Cancer-meter: measure and cure.

This paper presents a theory and system on "Cancer-Meter'. This idea came through the statement that "cancer is curable if it is measurable". The Cancer-Meter proves that it is possible.

Spatio-temporal measurement of indoor particulate matter concentrations using a wireless network of low-cost sensors in households using solid fuels.

Many households use solid fuels for cooking and heating purposes. There is currently a knowledge gap in our understanding of the variations in indoor air quality throughout the household as most of the studies focus on the areas in the close proximity of the cookstove. A low-cost wireless particulate matter (PM) sensor network was developed and deployed in households in Raipur, India to establish the spatio-temporal variation of PM concentrations.

Deleterious effects of incense smoke exposure on kidney function and architecture in male albino rats.

Context: Previous studies, including ours, have shown adverse effects of incense smoke on human health. However, the effect of incense smoke on kidney function and structure remains unknown.

Objective: To evaluate possible adverse effects of incense smoke on kidney function and architecture in albino rats after chronic exposure to Arabian incense.

BMI1: A Biomarker of Hematologic Malignancies.

BMI1 oncogene is a catalytic member of epigenetic repressor polycomb group proteins. It plays a critical role in the regulation of gene expression pattern and consequently several cellular processes during development, including cell cycle progression, senescence, aging, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and importantly self-renewal of adult stem cells of several lineages. Preponderance of evidences indicates that deregulated expression of PcG protein BMI1 is associated with several human malignancies, cancer stem cell maintenance, and propagation.

In vitro and in vivo evaluation of PEGylated nanoparticles of bendamustine for treatment of lung cancer.

The purpose of this study was to develop PEGylated nanoparticles of bendamustine (BM) to improve therapeutic efficiency of drug and reduce the side-effects. The nanoparticles were prepared by a modified diffusion-emulsification method. The particle size and zeta potential of optimized BM-loaded PEGylated NPs were found to be 256 nm and -29.

Luteolin-phospholipid complex: preparation, characterization and biological evaluation.

Objectives: This study aims to develop novel carrier system incorporating luteolin, a poorly soluble biologically active plant active.

Methods: We investigated a lipid-based drug delivery system to enhance dissolution and absorption profile of luteolin. Luteolin was complexed with phospholipids, and the preparation was characterized.

Approximately 95% of the population suffers at some point in their lifetime from acne vulgaris. Acne is a multifactorial disease of the pilosebaceous unit. This inflammatory skin disorder is most common in adolescents but also affects neonates, prepubescent children, and adults.

Nucleophilic attack of salicylhydroxamate ion at C=O and P=O centers in cationic micellar media.

The reaction between the salicylhydroxamate anion (SHA(-)) and p-nitrophenyl benzoate (PNPB), tris(3-nitrophenyl)phosphate (TRIS), and bis(2,4-dinitrophenyl)phosphate (BDNPP) have been examined kinetically. The α-nucleophile, SHA(-), incorporated into cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelles accelerates dephosphorylation of tris(3-nitrophenyl)phosphate (TRIS) over the pH range 6.7-11.

Repaglinide-loaded long-circulating biodegradable nanoparticles: rational approach for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Background: Repaglinide (RPG) is an oral hypoglycemic agent with excellent bioavailability (90-98%) and a short plasma half-life (2-6 h). A full dose of RPG is required before each meal; hence, therapy may become inconvenient. Thus, the aim of the present study was to design a novel delivery system to maintain peak plasma levels of RPG for the long-term management of diabetes mellitus.
