Extracellular matrix (ECM) metabolism disorders in the inflammatory microenvironment play a key role in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). Interleukin-32 (IL-32) has been reported to be involved in the progression of various inflammatory diseases; however, it remains unclear whether it participates in the matrix metabolism of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the mechanism of IL-32 on regulating the ECM metabolism in the inflammatory microenvironment.

The toxic effects of nanoparticles-silver oxide (Ag O) limited its use. However, loading Ag O nanoparticles into titanium dioxide (TiO ) nanotubes (Ag O-TiO -NTs) has more efficient biological activity and safety. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of Ag O-TiO -NTs on osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and its mechanism.

[A transcriptomic study of osteoporosis induced by ketogenic diet in mice].

Objective: To investigate the molecular mechanism of osteoporosis caused by ketogenic diet (KD) using transcriptomic analysis.

Methods: Sixteen 8-week-old female C57BL/6J mice were divided into KD group and sham group for feeding with KD and normal diet for 3 months, respectively. Body weight, blood glucose and blood ketone levels of the mice were measured every two weeks.

Effect of L5 spinal canal type on pedicle screw placement based on CT imaging: a retrospective clinical study.

Purpose: The objective of this study was to investigate the optimal entry point and pedicle camber angle for L5 pedicle screws of different canal types.

Methods: CT imaging data were processed by Mimics for simulated pedicle screw placement, and PD (Pedicle diameter), PCA (Pedicle camber angle), LD (Longitudinal distance), TD (Transverse distance), and PBG (Pedicle screw breach grade) were measured. Then they were divided into the Round group and Trefoil group according to the type of spinal canal.

Roxb (SGR) has been widely applied alone or in combination with other Chinese herbs in heart failure (HF), but its mechanism and protective effect have not been investigated. We aimed to explore the mechanism and protective effect of SGR on the treatment of HF. Network pharmacology analysis predicted that SGR was involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, oxidation-reduction process, apoptotic process, ERK1 and ERK2 cascade, MAPK cascade, etc.

Comparative efficacy and safety of four classical prescriptions for clearing damp-heat recommended by clinical guidelines in treating rheumatoid arthritis: a network meta-analysis.

Background: In China, along with conventional synthetic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (csDMARDs), some herbal formulae for clearing damp-heat are widely applied in treating rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We aimed to summarize and compare the clinical effects of 4 guideline-recommended formulae, including Baihuguizhi decoction, Dangguiniantong decoction, Simiao pill, and Xuanbi decoction.

Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chinese Science and Technique Journals (CQVIP), WanFang, and SinoMed (CBM) databases were searched for randomized controlled trials from inception to July 2020 evaluating the efficacy and safety of these recommended herbal formulae combined with 1 csDMARD versus csDMARD alone in RA patients.
