Background: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) has been identified as a significant contributor to the cancer burden. This study investigates the incidence, mortality, and survival trends of NHL cancer in Brunei Darussalam from 2011 to 2020.

Methods: This is a registry-based retrospective study using de-identified data from the Brunei Darussalam Cancer Registry on patients diagnosed with NHL from 2011 to 2020 based on the ICD-10 codes C82-86.

Multi-actor system dynamics in access to disease-modifying treatments for multiple sclerosis in Southeast Asia: A regional survey and suggestions for improvement.

Background: Despite the global availability of multiple sclerosis (MS) treatments, accessing and financing them in Southeast Asia (SEA) remains a challenge. This descriptive survey-based study aimed to describe the current state of MS treatment access and local access dynamics within this region.

Methods: The survey questionnaire, comprising of 15 closed-ended and five open-ended questions, was developed by three neurologists with expertise in MS and routine MS patient management, or had training in neuroimmunology.

Prostate cancer management in Southeast Asian countries: a survey of clinical practice patterns.

Background: Prostate cancer (PC) has a serious public health impact, and its incidence is rising due to the aging population. There is limited evidence and consensus to guide the management of PC in Southeast Asia (SEA). We present real-world data on clinical practice patterns in SEA for advanced PC care.

Ventriculoperitoneal Shunt Surgery in Brunei Darussalam: A Population-Based Perspective.

 Ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery is commonly performed to treat hydrocephalus. We aimed to characterize the demographics, complications, and outcomes of patients who underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery in Brunei Darussalam.  We conducted a retrospective study on patients who underwent ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery at the Neurosurgery Department of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital and Brunei Neuroscience Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre between January 2015 and June 2020.

Outcomes and Associated Complications of Cranioplasty following Craniectomy in Brunei Darussalam.

 Cranioplasty, commonly performed after decompressive craniectomy, is associated with significant complications. We aim to characterize the outcomes and complications post cranioplasty performed in Brunei Darussalam.  We conducted a nationwide retrospective study of the patients who underwent cranioplasty.

Evaluation of cardiovascular diseases risk calculators for CVDs prevention and management: scoping review.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. This review aimed to summarise evidence on the key features, usability and benefits of CVD risk calculators using digital platforms for CVDs prevention and management in populations.

Methods: We used search engines and thematic analyses to conduct a scoping review.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancer types, with rising incidence due to imbalanced lifestyle and dietary habit. Association between CRC cases and mutation has been established recently. Brunei Darussalam, located within the Borneo island, is of diverse ethnicity which could represent the genome of Southeast Asia population.

Incidence, Mortality and Survival Analysis of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer in Brunei Darussalam.

Background: This study provides population-based study of cancer incidence, mortality and survival rates for women diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), and evaluate the prognostic factors of EOC patients survival in Brunei Darussalam.

Methods: This is a retrospective  study of patients diagnosed with EOC between 1st January 2007 and 31st December 2017 in Brunei Darussalam. Crude, age-specific, age-standardized incidence and mortality rates per 100,000 women were calculated.

Automated Cobb Angle Measurement for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Using Convolutional Neural Network.

The Cobb angle measurement of the scoliotic spine is prone to inter- and intra-observer variations in the clinical setting. This paper proposes a deep learning architecture for detecting spine vertebrae from X-ray images to evaluate the Cobb angle automatically. The public AASCE MICCAI 2019 anterior-posterior X-ray image dataset and local images were used to train and test the proposed convolutional neural network architecture.

Consensus recommendation on the use of therapeutic plasma exchange for adult neurological diseases in Southeast Asia from the Southeast Asia therapeutic plasma exchange consortium.

Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) is an effective and affordable treatment option in most parts of Southeast Asia (SEA). In 2018, the SEA TPE Consortium (SEATPEC) was established, consisting of regional neurologists working to improve outcome of various autoimmune neurological diseases. We proposed an immunotherapeutic guideline prioritizing TPE for this region.

The burden and risks factors for intracerebral hemorrhage in a Southeast Asian population.

Objective: The characteristics of intracerebral hemorrhage in Southeast Asian countries are insufficiently represented in the literature despite a large proportion of new stroke cases and deaths. This study aims to report the epidemiological and clinical presentation of intracerebral hemorrhage in Brunei Darussalam and investigate its incidence according to sex and age, as well as in relation to clinical presentation, radiological findings, and prognostic factors.

