Annual variations in animal's physiological functions are an essential strategy to deal with seasonal challenges which also vary according to the time of year. Information regarding annual adaptations in the immune-competence to cope with seasonal stressors in reptiles is scarce. The present research plan was designed to analyze the presence of circannual immune rhythms in defense responses of the leucocytes in an ophidian, Natrix piscator.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), is characterized by a progressive loss of cognitive abilities as well as behavioral symptoms including disorientation, trouble solving problems, personality and mood changes. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is a promising target for symptomatic improvement in AD due to its consistent and early cholinergic deficit. This research has investigated the potential compounds from as AChE inhibitors as a treatment option for AD, aiming to enhance cholinergic neurotransmission and alleviate cognitive decline.

Temperature influences the survival, growth, and development of insects including the antlion. In the present study, we examined the 24-h rhythm in the pit-building behavior of the antlion larvae at three different temperature conditions, high (37°C), low (17°C), and room temperature (Control: 25.9 ± 0.

Purpose: Circadian rest-Activity Rhythm Disorders (CARDs) are common in patients with cancer, particularly in advanced disease. CARDs are associated with increased symptom burden, poorer quality of life, and shorter survival. Research and reporting practices lack standardization, and formal diagnostic criteria do not exist.

The seminal discovery of paclitaxel from endophytic fungus was a milestone in recognizing the immense potential of endophytic fungi as prolific producers of bioactive secondary metabolites of use in medicine, agriculture, and food industries. Following the discovery of paclitaxel, the research community has intensified efforts to harness endophytic fungi as putative producers of lead molecules with anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, cardio-protective, and immunomodulatory properties. Endophytic fungi have been a valuable source of bioactive compounds over the last three decades.

Annual rhythms in immune function are the reflection of a crucial physiological strategy to deal with environmental stressors. The fish are pivotal animal models to study the annual rhythm and to understand the evolution of the vertebrate biological system. The current research was planned to assess the annual changes in the innate immune functions of immune cells in a teleost, .

Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are flashes of high-energy radiation arising from energetic cosmic explosions. Bursts of long (greater than two seconds) duration are produced by the core-collapse of massive stars, and those of short (less than two seconds) duration by the merger of compact objects, such as two neutron stars. A third class of events with hybrid high-energy properties was identified, but never conclusively linked to a stellar progenitor.

Annual rhythms are observed in many physiological processes and are an important approach to cope with seasonal stressors. The use of lower vertebrates as an experimental model is crucial to understand the evolution of this biological clock. This study aims to characterize the seasonal variability in the leukocyte immune responses in Channa punctatus.

The unending outburst of COVID-19 has reinforced the necessity of SARS-CoV-2 identification approaches for the prevention of infection transmission and the proper care of severe and critical patients. As there is no cure, a prompt and reliable diagnosis of SARS-CoV2 is vital to counter the spread and to provide adequate care and treatment for the infection. Currently, RT-PCR is a gold standard detection method for the qualitative and quantitative detection of viral nucleic acids.

The information on the circadian characteristics of catfish in shoals is scanty. We examined the circadian locomotor activity rhythm of catfish either singly housed (SS1) or in shoals of four (SS4) and six (SS6) under different light regimens. We carried out the study sequentially under LD (12:12), constant darkness (DD), LD, continuous light (LL), LD, and DL (12:12).

Over the past 10 years, Oosterhof and Todorov's valence-dominance model has emerged as the most prominent account of how people evaluate faces on social dimensions. In this model, two dimensions (valence and dominance) underpin social judgements of faces. Because this model has primarily been developed and tested in Western regions, it is unclear whether these findings apply to other regions.

Many findings in psychological science are based on studies with insufficient statistical power and nonrepresentative samples, or may otherwise be limited to specific, ungeneralizable settings or populations. Crowdsourced research, a type of large-scale collaboration in which one or more research projects are conducted across multiple lab sites, offers a pragmatic solution to these and other current methodological challenges.

This is the first research article that documents circadian variability in behavioral variables, namely resting (Rt) and standing (St) in stray street dogs of Sambalpur city, India. We also estimated the abundance as a function of time of the day and gender in a population of stray dog inhabiting streets of the city. In addition, we determined the association between the behavioral variables and the environmental variables, such as light intensity, sound intensity, temperature and humidity.

In the current study, we studied behavioral patterns, such as foraging, activity, standing, and laying in a population of cattle wandering on streets of Raipur city. We also determined the effects of four environmental factors (temperature, humidity, light, and noise intensities) on these behaviors. We recorded all four behavioral variables at four time points each day over a period of three consecutive days at 10 randomly selected locations using on-site human observation method, digital video, and still camera.

Emission factors (EFs) of PM carbon fractions, major ionic (K, Ca, NH, SO, NO and Cl) and elemental (Al, Cr, Cu and Fe) species from combustion of commonly used household solid fuel were determined in 10 different states in India during cooking practices. The study involved sampling during actual household cooking involving use of a variety of fuels including coal balls (CB), fuel wood (FW), dung cakes (DC), crop residues (CR), mixed fuels (MF: dung cakes + fuel woods). Species-wise highest EFs (g·kg) were: 34.

Purpose: Although deficits in social cognition (SC) had been recognized as a hallmark of schizophrenia, quality data in Indian context were limited. The purpose of the current research was to determine the demographic and clinical correlates of SC in schizophrenia.
Methods: Between February 2014 and January 2015, a case-control study was conducted in Chhattisgarh, India, among 100 paranoid schizophrenia patients (ICD-10) from two psychiatric hospitals and 100 neighborhood-based healthy (28-item General Health Questionnaire) controls.
