoperative prediction of pT3a upstaging.

Materials And Methods: Clinical data from patients treated with either partial nephrectomy (PN) or radical nephrectomy (RN) for cT1/cT2a RCC from 2000 to 2019, included in the French multi-institutional kidney cancer database UroCCR, were retrospectively analysed. Seven machine-learning algorithms were applied to the cohort after a training/testing split to develop a predictive model for upstaging to pT3a.

RET-MAP: An International Multicenter Study on Clinicobiologic Features and Treatment Response in Patients With Lung Cancer Harboring a RET Fusion.

Objective: Chemotherapy for high-grade serous ovarian cancers in platinum-sensitive relapse includes carboplatin/paclitaxel, carboplatin/gemcitabine, and carboplatin/pegylated liposomal doxorubicin. According to data, mutated patients are sensitive to replicative stress agents but status is not yet used for the choice of chemotherapy at relapse. Our aim was to assess these doublets according to status in first platinum-sensitive relapse.

Unlabelled: Immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) rates increase during last years and implant-based reconstruction was the most commonly performed procedure. We examined data collected over 25 months to assess complication rate, duration of surgery, patient's satisfaction and cost, according to pre-pectoral or sub-pectoral implant-IBR. All patients who received an implant-IBR, from January 2020 to January 2022, were included.

EUS-guided transenteric pancreatic duct drainage.

Endoscopic drainage requires transpapillary access to the pancreatic duct during ERCP. When ERCP failed, EUS-guided pancreatico-gastro or bulbostomy and/or rendez-vous technique offers an alternative to surgery. Although data has demonstrated that the procedure can be safe and effective, EUS-guided PD drainage remains one of the most technically challenging therapeutic EUS interventions, as evidenced by the multiple considerations on device selection and the risk of severe complications.

The Identification of Large Rearrangements Involving Intron 2 of the Gene in Negative and Breast Cancer Susceptibility.

E-cadherin, a gene product, is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion molecule playing a critical role in the establishment of epithelial architecture, maintenance of cell polarity, and differentiation. Germline pathogenic variants in the gene are associated with hereditary diffuse gastric cancer (HDGC), and large rearrangements in the gene are now being reported as well. Because pathogenic variants could be associated with breast cancer (BC) susceptibility, rearrangements could also impact it.

EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy in patients with obstructive jaundice after failed or impossible endoscopic retrograde drainage: A multicenter, randomized phase II Study.

Background And Objectives: Over the last two decades, EUS-guided hepaticogastrostomy (EUS-HGS) has emerged as a therapeutic alternative for patients with biliary obstruction and failed ERCP. Background: Anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1)/programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) agents have only moderate antitumor activity in some advanced solid tumors (AST), including breast cancer (BC), prostate cancer (PC), cervical cancer (CC), and head and neck cancer (HNC). Combining anti-PD-L1 with anti-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein (CTLA) and chemotherapy may significantly improve efficacy.

Patients And Methods: MOVIE is a multicohort phase I/II study examining the combination of anti-PD-L1 durvalumab (Durv; 1500 mg IV Q4W) plus anti-CTLA tremelimumab (Trem; 75 mg IV Q4W) with metronomic vinorelbine (MVino; 20-40 mg orally daily) in various AST resistant to conventional therapies.

Nomogram to predict disease recurrence in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer undergoing rectal surgery after neoadjuvant therapy: retrospective cohort study.

Introduction: Prognostic models can be used for predicting survival outcomes and guiding patient management. TNM staging alone is insufficient for predicting recurrence after chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and surgery for locally advanced rectal cancer. This study aimed to develop a nomogram to better predict cancer recurrence after CRT followed by total mesorectal excision (TME) and tailor postoperative management and follow-up.

Background: Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive malignancy and a leading cause of cancer death worldwide; its lethality is partly linked to the difficulty of early diagnosis. Modern devices for endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) were recently developed to improve targeting and sampling of small lesions, but innovative technologies for microscopic assessment are still lacking. Ex vivo fluorescence confocal laser microscopy (FCM) is a new digital tool for real-time microscopic assessment of fresh unfixed biological specimens, avoiding conventional histological slide preparation and potentially being highly appealing for EUS-FNB specimens.

Impact of fiducial markers placement on the delineation of target volumes in radiation therapy for oesophageal cancer: FIDUCOR study.

Purpose: This prospective monocentric phase II study (FIDUCOR-study, NCT02526134) aimed to assess the impact of fiducial markers (FMs) implantation on conformal chemo-radiation therapy (CRT) planning in oesophageal carcinoma (EC) patients.

Methods/materials: Fifteen EC patients were enrolled in the study. Each patient underwent two simulation CT-scans before (CT1) and after (CT2) FMs implantation, in the same position.
