Int J Biol Macromol

October 2024

Department of Environmental Biotechnology, Faculty of Power and Environmental Engineering, Akademicka 2, Silesian University of Technology, 44 - 100 Gliwice, Poland. Electronic address:

For the first time, Frankincense resin (FR) has been carboxymethylated to produce CMFR - AuNPs and the conjugate was utilized for the Doxorubicin drug loading. The carboxymethylation of the carboxylic, phenolic, and hydroxyl functional groups of FR has been developed into carboxymethylated Frankincense resin (CMFR). A novel CMFR-AuNPs was synthesized using the developed CMFR as a stabilizing and reducing agent.

Accounts on the recent (over the past 10 years) catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation reaction-based achievements with different catalysts to generate natural products and synthetic targets such as fragrances, pharmaceutical agents, and agrochemicals are mentioned in this present concise review. Mechanistic steps, chemoselectivity with higher functional group tolerance by employing transition metal-based chiral catalysts (Ir-, Rh-, Ni-, Ru-, Fe-, Mn-, Pd-, Co-, and Zn-based organometallic chiral complexes), and biocatalysts and their importance on the genesis of chirality coupled with higher turnover numbers are also described.

The organization of eukaryotic genome in the nucleus, a double-membraned organelle separated from the cytoplasm, is highly complex and dynamic. The functional architecture of the nucleus is confined by the layers of internal and cytoplasmic elements, including chromatin organization, nuclear envelope associated proteome and transport, nuclear-cytoskeletal contacts, and the mechano-regulatory signaling cascades. The size and morphology of the nucleus could impose a significant impact on nuclear mechanics, chromatin organization, gene expression, cell functionality and disease development.

Herein, we have designed for the fabrication of a series of g-CN/CuO composite by using one-step microwave-assisted synthesis for the degradation of antibiotics and detection of nano-molar range of toxic heavy metal ions. The synthesized g-CN/CuO composites were analyzed and characterized to know the structure, phase, surface area, absorption region, bandgap, and size of the composites. From the observation of TEM and XRD measurements, g-CN/CuO composites have hexagonal shape with average diameter of the particles is 25 ± 5 nm.

In the present study, we have successfully synthesized and characterized carboxy methyl cashew gum modified gold nanoparticles (CMCG-AuNPs) via a microwave-assisted method and used as a calorimetric probe for selective detection of Hg ions as well as catalytic reduction of methyl red in an aqueous medium. The effect of different parameters including concentration and irradiation time on the formation of CMCG-AuNPs was also investigated. The presence of strong surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak in the visible region indicated the formation of AuNPs.
