Purpose: To clinically evaluate whether 4% articaine administered alone as a single buccal infiltration in deciduous maxillary tooth extraction can provide favorable palatal anesthesia compared to buccal and palatal infiltrations using 2% lidocaine.

Materials And Methods: A prospective, double-blind, split-mouth, randomized controlled clinical study was carried out on 60 children comprising 36 females and 24 males in the age group of 5-10 years. During two separate appointments, children randomly received either 4% articaine with 1:1,00,000 epinephrine (group I-experimental) as buccal infiltration alone, or 2% lidocaine with 1:80,000 epinephrine (group II-control) as buccal plus palatal infiltration.

Effective pain management is crucial for the successful performance of various endodontic procedures. Painless treatments are made possible by anesthetizing the tooth to be treated using various nerve-block techniques. However, certain circumstances necessitate supplemental anesthetic techniques to achieve profound anesthesia, especially in situations involving a "hot tooth" in which intrapulpal anesthesia (IPA) is employed.

Introduction: Inflammation is a definitive characteristic of carcinogenesis. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an easy and efficient indicator of inflammation and a valuable marker in individuals with malignancies. The present study was performed to ascertain NLR values in salivary samples collected from individuals with oral premalignant disorders (OPMDs) and to assess the prognostic significance of NLR in distinguishing OPMDs from oral malignancies.

Background The continuous increase in demand for reduced treatment times has led researchers to think in terms of "accelerated orthodontics." Generally, the duration for fixed orthodontic treatment is around two to three years. Prolonged use of braces leads to external root resorption, a high risk of caries, and decreased patient compliance.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study investigates how salivary secretory immunoglobulin A (IgA), an important part of the immune system, changes with age in healthy individuals aged 11 to 70 years old.
  • - Researchers collected saliva samples from 120 participants and measured IgA levels using specific testing techniques, finding significant variations across different age groups (with the highest levels at ages 41-60).
  • - The findings indicate that salivary IgA decreases in older age, suggesting that strategies like oral immunization could enhance immunity as IgA levels decline throughout life.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of ProTaper, Mtwo, and WaveOne retreatment files and Hedstrom files for removal of gutta-percha from the straight root canals using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Forty freshly extracted single-rooted and single-canal teeth were selected for this study. The teeth were decoronated, and biomechanical preparation was performed up to #30 K-file.

Saliva is an exocrine secretion produced from the salivary glands and has numerous functions, such as cleansing and protection of the oral cavity, antimicrobial effects and aids in digestion. Due to the speedy development in the field of salivaomics, saliva is now well accepted as a pool of biological markers that vary from changes in biochemicals, nucleic acids and proteins to the microflora. Saliva has an immense potential as a diagnostic fluid and offers an edge over other biological fluids as its collection method does not require invasive procedure, economical and is useful for monitoring systemic health.

Introduction: Apical periodontitis usually results from bacterial accumulation and contamination occurring in the root-canal system, and extending beyond the apical foramen to involve the periapical tissues. Literature has a paucity of the studies that stress on the division and analysis of the pulp canal segments. The reason for this disparity might be the technique used for collecting the samples from the pulp canals.