Methods: This retrospective study of intracerebral hemorrhage admissions was conducted from 1 January 2016-31 December 2019.

Psychosocial factors and burnout among oncology nurses in Brunei Darussalam: A pilot study.

Background: Existing evidence showed that adverse psychosocial factors contribute to burnout in oncology nurses and impose profound implications to nursing practice. Due to the complexity of this relationship, more studies are still needed.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence and relationship between burnout and psychosocial factors among oncology nurses.

Preparing for the Next Pandemic: An Asian National Cancer Centers Alliance (ANCCA) Initiative.

The COVID-pandemic has shown significant impact on cancer care from early detection, management plan to clinical outcomes of cancer patients. The Asian National Cancer Centres Alliance (ANCCA) has put together the 9 "Ps" as guidelines for cancer programs to better prepare for the next pandemic. The 9 "Ps" are Priority, Protocols and Processes, Patients, People, Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs), Pharmaceuticals, Places, Preparedness, and Politics.

Survival of colorectal cancer patients in Brunei Darussalam: comparison between 2002-09 and 2010-17.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in men and women in Brunei Darussalam in 2017, posing a major burden on society.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study (n = 1035 patients diagnosed with CRC in Brunei Darussalam from 1st January 2002 until 31st December 2017) aims to compare the overall survival rates of CRC patients (2002-2017), to compare survival rates between two study periods (2002-2009 and 2010-2017) and to identify prognostic factors of CRC.

Incidence, Survival and Prognostic Factors of Oesophagogastric Cancer.

Introduction: Oesophagogastric cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death worldwide due to its aggressive nature. Despite the high mortality rate, there is limited information regarding this cancer in Brunei.

Aim: To estimate the incidence and survival duration of oesophagogastric cancer patients, to identify prognostic factors of oesophagogastric cancer and associated factors for late-stage oesophagogastric cancer detection.

Childhood Cancer Survival in Brunei Darussalam.

Background: This study aims to determine the survival rates for children and adolescents aged 0-19 years diagnosed with childhood cancer and to evaluate the associated factors for childhood cancer survival in Brunei Darussalam.

Methods: The analysis was based on de-identified data of 263 childhood cancer for the period 2002 to 2017 retrieved from a population-based cancer registry. Overall survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Survival Rates and Associated Factors of Colorectal Cancer Patients in Brunei Darussalam.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in both men and women. In most Asian countries, both the incidence and mortality rates of CRC are gradually increasing. In Brunei Darussalam, CRC ranks first and second in lifetime risk among men and women respectively.

Proceedings of the Inaugural Strategy Meeting for the Establishment of a Southeast Asia Regional Therapeutic Plasma Exchange Consortium for Neurological Disorders.

In conjunction with the third regional Southeast Asian (SEA) therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 25 clinicians and researchers from SEA and South Asian countries attended the inaugural strategy meeting for the establishment of a regional TPE consortium for neurological disorders. The primary objective was to establish regional collaboration to improve delivery of TPE services in SEA. A pre-meeting survey was conducted to gather insights on disease spectrum, contextual practice challenges, and the need for a regional TPE consensus.

Effect of dry needling on cubital tunnel syndrome: Three case reports.

This case series describes three patients who presented with right medial elbow pain managed unsuccessfully with conservative treatment that included medication, massage, exercise therapy, ultrasound therapy, neurodynamic mobilization, and taping. Diagnosis of cubital tunnel syndrome was based on palpatory findings, a positive elbow flexion test, and a positive Tinel's sign. Conventionally, the intervention for this entrapment has been surgical decompression, with successful outcomes.

Effect of physical therapy management of nonspecific low back pain with exercise addiction behaviors: A case series.

This case series describes two patients, aged 35 and 45 years, respectively, who presented with chronic nonspecific low back pain (NSLBP) having exercise addiction (EA) behaviors. Diagnosis of EA was based on clinical findings, exercising patterns and withdrawal symptoms along with high scores in the EA inventory. This report is a potential first-time description of the successful physical therapy management of NSLBP associated with EA utilizing pain neuroscience education (with individualized curriculum), mindfulness, breathing, quota-based reduction in exercises and modification of exercises into social participation, pleasure activities and hobbies.
