The ferrous ion content of metatitanic acid affected the whiteness, purity and applications of TiO, controlled by the hydrolysis conditions and metatitanic acid structure. The structural evolution of metatitanic acid and ferrous ion removal was investigated by hydrolyzing the industrial TiOSO solution. The hydrolysis degree was conformed to Boltzmann model with good fitting.

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are recognized as one of the second-generation electrochemical energy storage systems with the most potential due to their high theoretical specific capacity of the sulfur cathode (1675 mAhg), abundant elemental sulfur energy storage, low price, and green friendliness. However, the shuttle effect of polysulfides results in the passivation of the lithium metal anode, resulting in a decrease in battery capacity, Coulombic efficiency, and cycle stability, which seriously restricts the commercialization of LSBs. Starting from the separator layer before the positive sulfur cathode and lithium metal anode, introducing a barrier layer for the shuttle of polysulfides is considered an extremely effective research strategy.

Improving the prediction accuracies of economically important traits in genomic selection (GS) is a main objective for researchers and breeders in the livestock industry. This study aims at utilizing potentially functional SNPs and QTLs identified with various genome-wide association study (GWAS) models in GS of pig growth traits. We used three well-established GWAS methods, including the mixed linear model, Bayesian model and meta-analysis, as well as 60K SNP-chip and whole genome sequence (WGS) data from 1734 Yorkshire and 1123 Landrace pigs to detect SNPs related to four growth traits: average daily gain, backfat thickness, body weight and birth weight.

Phosphides have been used in a wide range of applications due to their excellent optical, mechanical, and catalytic properties. Using an effective unbiased structure searching method combined with first-principles calculations, the phase diagram and physical and chemical properties of aluminum phosphides have been determined at high pressures. The results reveal that the unconventional stoichiometries of AlP, AlP, and AlP remain stable above 66, 91, and 116 GPa, respectively.

A novel [3 + 2] cascade reaction of aryl acetate with 1,4-dihydroxy-2-naphthoic acid ester by cooperative catalysis of isothiourea and vanadium is developed. The key step of the reaction is that the C1-ammonium enolates generated from aryl acetate will cycloadduct to 1,4-naphthoquinone intermediates. 3-Aryl-3-benzofuranone derivatives can be prepared in medium to good yields under mild conditions.

Phenolic compounds are frequently occurring in wastewaters from various industrial processes at high concentrations, imposing prominent risk to aquatic biosphere and human health. Bioremediation has been proven to be an effective approach to remove these compounds, and hunting for functional organisms is still of primary importance to develop efficient processes. In this study, we report several newly isolated bacillus strains with superior performances in metabolizing phenols, one of which showed paramount efficiencies to metabolize phenol at concentrations up to 1200 mg L and could simultaneously degrade a wide range of other phenolic compounds.
