Odonates (dragonflies and damselflies) can indicate the ecological health of aquatic biota within the rich but vulnerable biodiversity of tropical forests. The reaction of odonates to deforestation can be measured by changes in coarse taxonomic ratios. Suborder Zygoptera are thermal conformers susceptible to overheating, having the affinity with shaded, intact sites.

Background: The clinical heterogeneity of myasthenia gravis (MG), an autoimmune disease defined by antibodies (Ab) directed against the postsynaptic membrane, constitutes a challenge for patient stratification and treatment decision making. Novel strategies are needed to classify patients based on their biological phenotypes aiming to improve patient selection and treatment outcomes.
Methods: For this purpose, we assessed the serum proteome of a cohort of 140 patients with anti-acetylcholine receptor-Ab-positive MG and utilised consensus clustering as an unsupervised tool to assign patients to biological profiles.

Aim: To explore the influence of supervisory and mentoring relationships on the clinical learning experiences of Czech Nursing and health professional students in the context of patient safety events BACKGROUND: Clinical experience is integral to healthcare education, shaping skills, behaviours, values and professional identity. During clinical placements, students may encounter memorable patient safety events and experience varied reactions from mentors/supervisors/others. Some research has highlighted challenges faced by students on clinical placement.

Angucyclines and angucyclinones represent a class of natural compounds that belong to the group of aromatic polyketides. They exhibit a wide array of biological properties, such as antimicrobial, antiviral, and cytotoxic. Their considerable therapeutic potential and diverse scaffolds have attracted many synthetic chemists to devise novel strategies to construct their intricate molecular architecture.

Pubertal status/stage of maturation and pubertal timing have been linked with emotional symptoms of problems among youth, particularly in vulnerable developmental contexts at risk for stress exposure. The present study tested the extent to which pubertal status/stage of maturation and pubertal timing were associated with anxious/depressed, withdrawn/depressed, and somatic complaint symptoms in Kosovar adolescents. It also tested whether sex moderated these relationships.

Molecular structural elucidation can be accomplished by different techniques, such as nuclear magnetic resonance or X-ray diffraction. However, the former does not give information about the three-dimensional atomic arrangement, and the latter needs crystallizable solid samples. An alternative is direct, real-space visualization of the molecules by cryogenic scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).

Parent-child patterns in objectively measured movement behaviours were the highlight of this study. A total of 381 families (337 mothers, 256 fathers, 190 daughters, and 191 sons) from 36 randomly selected schools and kindergartens provided valid accelerometer data. Sedentary behaviour and physical activity (PA) were assessed using ActiGraph accelerometers.

Earth abundant metal-based heterogeneous catalysts with highly active and at the same time stable isolated metal sites constitute a key factor for the advancement of sustainable and cost-effective chemical synthesis. In particular, the development of more practical, and durable iron-based materials is of central interest for organic synthesis, especially for the preparation of chemical products related to life science applications. Here, we report the preparation of Fe-single atom catalysts (Fe-SACs) entrapped in N-doped mesoporous carbon support with unprecedented potential in the preparation of different kinds of amines, which represent privileged class of organic compounds and find increasing application in daily life.

Cyanobacterial taxonomy is entering the genomic era, but only a few taxonomic studies have employed population genomics, which provides a framework and a multitude of tools to understand species boundaries. Phylogenomic and population genomic analyses previously suggested that several cryptic lineages emerged within the genus Laspinema. Here, we apply population genomics to define boundaries between these lineages and propose two new cryptic species, Laspinema olomoucense and L.

This article presents a comprehensive and multistage approach to the development of the user experience (UX) for an mHealth application targeting older adult patients with chronic diseases, specifically chronic heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The study adopts a mixed methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative components. The underlying hypothesis posits that baseline medicine adherence knowledge (measured by the MARS questionnaire), beliefs about medicines (measured by the BMQ questionnaire), and level of user experience (measured by the SUS and UEQ questionnaires) act as predictors of adherence change after a period of usage of the mHealth application.

Introduction: Risk factors for developing osteoradionecrosis (ORN) are well known, but less is known about factors influencing the interval between radiotherapy and the onset of ORN. Also, it is unknown whether there is any specific period post-radiotherapy with a reduced probability of ORN when irradiated teeth require extraction.
Purpose: The primary aim of this study was to identify factors influencing the interval in developing ORN in the following subgroups of patients: (1) patients who spontaneously developed ORN, (2) surgical-intervention-related ORN with a particular focus on patients after mandibulectomy.

The annotation of metabolites detected in LC-MS-based untargeted metabolomics studies routinely applies accurate / of the intact metabolite (MS1) as well as chromatographic retention time and MS/MS data. Electrospray ionization and transfer of ions through the mass spectrometer can result in the generation of multiple "features" derived from the same metabolite with different / values but the same retention time. The complexity of the different charged and neutral adducts, in-source fragments, and charge states has not been previously and deeply characterized.

Background: An interesting and little-reported problem in the literature is the scale of asymmetry in table tennis players, the magnitude of which should perhaps be treated as a risk for injury. Determining the degree of asymmetry in table tennis players can indicate the need to appropriately manage the training process, including compensatory or corrective exercises in the training program, especially since recent studies confirm that training interventions can reduce sporting asymmetries and improve performance. This study aimed to assess the amount of asymmetry in the trunk regarding the frontal plane and the difference between limb circumferences in female table tennis players compared to the control group (non-athletes).

Background: Studies from different countries report a stagnation or regression of moral competence in medical students between the first and the last year of their studies, and the value of various educational interventions remains uncertain.
Methods: We used Moral Competence Test (MCT) to measure C-scores of moral competence to determine the change in the MCT C-scores between the first- and the fifth-year medical students from two medical schools in the Czech Republic in the academic year 2022/2023 and to analyze factors associated with the C-scores (observational study). In addition, for the first-year students, we compared the results of the MCT before and after an intervention in medical ethics curriculum (interventional study).

Introduction: The Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) causes serious interpersonal problems from childhood to adulthood, one of them being problematic social functioning. This phenomenon in ADHD should be associated with impairments in the Theory of Mind (ToM). Therefore, understanding the neural correlates of the ToM could be crucial for helping individuals with ADHD with their social functioning.
