Tuberculosis (TB) is a serious infectious disease with significant mortality and most commonly affects the pulmonary system and rarely the oral cavity. Because oral tuberculosis is a rare disease, it is often overlooked in the differential diagnosis of oral lesions. Despite the recent decline in the incidence of tuberculosis, it remains a highly contagious and serious public health problem, thus requiring early diagnosis and rapid intervention.

Implementation of the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytology: A Two-Year Outcome Cytopathology Data of a Tertiary Care Center.

Objective: In 2015, the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology (MSRSGC) was implemented to eliminate overlapping and disparate morphologies in salivary gland lesions. This approach helps track diagnostic findings, describe the risk of malignancy for each group, and advance therapy based on the results. The research aimed to classify fine-needle aspiration (FNA) smears, analyze malignancy risk, correlate cytology with histological diagnosis, and reduce unnecessary surgeries.

Development, characterization, and evaluation of withaferin-A and artesunate-loaded pH-responsive acetal-dextran polymeric nanoparticles for the management of malaria.

Artemisinin and its derivatives have been commonly used to treat malaria. However, the emergence of resistance against artemisinin derivatives has posed a critical challenge in malaria management. In the present study, we have proposed a combinatorial approach, utilizing pH-responsive acetal-dextran nanoparticles (Ac-Dex NPs) as carriers for the delivery of withaferin-A (WS-3) and artesunate (Art) to improve treatment efficacy of malaria.

Changing Trends of Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Northern Odisha, India.

Tenon's patch graft to the rescue during COVID-19 pandemic.

Objective: To report a case of bilateral Mooren's ulcer with impending corneal perforation in the right eye and perforated peripheral corneal ulcer in the left eye which successfully underwent Tenon's patch graft (TPG) with multilayered amniotic membrane grafting (AMG) as globe salvaging procedure during COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Conjunctival resection was done on both the eyes followed by autologous Tenon's grafting with overlay amniotic membrane grafting in the left eye with perforation and multilayered AMG with AMG overlay in the right eye with impending perforation. Post-operatively topical antibiotics and steroids were prescribed.

A case of acrodermatitis enteropathica mimicking mutilating palmoplantar keratoderma.

Acrodermatitis enteropathica (AE) is a rare inherited form of defective zinc absorption usually manifesting as eczematous and erosive dermatitis preferably over periorificial and acral areas which at times mimics various hereditary palmoplantar keratodermas (PPK). We reported a 6-year-old boy who presented with hard plaques over both palm and sole, and periorificial areas, and flexion attitude of digits without any history of diarrhea and prolonged illness. The patient improved dramatically with zinc supplementation including correction of flexion deformities of the fingers.

Coraco-clavicular endobutton and fiber tape fixation for Neer's type II unstable lateral clavicular fracture: a case series with literature review.

Neer's type II lateral end clavicle fracture is inherently unstable due to coraco-clavicular ligament disruption. Timely surgery can avoid complications of conservative management. Our study is based on open reduction and fixation with double endobutton and fibre tape in 12 patients.

Hyperbilirubinemia as a Possible Predictor of Appendiceal Perforation in Acute Appendicitis: A Prospective Study.

Introduction: Acute appendicitis, a common abdominal surgical emergency, can mostly be diagnosed clinically by assessing the symptoms and physical findings but confirmation of the diagnosis solely depends upon the histopathological study of the resected appendix specimen, being supplemented by a few laboratory tests and ultrasonography (USG). In spite of all these available investigations, the diagnosis of acute appendicitis, because of its nebulous presentation and the variability of signs, remains a Herculean task for the surgeon.

Methods: This is a prospective study conducted on 125 patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis and posted for appendicectomy.

Utility of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) in the diagnosis of tuberculous lymphadenitis compared to GeneXpert in a tertiary health care center in Northern Odisha, India.

Background: Diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis including tuberculous lymphadenitis (TBLN) is challenging because of its atypical clinical presentation, paucibacillary nature of mycobacteria at the infected sites, variation in sensitivity of a test to specimens collected by different methods and from different infected tissues.

Methods: In the present study, suspected individuals for lymph node tuberculosis irrespective of age were enrolled prospectively and specimens were collected aseptically by fine needle aspiration (FNA). After the implementation of exclusion criteria, FNA specimens from a total of 278 cases of suspected TBLN were evaluated for cytomorphology (FNAC), presence of acid-fast bacillus (AFB) in smear microscopy and specific detection of mycobacterial DNA in cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification test (CBNAAT).

Diagnostic Utility of Mean Peak Systolic Velocity of Superior Thyroid Artery in Differentiating Graves' Disease from Thyroiditis.

Differentiating Graves' disease from thyroiditis can be at times clinically challenging. The gold standard test (thyroid nuclear imaging scan) is expensive, not routinely available, and has radiation exposure. Color Doppler ultrasonography of thyroid represents a suitable alternate which can be used for differentiating these conditions by studying thyroid blood flow parameters.

Yielding quality viral RNA by using two different chemistries: a comparative performance study.

Purity and integrity are two important criteria for any RNA extraction process to qualify the RNA for meaningful gene expression analysis. This study compares four commercially available RNA extraction kits using silica membrane and magnetic bead separation methods. The performance was evaluated in terms of both quantity (total RNA amount in μg/μl) and purity (260/280 ratio).

Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) is a global pandemic and high mortality rate among severe or critical COVID-19 is linked with SARS-CoV-2 infection-induced hyperinflammation of the innate and adaptive immune systems and the resulting cytokine storm. This paper attempts to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of published articles, to evaluate the association of inflammatory parameters with the severity and mortality in COVID-19 patients.

Methods: A comprehensive systematic literature search of medical electronic databases including Pubmed/Medline, Europe PMC, and Google Scholar was performed for relevant data published from January 1, 2020 to June 26, 2020.
