Impact of the International Tumor Budding Consensus Conference Recommendations in Oral Cancer.

Objectives: Tumor budding was suggested as a valuable prognostic factor in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) but lacks a standardized scoring system. This study evaluates tumor budding in OSCC using the scoring system recommended by the International Tumor Budding Consensus Conference (ITBCC) 2016.

Materials And Methods: The study included 114 patients with resected OSCC.

Evaluation of corticoresistance in patients with thyroid eye disease and use of rituximab as a second-line treatment.

Purpose: High-dose intravenous glucocorticoids are the standard first-line treatment in active, moderate to severe and severe thyroid eye disease (TED). We evaluate the usefulness of clinical activity score (CAS) and thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin (TSI) as predictors and/or post-treatment markers of corticoresistance in patients with TED and the effect of rituximab in second-line treatment.

Methods: We enrolled 236 patients with an active TED into this retrospective single-tertiary-center cohort study.

Background And Aims: In patients with atrial fibrillation, oral anticoagulation therapy is indicated for both primary and secondary prevention of stroke/systemic embolism. Background: Individuals with congenital solitary functioning kidney (SFK) are at an increased risk of kidney damage. According to some studies, the risk is higher in unilateral kidney agenesis (UKA) than in unilateral multicystic dysplastic kidney (UMCDK). We hypothesized that with early detection of children with UKA and UMCDK, there would be no difference in the presence of hypertension, proteinuria, and reduced glomerular filtration rate (GFR) between UKA and UMCDK.

We analysed various risk parameters of cSCC to predict the incidence of nodal metastases. Aims: The objective of this study was to investigate the association and combined prognostic significance of the PD-L1, Smoothened protein and β-catenin expressions in patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC).

Methods: The PD-L1, Smoothened protein and β-catenin expression were evaluated in 104 ccRCC patients. All studied tumor samples were acquired from nephrectomy specimens of primary tumors and not from biopsies or metastases.

Acute drug intoxication in childhood: a 10-year retrospective observational single-centre study and case reports.

Background: Medication poisoning in children is a severe condition that can endanger a child's life. Although drug intoxications are easily preventable, awareness of the proper handling of drugs and their safe storage out of the reach of children is not widespread among the general public. In this work, we investigated the demographic and clinical data of children admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of the University Hospital Olomouc for acute drug-induced intoxication.

Long-term environmental metal exposure is associated with hypomethylation of CpG sites in NFKB1 and other genes related to oncogenesis.

Background: Long-term environmental exposure to metals leads to epigenetic changes and may increase risks to human health. The relationship between the type and level of metal exposure and epigenetic changes in subjects exposed to high concentrations of metals in the environment is not yet clear. The aim of our study is to find the possible association of environmental long-term exposure to metals with DNA methylation changes of genes related to immune response and carcinogenesis.

Faecal Bacteriome and Metabolome Profiles Associated with Decreased Mucosal Inflammatory Activity Upon Anti-TNF Therapy in Paediatric Crohn's Disease.

Background And Aims: Treatment with anti-tumour necrosis factor α antibodies [anti-TNF] changes the dysbiotic faecal bacteriome in Crohn's disease [CD]. However, it is not known whether these changes are due to decreasing mucosal inflammatory activity or whether similar bacteriome reactions might be observed in gut-healthy subjects. Therefore, we explored changes in the faecal bacteriome and metabolome upon anti-TNF administration [and therapeutic response] in children with CD and contrasted those to anti-TNF-treated children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis [JIA].
