"Diabetes mellitus" is a chronic metabolic disorder manifested by elevated blood glucose levels, primarily due to insufficient insulin production or resistance to insulin. Long-term diabetes results in persistent complications like retinopathy, cardiomyopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy, causing significant health risks. The most alarming microvascular consequence allied with diabetes is "diabetic retinopathy," distinguished by the proliferation of anomalous blood vessels in the eye, mainly in the retina, resulting in visual impairment, diabetic macular edema, and retinal detachment if left untreated.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most aggressive malignant brain tumor with a short survival rate. Extensive research is underway for the last two decades to find an effective treatment for GBM but the tortuous pathophysiology, development of chemoresistance, and presence of BBB are the major challenges, prompting scientists to look for alternative targets and delivery strategies. Therefore, the nose to brain delivery emerged as an unorthodox and non-invasive route, which delivers the drug directly to the brain the olfactory and trigeminal pathways and also bypasses the BBB and hepatic metabolism of the drug.

Review on Monoclonal Antibodies (mAbs) as a Therapeutic Approach for Type 1 Diabetes.

Curr Diabetes Rev

June 2024

Neuropharmacology division, Department of Pharmacology, ISF College of Pharmacy, Moga, (Pb.) 142001, India.

Monoclonal antibodies have been successfully utilized in a variety of animal models to treat auto-immune illnesses for a long time. Immune system responses will either be less active or more active depending on how the immune system is operating abnormally. Immune system hypoactivity reduces the body's capacity to fight off various invading pathogens, whereas immune system hyperactivity causes the body to attack and kill its own tissues and cells.

Insights on Quercetin Therapeutic Potential for Neurodegenerative Diseases and its Nano-technological Perspectives.

Curr Pharm Biotechnol

July 2024

Institutes for Systems Genetics, Frontiers Science Center for Disease-related Molecular Network, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, Sichuan, China.

The neurodegeneration process begins in conjunction with the aging of the neurons. It manifests in different parts of the brain as Aβ plaques, neurofibrillary tangles, Lewy bodies, Pick bodies, and other structures, which leads to progressive loss or death of neurons. Quercetin (QC) is a flavonoid compound found in fruits, tea, and other edible plants have antioxidant effects that have been studied from subcellular compartments to tissue levels in the brain.

Secure Data Aggregation Based on End-to-End Homomorphic Encryption in IoT-Based Wireless Sensor Networks.

Sensors (Basel)

July 2023

Department of Information Systems, College of Computer and Information Sciences, King Saud University, P.O. Box 51178, Riyadh 11543, Saudi Arabia.

By definition, the aggregating methodology ensures that transmitted data remain visible in clear text in the aggregated units or nodes. Data transmission without encryption is vulnerable to security issues such as data confidentiality, integrity, authentication and attacks by adversaries. On the other hand, encryption at each hop requires extra computation for decrypting, aggregating, and then re-encrypting the data, which results in increased complexity, not only in terms of computation but also due to the required sharing of keys.
