Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of bovine lactoferrin (BLF) in preventing first episode of late-onset sepsis (LOS) in low birth weight (LBW) neonates.
Methods: In this study conducted from May 2012 to July 2013 in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a tertiary care hospital, inborn asymptomatic neonates, <2000 g, admitted to NICU in first 12 h of birth with no maternal risk factors for sepsis were randomized to receive BLF or placebo from 1st to 28th day of life. The incidence of culture-proven sepsis and sepsis-attributable mortality after 72 h of life was recorded.

Aims: To study the effect of intravenous magnesium sulfate infusion on clinical outcome of patients of acute stroke.
Materials And Methods: Sixty consecutive cases of acute ischemic stroke hospitalised within 24 h of an episode of stroke were taken as subjects. All subjects underwent a computed tomography head, and those found to have evidence of bleed/space-occupying lesions were excluded from the study.

Simultaneous isolated bilateral patellar fractures are very rare injuries and most often associated with systemic disorders such as hyperparathyroidism, osteoporosis, stress fracture and kidney failure. Isolated bilateral traumatic fracture of patella following an unusual mode of injury is seldomly reported in the literature. We reported such a case following a road traffic accident without any associated injuries or co-morbid condition.

Background: Cytological examination of effusions helps to differentiate between benign and malignant effusions, but fails a definitive diagnosis in a number of cases. The main problem here is to distinguish reactive mesothelial cells from neoplastic cells.
Aim: In the present study, we used argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR) staining for diagnosis of benign and malignant effusions.
